Honestly Verte was always banlist worth since it's inception. It has a huge tool box of fusion spells to work with before it was released during arc v era bunch of unique fusion spells for specific decks came around. Ancient gears got there own, pendulum, and a bunch of other decks. It had to go before dragon but it didn't since we all knew red eyes fusion already was around that was gonna just get smashed into any deck that turn link Verte and make dragoon. And or any other monster that had access to a fusion spell that fused from the deck or graveyard.
Dragoon's effect is like when a kid has his way in designing a monster card. Like I want this card to be untargettable, undestroyable, also give him a once per turn destruction effect, and last but not the least i want this to have an omni negate just in case 🤓👌
It’s a philosophy that the OCG has. It doesn’t matter if it’s a card that isn’t a problem anymore they’ll just wait YEARS after it’s been power crept to release it.
This bugs me so much because that's the only reason it's banned in Master Duel. I just want them to ban Predaplant Verte Anaconda so I can finally use my boi in my mediocre Red-Eyes decks...

surprised you didn't mention Duality to summon it out. love running it in decks that have lv8 light spellcasters in them like swordsoul with iris swordsoul or the handful of lv8 in Dogmatika.
yeah well, Verte is banworthy for sure. But Dragoon would be a nice card in Master Duel, where it's literally not just banned, but impossible to get in any way. Not even craftable. DPE on the other hand is a fairly commn package in Master Duel still. Verte + Fusion Destiny + (since Celestial is banned there atm) Denier, and Dasher for their graveyard effects. Destiny HERO Draw Hand was also a pick I've seen instead of Denier a bunch of times. They're both good options for the low level part. Alternatively, if you just want more generic bodies on the board, Malicious can work too.
As an actual DM player. We fucking hate Timaeus. He doesn't do shit that Secrets doesn't already do but better... and we also hate secrets because it's ass. We need a Branded Fusion for us.
to be fair its not true that this card saw 0 meta usage ever, it was played in branded in kashtira format as a way to beat shifter and in a few branded decks with duality (which had a couple major event tops). it saw meta usage until 2023 and it wasnt a lot, but its something
@@elcato8126 you have to hard draw it, but for casual play sacrificing the searchability to actually be able to summon other things is worth it. Not everything has to be from the perspective of a competitive mindset you know. Casual players exist too

When I was getting into playing, I pulled this from a Pharoah tin. I was so stoked to have a shiny rare card, until I saw that it was pretty much useless in meta.
Pick, choose and take are target. Imagine “Neither player can target, pick, choose, or take this card by card effects.” Seems redundant on a card riddled with script
If your opponents monster attacks dragoon and it has a spell card attached to it to increase in atk would that work in dragoon? It's not technically affecting dragoon buy when that monster attacks it would?
@ianslee4765 what the deck also needs is some graveyard recursion and more special summoning. And probably retrain the Gemini monsters, and make them non Gemini monsters. Probably a card or 2 that's not a hopt. Idk what else they can use.

You can only use this effect once per turn. Being lazy now so just like one fusion monster that gains "original attack" based on the fusion material and that's the deck imo. Its a deck that tries to burn you to get your resources out just to try and steal them for itself
Fun fact Dragoon has a combo where It does a magia end board It was invited by me 2020 It also has a tier 1 style lock down unbreakable till this day. Also invented by me. Years later Konami notice and creating the 1 card magia that i invited 2020 We are still waiting for the other combo i invited to be made 1 card as well 😁🤫😎🐐
dragoon wasn't the reason it was busted, it was verte allowing it everywhere in the first place that made it busted. which is why TCG banlist will and will always be better than OCG's, cause we do not do "honk honk" clown hits on cards 🗿
As someone who LOVES red-eyes, i absolutely HATE this fucking card. Both playing it and against it. It definitely jyst deserves a ban on all formats. Any towers that can be made off a single spell card is broken and everyone knows it. That why it's so toxic.

If you haven't even a card in your hand, you can't do nothing! This card is good and balanced in my opinion, in master duel, japaneses and haters prefere die instead free it
It is useless, except for Top Tier decks that can abuse it. On its own or in any weaker decks its very weak and lame. Reason why it has no place in OCG and Master Duel.
@@redace4821lmao., OCG has Maxx C,. that means that's a lot of supply for interruptions and omni-negate. TCG has no interaction and limited hand card advantage. That's why in TCG,. you rather Go Fish for a Kaiju card instead of interrupting your opponents combo.
Just as Maxx "C" has made things like Adamancipator, Infernoble, Drytron, and Unchained way weaker in the OCG compared to the TCG - it has also made things like Dragoon, Dogmatika, Spright, and Vanquish Soul way stronger in the OCG compared to the TCG.
2:15 DM is a deck that struggles because of its engine more so than the boards it can set up. The deck is inconsistent and the engine is too slow to produce the end game that it does. With dark dragoon and some engine cards DM could be a viable deck.
I wish they would just ban Verte in Master duel and bring back Dragoon to 1 just to see what people do to get it out for a while. In the current meta it would be funny
No. I seen people Super Poly, Kaiju, Chimeratech, etc. the fuck outta this card. Thats how easy it is to remove Dragoon, its only good in Top Tier meta decks is the reason why its problematic.
My opponent summons Dragoon at End phase of their turn I chain Skill Drain. After my draw phase actives Harpies Feather duster destroying DM players back row and eternal soul. Well Dragoon nice knowing you have a nice trip.

Don't forget the cherry on top the burn effect and getting stronger for no real reason.
They only forgot to ask the ease to summon, because running the garnet materials are not worth it most of the time

Timaeus the United dragon is not a bad card in a dm deck. It brings dragoon from extra deck as good as anaconda.
No it doesn't. Anaconda gave 1 card combos that made dragoon. Anaconda also let's you use 2 normals to get the full power of dragoon

If played in dm decks you can use eye of timaeus so you aren't locked out of other summons

The new blue eyes card is probably better dm support than this, but its harder to make.
The strong hindrance for Dragoon is the red-eyes fusion spell. If it was worded the way destiny fusion is, it would be more viable
Red eyes fusion single handledly is keeping red eyes from being a solid deck at this point plus like two or three better options to fuse into

This card was very successful in tcg. Guess this video was made for clicks.
It was a terror to locals, but didn’t have very many tops. Then Verte got banned and it wasn’t worth it to play Dragoon anymore.
It's most successful tenure was as a plan b for branded decks in Kashtira format. I don't think we can count that as "very successful"
