Man... Your guide sealed the deal so I could finally get a deathless KC and I'm already refining my errors while maintaining consistent deathless KC's. Out of all the guides I have watched, you have encapsulated the goal you sought after - a concise guide that perfectly has structure to answer the common questions a learner would have and executed efficiently. So beautifully done man... the key for me was that 1:0 setup and addressing how to deal with errors. This video is so good, I mage skip with buddies all the time and have a really deep understanding of the fight but everytime Ive tried to solo 4:1 I end up getting specials and panicking and not knowing how to get back into cycle and just giving up, i now know your timing has to be perfect, 3:0 is easy but as soon as that mage hand dies i end up throwing, now that cox is updated and i dont have to scout with an alt, Im gunna be committing to learning 4:1 and your vid is golden, thanks so much for this

Flame skip part was a bit much for me but other than that banger video, very easy to follow along with. Spend about 2 hour running and reseting and things seem to have clicked

By far the best guide I've seen I've been doing solos for a long time and I've just understood why it sometimes double auto attacks instantly with special attack.
Got to be the best content creator ever asked him to do a raid with me we go on one the same day and we spent 2 hours going over what I was confused about over discord he didn't get aggravated at me for messing up or anything what a legend!

Just started solos myself. Huge thanks for the vid. I am starting to get deathless completions and I am moving to harder hitting gear so less pots and more switches. Took me a good while to get the pathing and will take me a while longer to guarantee the golden 4:1 haha. But got the path down and have clear improvements each time.

My apologies for the late reply! no kiddinnnnn though, that acid trail really messes it up LOL theres a bunch of different ways to do it, whether you're on the final phase or not. I'd recommend learning acid walks MAINly based on flame wall 4:1 pathway. You'll typically always do that type of 4:1 during the final phase, as well as the flame phase, so it'll be the most common for your muscle memory, and very relevant during p3. Of course you could watch dozens of Olms, but I believe there's a really good 4:1 video that shows different acid walks by Synderis. It's always nice to have multiple perspectives

Hi, if you're still reading these comments, there's only one more Olm mechanic that I'm not completely understanding, which is head turns. When does Olm turn head? I understand that Olm tries to look at the max amount of people at once, which is why running in trios+ works, but if it is going to attack, either from a queued-up attack or an on-cycle attack, he will prefer to do that attack as long as he currently sees someone (therefore each side tanks a hit). He will gladly turn on the special/null attack, though (when he has "spare time" from his basic attacks). But what confuses me is, when exactly does he look to the middle instead of the side? For example in 4:1 he will look in the middle when you are on the left side, but in duos, he will look at the left side when the mage/runner is there. My only guess is it's related to whether or not you skipped a basic attack.
So you’re right, he only turns his head during special/nulls unless there’s no one in his sight. If no one is in his sight he’ll turn his head and if an auto attack is where he was in cycle (when he turned instead) then he’ll do two auto attacks next to each other or a special+auto and an auto attack at once. What I think is the answer is the damage counts as a weight. So in solo imagine mage running. When you hit 0 and go middle left it goes middle but when you hit and go mid left it goes left. So in 4:1 it goes middle (turns head) when you don’t do damage right before the null or the special if you’re mid right, it’ll turn. So for4:1 if you’re second AND third hits miss (which is before and after the auto respectively) it’ll turn mid while you do your 4th hit (during the null) I’ll prolly have a better answer for you in a bit but if I didn’t lean towards answering it feel free to lemme know. I may be reading your question wrong lol but I appreciate you checkin the vid out! Like I said I’ll re read your question in a bit to double check my answer tho
I think the short answer is damage. If you’re left side in solo and do no damage to any hand he’ll look left. Mid left and mid right he’ll go middle and right side he’ll look right. But your damage weighs it’s decision of where to look as well. But if you do damage to the mage hand and stand mid right it’ll be facing middle. So if it’s a 1:1 weight (you vs your hit on the opposite side) it’ll prioritize the player not the damage
@@ThePerfectG Yeah I think this helps, I'm just not sure what exactly it is I want to know. We figured it may have been related to damage output as well. I'm still a bit confused about why he turns at all in duos when the runner is middle-left (I guess he sees every look option as equal, and prefers turning over just idling?)
@@Zakru well in duo if 1 is on the right and 1 is on the mid left, and theres no damage being dealt, he'll go mid during a null/special. same situation but if damage is dealt to mage, he'll go left but if damage is dealt to melee hand he'll go/stay middle regardless. I believe this to be true but its all precise. so the damage dealt/where the players are standing determines where he looks, but only based on what happened in a small window prior to the next null/special.
if you want to, you can download shadowplay. Im not sure entirely how it works but you can set up a hotkey to record the previous X amount of minutes. so it runs smoothly in ur background. if you wanna trim that down and DM me a clip on discord im more than willing to look and see exactly what's going on. but you and ur duo partner are probably right assuming its due to where damage was dealt, and also when that damage was dealt.

Yes and no. So the pathway I took is specifically the path you take because you know it’s 4:1. And it was slightly improvised. But it will always work. If it’s not 4:1 and you get the acid second attack it can be a bit confusing and you’d have to do a 3:1 acid to fix. So definitely focus on the mechanics of acid just as much if not more than any specific path. Cause there’s a few different ones you’ll end up wanting to know
Hey! I'm looking for some clarification on how you recommend getting into the 1:0 and what that should look like. From the looks of it, we need to be attacking on the thumb simultaneously with Olm turning his head to the middle. That's how we know we're in cycle. I just sorta tried to get into a 1:0, and instead a 1:1 was happening, so I knew I needed to actually set something up. So here's my thought process: run to the right side so his head turns to the right (during this, I'd try and DWH spec)...then run to tile 1 and stand there, timing his head turning to the middle with an attack on the thumb. And I think at this point, rather than continuing a 1:0 for no reason, you can try and start your 4:1 at this point. Thoughts? And I'm sure there is a really smooth way to get into a 1:0 immediately after the mage hand dies, but I'll learn that down the line.
I don't think it's a bad idea. but regardless of how you do it, whether you time it that way or not, it all boils down to timing. So getting a feel for when Olm moves his head. its every 4 ticks. One of the issues that you may have on your timing (when you attack from tile 1) is you may be waiting for ur character to attack for certain and then u move. this isn't right. If you look at your weapon (and i think i show it at some point slowed down during a 4:1 section) you'll notice your lance starts moving before you reach the thumb. this is why you're able to do things like acid walks but only when you're meleeing, because you clicking to attack the hand (On the same tick that you're able to attack - meaning the cooldown of the weapon) starts before you reach aka a drag. similar to mage running how you get dragged from the far right when you attack. its the same concept as that. but really if you're tanking 1 hit on the 1:0 run then you're just late somewhere. maybe it's because you're clicking to attack the thumb as a REACTION to the head turn rather than a prediction? the reason 1:0 is the same attack formation so to speak as 4:1 first hit is because there are 2 ticks to reach the thumb. so technically speaking, 1:0 you click to attack on the same tick as when you mage run, but you just happen to land it a tick later (but not two ticks because of that aforementioned drag) I hope that wasn't too confusing, i know i said a lot lol but to practice it maybe just try running between tile 1 and 3 without doing any hits and make sure that olm cant hit you back. if you can figure that timing out its pretty much the same. but when you reach tile 1 you click attack and just about instantly click tile 3 but again, in regards to my thoughts on your idea, it definitely works if it helps you. hammering on the right side, running left and waiting a tick, but you may tank a hit so that could cause you to get stuck in a flame wall or get screwed over by an acid/crystal trail which wouldn't be fun

I actually misread what you said - im gunna edit this with an add on response edit: i thought u meant hammering on the right, but i see what u mean now. hammering as ur hit of 1:0. thats totally fine it wont change anything. and the amount of 1:0 you do wont change anything either. if you tank a hit you're just late somewhere which was what my response before was in regards to. the idea of doing 1:0 was more so to get ready (mentally and gear switches). immediately as you kill mage hand you can begin running to the right to turn the head. the issue is if you run too fast (depending where you finish off mage hand) you may jack the had far left -> far right instead of letting it go middle first. which is honestly fine IF YOU KNOW that it's about to happen. but in most cases learning you won't. and that's a bit hard to notice but it's a skill that you can develop in teams, as well. but yeah - my thoughts on it - you can start 4:1 from any point, you just have to know the timing
If you’re timing is right you’re not stopping on a tile. You’re there just for 1 tick, which is the tick you move onto it. If you stand on the tile for 1 tick as well that would be two ticks and might be where you’re going wrong

But as far as general use, I think practically 4:1s still better with a lance but I could be wrong! It’s a lot of fun having a good 5t weapon tho to mix it up but I take much more damage. But as far as tekton vasa baby mutta even lol so good
I simply can't wrap my head around how 4:2 even happens. The cycle is ANAS, and 4:2 would mean you're skipping N and S. Which makes no sense, since when running the head, you're skipping 2 consecutive attacks, meaning you always skip an A. Can someone explain this to me?
It happens cause you skipped the auto before the null. A before N. When you skip the auto, it will add it to the next hit. So auto happens at the same time as the null. And this looks like just the auto happening. But because the null happens at the same time it looks like it’s not there. But that’s why the 2 auto attacks in 4:2 are so close together. I hope this makes sense, if not let me know lol I can try again xD but you’re right it’s cause you’re skipping an auto when it happens when you normally would’ve been skipping a special (if 4:1) And thanks for checkin out the video (:
It’s the same reason as, if you skipped the other auto (the one before the special) you get a special plus an auto at the same time and then a quick second auto attack
what is the yellow bar on the melee hand at 1:30? does that mean the hand has healed itself? Update: I watched another vid to double check: it looks like I should get the other hand to very low health first to it can be killed quickly after "killing" the hand with the yellow bar, otherwise yellow bar hand will fully heal itself.
Right, you gotta kill ‘em at the same time (within the span of that yellow bar). Remember this question when you’re higher kc xD But also, during the start and the end of that yellow bar when the hand goes down and revives, respectively, if olm were to do a special, it’ll be nulled instead so it may be confusing where you are in the cycle. Ok so I’m confused about the 3rd and 4th scenarios: 1st is 1 auto you’re in 4:1 2nd is 2 auto - do 3:1 to get into 4:1 3rd is 1auto with a special at same time? 4th is only a special?
So how do you get into 1:0? You recommend starting with it but don't demonstrate how to. There is the Aatykon method which is the only one I'm familiar with but in the video you suggested not using that so I'm just curious how you go about getting into 4:1 from scratch.
You click between tile 1 and tile 3. Back and forth. If u get attacked, you're off tick. hence 1:0. u do 1. olm does 0. So you do that without hitting and just run back n forth and then when ur ready you hit from tile 1 and move to tile 3 and do the same thing. but instead of doing nothing ur hitting. its in there o: But i left a longer example of it in the description :p The aatykon method will work fine, i was just saying it has flaws (which isn't new to hear, aaty said it too) so I didnt stick to it too long since there was already his full video on it. and to answer your last question, the way i explain it in the video is assume you're in 4:1. and then fix it if you're not in 4:1. this way there are no flaws and you learn to not lose DPS setting it up. or maybe a couple hits in the worst case. its the 4 possibilities. hello, nice guide! i do have a question. Let say i'm doing 4:1 just fine, then i decide to do 1:0 once or a couple times for whatever reason, can i go back to 4:1 right after without messing up olm attack cycle? asking this since 1:0 makes the head turn faster without actually doing any attack, similar to 3:1 which makes olm spec you every 4 cycles
been watching that part more closely, and it looks like 1:0 lasts 8 ticks while 4:1 for 16 ticks? so twice, 4, 6... times may be the answer to keep the ideal olm cycle while 4:1?
Yeah I think you got it right. I did a lot of little 1:0 and different 3:1 to force olm to gimme certain clips. From being in 4:1 doing an even number of 1:0 will keep you in 4:1. This video is so good, I mage skip with buddies all the time and have a really deep understanding of the fight but everytime Ive tried to solo 4:1 I end up getting specials and panicking and not knowing how to get back into cycle and just giving up, i now know your timing has to be perfect, 3:0 is easy but as soon as that mage hand dies i end up throwing, now that cox is updated and i dont have to scout with an alt, Im gunna be committing to learning 4:1 and your vid is golden, thanks so much for this

Solo olm is like learning the whole boss fight over again in a new light, so other than tick perfect, you may find yourself doing some team habits in solos that may screw you up a bit!

Just started solos myself. Huge thanks for the vid. I am starting to get deathless completions and I am moving to harder hitting gear so less pots and more switches. Took me a good while to get the pathing and will take me a while longer to guarantee the golden 4:1 haha. But got the path down and have clear improvements each time.

no kiddinnnnn though, that acid trail really messes it up LOL theres a bunch of different ways to do it, whether you're on the final phase or not. I'd recommend learning acid walks MAINly based on flame wall 4:1 pathway. You'll typically always do that type of 4:1 during the final phase, as well as the flame phase, so it'll be the most common for your muscle memory, and very relevant during p3. Of course you could watch dozens of Olms, but I believe there's a really good 4:1 video that shows different acid walks by Synderis. It's always nice to have multiple perspectives

Hi, if you're still reading these comments, there's only one more Olm mechanic that I'm not completely understanding, which is head turns. When does Olm turn head?
I understand that Olm tries to look at the max amount of people at once, which is why running in trios+ works, but if it is going to attack, either from a queued-up attack or an on-cycle attack, he will prefer to do that attack as long as he currently sees someone (therefore each side tanks a hit). He will gladly turn on the special/null attack, though (when he has "spare time" from his basic attacks).
But what confuses me is, when exactly does he look to the middle instead of the side? For example in 4:1 he will look in the middle when you are on the left side, but in duos, he will look at the left side when the mage/runner is there. My only guess is it's related to whether or not you skipped a basic attack.
So you’re right, he only turns his head during special/nulls unless there’s no one in his sight. If no one is in his sight he’ll turn his head and if an auto attack is where he was in cycle (when he turned instead) then he’ll do two auto attacks next to each other or a special+auto and an auto attack at once.
What I think is the answer is the damage counts as a weight. So in solo imagine mage running. When you hit 0 and go middle left it goes middle but when you hit and go mid left it goes left. So in 4:1 it goes middle (turns head) when you don’t do damage right before the null or the special if you’re mid right, it’ll turn. So for4:1 if you’re second AND third hits miss (which is before and after the auto respectively) it’ll turn mid while you do your 4th hit (during the null)
I’ll prolly have a better answer for you in a bit but if I didn’t lean towards answering it feel free to lemme know. I may be reading your question wrong lol but I appreciate you checkin the vid out! Like I said I’ll re read your question in a bit to double check my answer tho
I think the short answer is damage. If you’re left side in solo and do no damage to any hand he’ll look left. Mid left and mid right he’ll go middle and right side he’ll look right. But your damage weighs it’s decision of where to look as well. But if you do damage to the mage hand and stand mid right it’ll be facing middle. So if it’s a 1:1 weight (you vs your hit on the opposite side) it’ll prioritize the player not the damage

I'm still a bit confused about why he turns at all in duos when the runner is middle-left (I guess he sees every look option as equal, and prefers turning over just idling?)
@@Zakru well in duo if 1 is on the right and 1 is on the mid left, and theres no damage being dealt, he'll go mid during a null/special.
same situation but if damage is dealt to mage, he'll go left
but if damage is dealt to melee hand he'll go/stay middle regardless. I believe this to be true but its all precise. so the damage dealt/where the players are standing determines where he looks, but only based on what happened in a small window prior to the next null/special.
if you want to, you can download shadowplay. Im not sure entirely how it works but you can set up a hotkey to record the previous X amount of minutes. so it runs smoothly in ur background. if you wanna trim that down and DM me a clip on discord im more than willing to look and see exactly what's going on. but you and ur duo partner are probably right assuming its due to where damage was dealt, and also when that damage was dealt.

Yes and no. So the pathway I took is specifically the path you take because you know it’s 4:1. And it was slightly improvised. But it will always work. If it’s not 4:1 and you get the acid second attack it can be a bit confusing and you’d have to do a 3:1 acid to fix. So definitely focus on the mechanics of acid just as much if not more than any specific path. Cause there’s a few different ones you’ll end up wanting to know

Hey! I'm looking for some clarification on how you recommend getting into the 1:0 and what that should look like. From the looks of it, we need to be attacking on the thumb simultaneously with Olm turning his head to the middle. That's how we know we're in cycle. I just sorta tried to get into a 1:0, and instead a 1:1 was happening, so I knew I needed to actually set something up. So here's my thought process: run to the right side so his head turns to the right (during this, I'd try and DWH spec)...then run to tile 1 and stand there, timing his head turning to the middle with an attack on the thumb. And I think at this point, rather than continuing a 1:0 for no reason, you can try and start your 4:1 at this point. Thoughts? And I'm sure there is a really smooth way to get into a 1:0 immediately after the mage hand dies, but I'll learn that down the line.
I don't think it's a bad idea. but regardless of how you do it, whether you time it that way or not, it all boils down to timing. So getting a feel for when Olm moves his head. its every 4 ticks. One of the issues that you may have on your timing (when you attack from tile 1) is you may be waiting for ur character to attack for certain and then u move. this isn't right. If you look at your weapon (and i think i show it at some point slowed down during a 4:1 section) you'll notice your lance starts moving before you reach the thumb. this is why you're able to do things like acid walks but only when you're meleeing, because you clicking to attack the hand (On the same tick that you're able to attack - meaning the cooldown of the weapon) starts before you reach aka a drag. similar to mage running how you get dragged from the far right when you attack. its the same concept as that.
but really if you're tanking 1 hit on the 1:0 run then you're just late somewhere. maybe it's because you're clicking to attack the thumb as a REACTION to the head turn rather than a prediction? the reason 1:0 is the same attack formation so to speak as 4:1 first hit is because there are 2 ticks to reach the thumb. so technically speaking, 1:0 you click to attack on the same tick as when you mage run, but you just happen to land it a tick later (but not two ticks because of that aforementioned drag)
I hope that wasn't too confusing, i know i said a lot lol but to practice it maybe just try running between tile 1 and 3 without doing any hits and make sure that olm cant hit you back. if you can figure that timing out its pretty much the same. but when you reach tile 1 you click attack and just about instantly click tile 3
but again, in regards to my thoughts on your idea, it definitely works if it helps you. hammering on the right side, running left and waiting a tick, but you may tank a hit so that could cause you to get stuck in a flame wall or get screwed over by an acid/crystal trail which wouldn't be fun

i thought u meant hammering on the right, but i see what u mean now. hammering as ur hit of 1:0. thats totally fine it wont change anything. and the amount of 1:0 you do wont change anything either. if you tank a hit you're just late somewhere which was what my response before was in regards to. the idea of doing 1:0 was more so to get ready (mentally and gear switches). immediately as you kill mage hand you can begin running to the right to turn the head. the issue is if you run too fast (depending where you finish off mage hand) you may jack the had far left -> far right instead of letting it go middle first. which is honestly fine IF YOU KNOW that it's about to happen. but in most cases learning you won't. and that's a bit hard to notice but it's a skill that you can develop in teams, as well. but yeah - my thoughts on it - you can start 4:1 from any point, you just have to know the timing
If you’re timing is right you’re not stopping on a tile. You’re there just for 1 tick, which is the tick you move onto it. If you stand on the tile for 1 tick as well that would be two ticks and might be where you’re going wrong

Welcome back! FANG IS DISGUSTING lol so good. But for olm specifically I don’t know if it’d better or worse than scythe in 7:3 melee or mage. But as far as general use, I think practically 4:1s still better with a lance but I could be wrong! It’s a lot of fun having a good 5t weapon tho to mix it up but I take much more damage.
But as far as tekton vasa baby mutta even lol so good
I simply can't wrap my head around how 4:2 even happens. The cycle is ANAS, and 4:2 would mean you're skipping N and S. Which makes no sense, since when running the head, you're skipping 2 consecutive attacks, meaning you always skip an A. Can someone explain this to me?
It happens cause you skipped the auto before the null. A before N. When you skip the auto, it will add it to the next hit. So auto happens at the same time as the null. And this looks like just the auto happening. But because the null happens at the same time it looks like it’s not there. But that’s why the 2 auto attacks in 4:2 are so close together.
I hope this makes sense, if not let me know lol I can try again xD but you’re right it’s cause you’re skipping an auto when it happens when you normally would’ve been skipping a special (if 4:1)

It’s the same reason as, if you skipped the other auto (the one before the special) you get a special plus an auto at the same time and then a quick second auto attack

Update: I watched another vid to double check: it looks like I should get the other hand to very low health first to it can be killed quickly after "killing" the hand with the yellow bar, otherwise yellow bar hand will fully heal itself.
Right, you gotta kill ‘em at the same time (within the span of that yellow bar). Remember this question when you’re higher kc xD
But also, during the start and the end of that yellow bar when the hand goes down and revives, respectively, if olm were to do a special, it’ll be nulled instead so it may be confusing where you are in the cycle.

So how do you get into 1:0? You recommend starting with it but don't demonstrate how to. There is the Aatykon method which is the only one I'm familiar with but in the video you suggested not using that so I'm just curious how you go about getting into 4:1 from scratch.
You click between tile 1 and tile 3. Back and forth. If u get attacked, you're off tick. hence 1:0. u do 1. olm does 0.
So you do that without hitting and just run back n forth and then when ur ready you hit from tile 1 and move to tile 3 and do the same thing. but instead of doing nothing ur hitting. its in there o: But i left a longer example of it in the description :p The aatykon method will work fine, i was just saying it has flaws (which isn't new to hear, aaty said it too) so I didnt stick to it too long since there was already his full video on it.
and to answer your last question, the way i explain it in the video is assume you're in 4:1. and then fix it if you're not in 4:1. this way there are no flaws and you learn to not lose DPS setting it up. or maybe a couple hits in the worst case. its the 4 possibilities.

hello, nice guide! i do have a question. Let say i'm doing 4:1 just fine, then i decide to do 1:0 once or a couple times for whatever reason, can i go back to 4:1 right after without messing up olm attack cycle? asking this since 1:0 makes the head turn faster without actually doing any attack, similar to 3:1 which makes olm spec you every 4 cycles
been watching that part more closely, and it looks like 1:0 lasts 8 ticks while 4:1 for 16 ticks? so twice, 4, 6... times may be the answer to keep the ideal olm cycle while 4:1?
Yeah I think you got it right. I did a lot of little 1:0 and different 3:1 to force olm to gimme certain clips. From being in 4:1 doing an even number of 1:0 will keep you in 4:1. Doing 1 1:0 will give you 4:2.
