  • The Shopping Channel hands over to Sky Movies on Astra 1A on Thursday 5th April 1990. After a nice opening montage and promotions for films, there is an edition of Reel Work which looks at the technology behind Animatronics in Hollywood films.

Amazed it took Monty Python and the Holy Grail so long to be shown on British television! I don't know if it was the first terrestrial showing, but BBC2 showed it on New Year's Eve in 1992.

I would absolutely LOVE to have a VBI capture of the Sky Movies - especially the changeover from clear to scrambled! Are you able to capture this?

Hi @CaptainJack406 could you PM me on the SatsUK forum and I'll arrange to get the original tape to you. I love the work you've done with HackTV and would love to discuss it with you. I've got a new account on SatsUK under the same username as here, but as it's new, I can't use PM to message you directly. Thanks.

@@retunerman Cheers, glad to help. I'm lucky to have alot of old TV listings for both terrestrial and Sky channels from the 1990s which I've gathered from newspaper archives.

If the incompetence that was BSB management has secured the rights to all the movie studios, neither Sky nor BSB would have paid the ridiculous amounts of money they did to outbid each other. Saying that I think BSB got the better studios but it didn’t matter at the end of the day
