Our journey today begins early in the morning outside of the terminal at Washington Reagan National Airport. We enter the beautiful terminal building and head straight to the TSA security checkpoint. From there we make our way to the airside departure lounge, and head down the United Airlines pier where our aircraft is waiting for us.
Boarding is soon called for First Class passengers and we make our way down the jetbridge and take our seat in 3A. We get a pre-departure drink while the rest of the passengers are boarding, and settle in to our comfy first class seat. Before long we push back and commence our taxi to the runway - but unfortunately we are delayed at the end of the runway due to slot restrictions into Chicago. We are served more drinks while we wait and soon our engines start again and we depart into a foggy morning in Washington DC.
We soon climb above the clouds into the blue, and make our way across the Eastern States towards the Midwest. We cross Lake MIchigan as we commence our descent into O'Hare, and in contrast with Washington DC it is a beautiful day in Illinois. We get fantastic views of the entire city of Chicago as we descend into O'Hare and touchdown early (despite our late departure from Washington) after a flight time of just 84 minutes.
Due to our early arrival we are held in the penalty box for a few minutes (listen out for the pilot expressing his disappointment!), and taxi onto our stand. We depart into the terminal and through the beautiful tunnel of light, created by artist Michael Hayden. We emerge streetside on a beautiful sunny day in Chicago.

I used to find the sound of a plane engine to be annoying as a kid. Now I use it as white noise. This video is honestly perfect for that

Too bad about the delay at DCA, but then that's why airlines have been padding the schedules all these years! Also, that area of taxiways by RWY 01 at DCA seems rather rough. Love the views of Chicago!
The walk through the terminal reminded me of when I first flew to ORD, back in 2003. The United Terminal really is quite cool. On a side note, McDonald's was quite a popular choice when you were there eh?
Have you ever flown through Dulles (IAD)? I grew up in a Virginia town about 5 miles from the airport. I can recall in the early 2000's hearing from my back porch Concorde departing. 😁

Pilots were waiting on the "numbers" from United flight ops. Mainly weight of aircraft, that must be entered into the Flight Management Computer to compute performance numbers for take-off roll and other variables.

Hello there. I hear no audio when I play this video. Somehow, I don't think that's intended. Any idea why? I don't have it muted, and the volume is turned up to 100%. I'm at 14 minutes and 19 seconds and counting. I can play other videos, and I even opened another window and tried to play a different video, and I have no problems playing another one. How do you manage to upload a 18 hour full flight video? When I try to upload my 16 hour LAX=>SIN full flight, CZcams said it was too long and said that the maximum length is 720 minutes.
Ouch that’s annoying! Not sure whether your channel needs to be a certain size before it will let you upload longer vids, or maybe country related?
I don't think it is country related (I'm based in the United States) but I think its probably of how many subscribe to me. When I try to upload to my other channel which has more subscribers than this new channel that I'm writing from, it also did not let me. When I check for a limit, there was only a 15 minute limit until I verify the channel. I verified the channel and it let me upload more than 15 minutes. Maybe they just want to make sure that people would watch the videos so it is not a waste of space on CZcams. I guess for now, I would upload it in two 8 hour videos. These are the struggles for a new channel uploading the 4th longest flight in the world!
Your channel inspired me to do this. Especially your QR921 and QF10 videos. I thought that since I fly a lot, it would be fun to upload full flight videos.
What was the app on your phone with the flight details on can anyone get it or do you have to be booked on the flight?

Yep we're all uploaded in 1080p but YT have broken all of our videos. Without reuploading they won't show in 1080p :( They're all in 1080p and coming soon in 4K on our website inflightvideo.tv.

Why would you go first class for like 2 1/2 hours
Originally my flight was SJU-EWR in First It all changed when my flights got screwed up so I ended up changing it to DCA-EWR-ORD with a leg on the 777 in Polaris First. Then on the day, my DCA-EWR got cancelled and they moved me to this direct!

Yes indeed. In Home Alone 2, it was terminal *3* and the *H* and *K* gates I think? The parents went to the *K* gates side and Kevin went to the *H* gates at the split. Great movies!

Flight attendants seem to talk slowly with lots of mistakes these days.
My only complaint 1:56:23 only one muffin for breakfast?? No eggs, sausage, just a first class muffin? United is getting skimpy!
Yep but its a short flight, a transcontinental or international you'll get a full breakfast. And I remember the days when you got eggs, sausage, etc in coach! American as I recall had the best, usually a cheese omelet with tomatoes, sausage and hash brown.

Yep US first class is like business class in the rest of the world. In fact worse as you don’t even get lounge access like you do everywhere else!

@@noelphilips I fly United business and first often, I'm near their Dulles hub, and you're right about no lounge access but that's only for domestic flights, international flights you do get lounge access. And its not quite true that US first class is like business class in the rest of the world, I've taken flights within Europe where business class is just a regular economy seat and they don't sell the middle seat, while US first class is actually a wider seat with more pitch and leg room.
Those are some noisy-ass engines!

Dulles airport is better
Take it from someone who has lived in the DC area for 40 years, DCA is better in terms of metro access and shorter time getting from check-in, thru security and to your gate. Though I do use IAD more because I fly internationally more.
