A lot of people have been asking how they can learn to solo cox, specifically olm. They ask what kind of gear they need, what levels they need, etc.
It can be frustrating for some people to find teams, or friends to raid with. So I made a guide showing the easiest method that I know of that ANYONE can use to solo olm.
This guide is not an efficiency guide, and it should be used as a first step for players who are new to cox but want to learn solos.
In this video we will be using the 3:0 mage hand method, the 1:0 melee hand method, and the 1:0 head phase method. It is a very simple method that anyone can learn even if they have never raided before.
If you are struggling with the 3:0 method after watching this video, please check out my 3:0 mage guide!
• Never Take Damage from...
If you wanna up your game, and begin learning 4:1 or 3:1, check out my guide on both of those methods!
• Master the Melee Hand!...

These are amazing dude, I've felt so burnt on the idea of Cox, with the release of TOA I realized I preferred to just do these things alone to learn. This is going to be so fucking handy thanks.
@@ElderWillows TYSM! CoX can be intimidating to learners, especially when they think about whether or not to learn solos. My goal is to show that it can be done using very simple methods! I hope they help :)
Dude you are the SOLE source of actual guides catered to teaching by example.
You teach in a simple and consise manner that's easy to digest. You use gear that is reasonable to expect from the viewers.
Every other guide would be using mega rares and complex gameplay with very little explanation of how it works. Then they claim it's easy, completely tone deaf to the reality that anyone watching a guide isn't maxed with best in slot everything!
You earned a subcriber bro. This is literally all people have been asking for.
Thank you so much :) learning to raid is a process, and I have not forgotten the struggle I went through when I learned to raid for the very first time. My hope is that I can save people who find themselves in a similar situation just a little bit of trouble, and make it just a bit easier for them to learn.
Much appreciated :)
This comment right here. 100%
100% THIS! Most creators are like "Yeah this content is easily doable in Ahrims with a trident, but for the purpose of the guide I'm using full Ancestral and a Shadow" ... Like bruh
@@yorkmanngaming5888 YES! Teach by example is all we are asking! But when we say that, they act like we are being unreasonable.

@@VideoGameBot I absolutely did, great guide man. I can tell you're an excellent teacher when you're explaining these complex things in very simple terms. It shows that you've mastered the subject that you're explaining.

Thank you sir@@VideoGameBot
This is far and away the best guide for olm I’ve ever seen. All the other guides get too far into the details of the complex methods. This is exactly what I need to get into the raid by myself and I will look at the complex guides once I’m ready for them. Thank you for “demystifying” olm!!
Love this! That was my goal with the video. I also believe that many guides are very in-depth and can be overwhelming for first timers. There's nothing wrong with in-depth guides, and often times they are necessary. But my goal is to make very simple guides that first-timers can more easily understand.
Thank you so much.
It not being a perfect run, showing the mistakes, the visual metronome and explanation and how to fall back into rhythm all really helped out. Thanks for helping out the community man
By far the best solo olm video out there for beginners, thanks man.
Man your cox guides have been so ridiculously helpful. I just got my first deathless raid today as well as achieving not so special lizard( I’ll admit with some luck as I just barely fucked up perfect olm. Still WE. FUCKIN. GAMING. Thank you so much bro!
Thanks for the beginner guide, honestly pumped to try my first chambers solo this weekend! Easy to follow! Thanks for making olm seem less daunting than some of the other guides do for learners
How did it go?
literally the only critique I could give is that the game audio is a little loud compared to your voice. The actual content of this guide is so good!
I had no idea this guide was going to blow up the way it did lol. All my most recent guides have significantly better audio I think :)
That was a really great guide man, thank you for this information. The full kill with commentary was very helpful for a good thorough understanding of how the mechanics work.
Really appreciate this guide. I completed my first solo and may have died a few times, but still got it done.
Practice makes perfect!! Congratz, and goodluck on huge solo purps :)
excellent guide, coming from someone who's never done COX before I'm very excited to jump in and it will probably be a solo for my first attempt. This really helped for the hardest part of the raid. Thank you!
be prepared to die a lot, it def takes practice to get it down, but its worth all the planks to get the practice in so you can start getting good kills
got this in my recommended, could never get 4:1 down, but this guide seems to very clear, gonna attempt 1:0 with this later today and see how it goes
You made this so trivial. I’m so stoked and ready to jump into this tomorrow!! Thank you.
Bro you’re absolutely an amazing teacher! I came here after your fortis Colosseum vid. Keep up the great work with breaking down complex topics.
I really appreciate this :) TYSM
Mate, you just earned a new subscriber. This is a insanely well put together guide. Cant thank you enough for this!
this was very helpful for me. been learning to solo started 2 days ago, the "if splash then you have to run left for for head to turn" is so simple to see in this vid, and seeing the 0:1 melee was nice though i'd like to 3-0 i can fall back on 0:1
and seeing the head phase is good, I was trying to attack 3 times per run, but it seems you can only attack twice, or at least twice is simple
Great guide. Learnt so much about the underlying mechanics of olm timings. Thank you!
Very chilled guide, understandable, and smooth commentary. Gotta saving this to personal osrs playlist.
Subbed for the pure genuineness of this content.
Great guide! Nice to see someone do Olm in bare minimum gear, shows it can be done by anyone.
Could you make a 4:1 olm video, i have tried to watch a few of them but i feel like they explain it weird and you have a very good way of explaining things.
Let me see what I can do. Thanks for the compliment :)
Thanks so much man! I've never been to cox before so I used your guides for my first ever runs. 1st attempt I died a bunch and failed, 2nd attempt I beat it with a bunch of deaths, 3rd attempt the next day I died a bunch and failed, 4th attempt I completed the whole raid deathless!! All thanks to you! Incredible!
WOW! Deathless run in just a couple days from scratch! So proud of you man. Are you having fun???
@@VideoGameBot Hell yeah I'm having fun! Got 2 more deathless runs, this is awesome! Can't wait for a purple :D thanks again man.
Loved the video. Would definitely watch more of your guides!
This is awesome! The overhead tick counter seems really helpful
Awesome video!!! I am struggling hard with cox so I'll give this a go! Thank you!
This is a really really good intro to more complicated movement\ticks Really well done dude
Very nice guide, super helpful and easy to follow along!
Insanely helpful! Thanks for doing this! I'd love a video guide specifically on head phase. This head phase looked super smooth, but when I try 1:0 I feel like I'm mindlessly chugging brews from all the crystals falling on me haha.
Head phase can be really unlucky with crystals. Sometimes it just sucks. What's nice about head phase (especially when doing 1:0 head) is that you dont have to be tick perfect. as long as youre past-center you can attack at any time. You can even attack from the far ends. You get like 3 full ticks of opportunity where you can attack.
That means if a crystal is falling near the tile you want to attack on, just wait a tick or 2, and attack later.
All that said; I will probably be making a head guide soon :)
KairosGaming osrs when?
Omg I used to watch you 5 years ago in the peak times of brawl. Happy to see you also dabble in RuneScape haha
Absolute legend, best guide out there for beginners. Liked and subbed. Thanks so much!

This guide is outstanding. Thank you so much sir. It has made raiding so accessible to me!
The visual metronome is game changing and it's awesome to 'study it' to see how the mechanics work :)
Great method I’ve done over 100cms this way while watching Netflix and sipping on my morning coffee. Not “efficient” but super chill and way easier than 4:1
so crazy that you try to justify doing this. you could have done 200 cms in that time if you just learned the proper way and didnt use this training wheels method
@@myosotis07 you can also tic manipulate skilling but tons of people choose the more relaxed option because it’s more efficient to do something slower than not at all
@@masonanderson6504 youre still trying to justify not learning the correct way to do something. there is no saving you. you will always be content with being bad havebfun with your 1 hour solo cms

Start with toa or cox. Much more beginner friendly than tob. Most tobbers will really require you to have maxed stats and good gear to take you.

@@VideoGameBot thank you man definitely will! ❤️
great method! subbing and looking forward to your inferno guide!!!
You mentioned 3:1 being a scythe or 5t specific strat and there might be a 3:1 scythe method but I think 3:1 usually refers to a simpler version of 4:1 where you still prevent Olm from using special attacks by turning his head like in 4:1, but you don't have to find the specific part of his attack cycle where he does a basic attack into an empty attack event, in 3:1 he just simply will only ever do a basic attack.
This is a great guide and I'm sure it'll help a lot of people get into cox solos, I just wanted to say 3:1 melee hand is actually a great jumping off point once people get comfortable with the movement and head turn rhythm of 1:0! The biggest caveat to 3:1 over 4:1 is it uses a lot more run energy, but anyone who's been doing 1:0 won't be a stranger to that.
Nice video man keep it up! Definitely the humblest zuk helm I've seen on youtube yet
I just finished making an in-depth 3:0 guide, and the 3:1/4:1 guide is coming next :D! I'd like to slowly work our way up with baby steps :)
Learned this exact method and that's why I've got rigour. Thank you for making a true beginner guide.
You are such a beast. I needed something like this
Thanks so much for the video, it helped me out immensely. After literally 2 raids, I am now soloing COX deathlessly. Thanks a ton! Definite sub
So happy to see comments like this. No problem :)
So good video ! I struggle more with getting in rhythm with the mage but on 4th kill I had 2 deaths when I went into the last head phase , died couple times there cuz I forgot to use stamina and lost rhythm, but thanks
Best solo Olm guide I’ve seen out there! Absolute beast ❤️
this makes me feel like i can try cox and spoon a tbow, thanks!
This is THE best guide for beginners! thank you!
That was the goal! This is not a guide for experienced soloers or speedrunners. I want to help new people get into endgame content.
Great guide. Showing a few mistakes really makes all the difference.
Mistakes happen! My intention was to show how to correct yourself if you make a mistake. So many guides show how to beat the boss "correctly" or "perfectly" but don't often take the time to show how to fix your mistakes if/when they happen.
They call me GameBot, but we are all human :)
This guy slaps, i've known gamebot for a while now and he's a great dude.
Thanks, King!
great guide dude thanks for these. cant wait to try next time i’m on
You'll have to let me know how it goes!! If you struggle with the methods, I have more guides that can help :)
I wanna do so many CoX but sometimes the first of the CoX is really intimidating. Thank you for the guide this should loosen me up a bit and make the first of many CoX a little bit easier.
Thank you for this, love your videos. Got my first 0 deaths by watching this. You are the man!

Amazing guide subbed
very nice ,very simple . cheers mate
With your guide I did Vasa as one of my first bosses and it was super easy and fun. Deathless completely till I reached Olm.. After that, I planked, and just logged. I went nuts.
Olm is so much harder than the rest of the raid, completely normal bro. Bring less switches, make the max prep you can, always safe to 110 and focus on getting the run down over dealing damage. Olm was never meant to be a solo boss so you have to prioritize learning the movement above anything else.
after watching. must subscribe. first time thats happened. GREAT JOB
i'm nowhere close to doing cox (base 50s), but this sure is making me look forward to trying it in the future!
This is exactly what i was looking for. thanks bro
Hope it helps, dude!
This is such a blessing. I always wanted to get into COX but never found a good video on OLM. Any chance you'd make a similar sorta video for the rooms?
This sounds like a good idea
i would also love a video for the rooms. or if you can reccomend one
The rooms for me as well. Really been wanting to get into raiding but I don’t have any friends that play also I don’t know if anyone would want to raid with a noob like me. Thanks for this video
@@chexa8702 I have a guide up with every room (challenge mode) and easy rooms (budget gear, same setup as this video) Check them out :)
@@VideoGameBot thanks I ran across those right after I posted the comment. Thank you so much. You really simplify the raid, I’m going to try later today. I appreciate the vids a lot.

Loved this. The gear was somehow the most insanely flexin budget intro setup to ever grace this game 😂
Who would have thought a 5mil olm setup would be so loved :P
Fantastic demonstration. Like the music too - what tune is that? EDIT: Nevermind....that is the actual music for the fight :D :D
This video motivated me, you are a beast! New sub btw.
I hope it helps!! It might take a bit of practice to get the timing down, but once it clicks, you'll unlock a whole new world of fun :)
Hello just wanted to comeback and comment how I got a solo cox deathless a while ago thanks to you and now yesterday I even did a solo cm. You are the best!
So epic dude!! Thanks for telling me about your success! Thats awesome
big thanks to you and naruto brotha, great video. I think im finally going to try and solo cox!
Awesome! It will take a little practice, but you can do it!
Naruto: Believe it!
Fantastic guide! Your explanation is incredible and really makes me feel like I can try it, after struggling with most high level PvM content outside of Vorkath lol.
Two questions:
1. Do you think Elite Void would be worthwhile here?
2. Do the points you earn change what your rewards can be? Like is there a threshold you need to stay above to qualify for a Tbow?
Literally started my first ever CoX last week and legitimately wanted to quit the game because of Olm after a few runs. Haven't tried it yet but this seems so much simpler than what Woox and Synq described and looking forward to trying it soon.
Love to hear it! GL, adventurer
This is actually amazing, you're instantly likeable too.
The only thing I am a bit unsure about, but I suppose I will learn over time, is when you splash on the mage hand, you don't seemingly walk back to the same tile each time, and I am not sure why.
On another topic completely, what was your character weight during this video? As an UIM it may be harder for us to get down to a similar weight, thus requiring more stamina pots.
Thanks again, much love!
So I didn't go fully into depth about why I sometimes run left, and sometimes change directions. That would be for a slightly more in-depth 3:0 guide. You can look up other 3:0 guides and they better explain what I did and why, or you can wait a bit because I plan to make more to help with olm.
Thank u very much for the complement :) Much appreciated.
My weight was roughly 34kg. I dont have the exact weight, but I tried to recreate the set for you.
Amazing, thank you!
As near maxed main with almost zero bossing experience, this earned my sub and im going to have to get into raiding just to give it a try.
Thanks! And good luck on your max cape!!
Hands down the best olm guide for noob like me. High sub count guides are just for high tier gear.
I think it's unrealistic to expect most first-time coxers to have such high-end gear. I figured most players have better gear than what I used, so hopefully with a little hard work and practice people can start learning to solo cox regardless of their budget :)
WOW! I just completed my first solo cox with full steel, an oak shortbow and fire staff!! WOWWWWEEEEEE
This got recommended to me, glad to see a great guide get seen by the algorithm. I play rs3 now but this was easily understandable and easily absorbed. Great work.
This is awesome, thank you
Since in melee you are attacking every 8 ticks, you have some other weird options that I believe are more DPS than whip/defender. For example, any godsword (plus you get awesome pray bonus so use piety for sure). I even think the colossal blade (thing from giant foundry) due to bonus from size of npc (the hand). I use just a bgs. It's chill and fast if you land good specs. Also during mage phase, use thralls. If you splash, the thralls usually make head turn also.
Bro i totally shoulda used the colossal blade! That woulda been awesome :o
That said, I was trying to use a budget setup that i figured at least 90% of players would be able to use. That's why i used whip/rune defender/glory/etc.
Wow this is amazing, never heard of this method before. Question tho. Is it possible to do solo scaled raids? And up to how much scaling would be possible alone? Also for like the rooms in general
Great video this - thank you, do you know if you could get 2x hits with the blow pipe on head phase doing 1:0 method with rcb?
This is incredible. Im around 650 chambers kc and have never done a no death solo olm. Never put the time in really to figure out the 4:1
Thanks! Maybe its time to give it another try :)?
If you are interested in 4:1, I made a guide on it that I think shows a simpler method than most 4:1 guides out there. (I like using easy methods, when possible)
Regardless, best of luck!
Subbed good guide beast
I just got my first solo kill and it’s entirely because of this video.
Thats sick man! GL on the fatty purps
Great video!
Nice video! I will test it out, very new to learning ticks and stuff (currently doing some mechanic withouth awareness of ticks, but using em unconsciously).
Does this tick parttern for range phase (1:0 or 1:head if I recall correctly) works with bowfa?.
Also, the melee 1:0 method works with any spec weapon? dwh/bgs hopefully?
Yes and yes! melee 1:0 and range 1:0 will work with literally any weapon :)
Good luck learning! 3:0 might pose a bit of a challenge, but I am confident you can do it!
Thank you very much for this guide. Today I sent my first solo cox because of this video. First I went to practice the methods and get to understand how the head works. I play from Brazil so my best ping is 145, I don't know if its because of this, but I feel its easier for me to click 1tick early. If I see Olm turning his head at 2, I click at 1 and it works very well.
I got the melee 1:0 very fast, and I feel I can set up at any time, but I still struggle with the 3:0 mage. When I mess up I can only set the cycle again if start all the way from the left of the room, in the last tile of the mage hand. When I try to setup from the middle, I mess up.
Any way, I died twice. In the second fase and in the head fase, because I was nervous, I made a lot of mistakes and had to set the cycle a lot of times. But it was very rewarding at the end.
I feel that I loose a lot of supplies in the rooms. Do you plan of doing a guide for the most common rooms? I wish more people could teach like you. I'm avoiding Vespula and Vanguards.
So happy you got a chance to try it! Keep practicing, it gets easier :)
I plan to make a video for all of the cox rooms!! Keep your eye out for it, its coming soon!
Great vid. Imagine showing up in this gear and pulling a tbow lol
you're a beast bro
Something I learned watching this was that Olm's "attack tick" on a 4-tick pattern went from 1 to 3 to 1 again, so I am guessing once you start the fight you will know exactly when his attack tick will be on every phase. If it starts at 1, it will be 1-3-1-1; 2 will be 2-4-2-2; etc, for each phase, respectively. Didn't wanna count the ticks in between phases but it's probably divisible by 6 and on a static timer.
P.S. Thanks for the video, this is a great place to get a lot of CA points early on for any new(ish) account!
Not necessarily.
I have also noticed that this happens often, so what you say could be reasonably true in most cases. But the REAL deciding factor, as far as I am aware, is what tick you actually kill the phase on. I have never dived deeper into this sort of theory, but depending on what tick you kill olm on will dictate his "attack tick" for the next phase.
But, you are close. The pattern you mentioned does happen quite often.
@@VideoGameBot Interesting, that makes sense that it would relate to when you end the phase - but that should be at the same point in the cycle consistently, too, I think? I'll be heading there soon and trying to figure it out lol
@@wandernaut Well we can get a little technical here, if you want?
Let's say you are doing 1:0, and olms head moves on tick 1.
You run on 1, you hit the hand on 3, the hand dies on 3, and the transition phase begins. You were 2 ticks off of when his head turned, therefore it might make sense that the next phase is off by 2 ticks.
Phase 2, he turns on tick 3. You are still doing 1:0. Now you run on 3, 2 ticks later you hit olm. He dies on Tick 1. Another 2 tick offset.
Phase 3 begins, 2 tick offset occurs, back to tick 1.
So if you are doing your 1:0 correctly, it makes sense that there is a 2 tick offset between phases. If you attack a little early, or a little late, this may not be the case.
I am not 100% sure about this. Just kinda theory crafting here. But I like theory crafting :3
Let me know what you find out!
Naruto the chinchilla did it for me I subscribed instantly
My total experience with CoX so far is the 1 KC for diary that I brute forced after a 90 minute solo raid.
Was curious about something. Given the buff to salamanders with Varlamore, is it possible to do the 1:0 melee method on the mage hand with salamander set to magic? Personally find the 1:0 methods a lot more consistent to 'afk' compared to having to pay attention for a splash. Assuming it works, it would allow doing the whole fight with 1:0s. Assume it would as it is the only melee length magic weapon in the game, but haven't had the chance to try it yet as still need to get the new salamander as a drop.
