- Imagine stocking your tank with 40+ of the best angels and tangs on earth? Thomas imagined it and then went ahead and made it happen!
Sit back and enjoy a tour of every reefers wet dream of fish list in the one tank. Let me present to you, Thomas Cheer.
Wow anybody in this hobby know how hard it is to have this type of fish and corals together. good job mate!!!
Thomas has done well!
Not only that
Keeping those acanthurus varities tangs together meaning those powder blues Achilles sohal powder brown
Not only one I can see in pairs same varies like 2 powder blue, 2 powder brown, 2 Achilles
Is truly a remarkable job @@ParkersReef
@@KolkataMarineHobbyist yes stellar effort!
Wow, stunning!!
ANYONE WHO COULD KEEP A moorish idol FOR OVER A YEAR IS A PRO IN MY BOOK
Agreed, tough fish!
@@ParkersReef HAVE YOU SEEN MULTIPLE DIFFERENT ANGELS IN THE REEF?!?!
Yes this is the trophy winner of the story, I’ve housed mated emperors with about a third of that load in a full Reef system for years, but could never keep the Moorish idol for more than a month or two. But I always tried shooting for Ultra nutrients, that was the eye-opener for me is the fact that he’s pulling this off with stupid phosphates and nitrates! It kind of changed my view reality is algae is going to grow better in a high nutrient tank, and especially the tangs who are crazy grazers that may be the trick. Thank you so much for posting this.
VERY inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!!! THank you for showing us your beautiful tank!
Thanks for watching!!
First time I see my favorite fish, Moorish idol, happy in a tank with other fish. had to paus the video many times just to see what fish are there. Every time someone comes and defies all what's common. thanks for the video Parker
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful and most, most impressive!
thank you!
Wow.. .what heavenly reef candy for my eyes this morning in the U.S.A.Thx soo. much ☺
Hahaha glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely stunning !!!! Wow !
Glad you like it!
Great vid guys. Extraordinary fish collection.
Thank you!!
Thomas has an exquisite stock list of tangs & angels. Beautiful set up. He’s right, don’t go cheap on equipment as you pay for quality. Thanks for the tour. 👍
He’s a clever lad and his tank speaks volumes about his knowledge and experience
Awesome, great job!
thank you!
Wow, so many colorful fish.
It’s a stunning tank! Thanks for watching :)
This is REALLY amazing because I have seen this tank before but this time we heard from Thomas and there is so much wisdom in what he is saying. Incredible. A multibar is definitely on my list - I thought they were from deeper water and generally don't nip at coral - anyhow that's another part of QT that is often overlooked - so awesome to here him say that if you feed a lot and have them on prepared food they won't nip.
Thomas is a living legend, it was my pleasure to bring the footage to you
Such an awesome looking tank, love the amount of angels in there too 😍
everyone loves an angel!

By far my favorite tank perfect balance between fish and coral
It's got considerably more fish than what most people can even dream to keep - that is for sure!
What a good video and duo for this vid, loved that Thomas went over his QT methods, would love to see that coral qt!
thanks for watching and leaving such a kind comment!

i just have to keep watching this video, lovely...
Hahaha it’s pretty nice fish list hey?!
Fantastic
Cheers for watching!!
Absolutely love this tank! It was great seeing the Sohal and clown tang coexistence in relative harmony with all the other tangs! Two of my favorite fish ever but always categorized as tank killers! Formerly I had a Sohal for about five years but had to rehome him due to a move. Setting up a 600 gallon now and this gives me encouragement to have a couple of my dream fish!
Theres always a bit of bickering but they live in peace 😊
Same as my two and I've seen this tank in person many many times ✌️
Truly envious that you have seen this tank in person! Thanks for sharing. Those two tangs are highest on my list!
thanks guys!
@feet 4 fish Shame you had to give your sohal away especially after 5 yrs. Hopefully you get the apportunity to keep another one. My sohal is 4 yrs old one of my favourite tangs. It lives peacefully with 2 convicts, lavender, powder blue, sail fin, yellow, blue hippo ( Dory) and my 6 yr old beast vlamingi tang. About to add my favourite fish a purple tang in 3 days ( in QT atm).
Amazing tank, I had to get rid of my moorish idol when it started to nip my Oregon tort, still a bit bitter about that. Great content as always, it's people like you that makes this hobby thrive. Thanks again
thanks for the kind words mate!
Awesome tank
It’s a beauty!
Would love to see more of what he does with acrylic, Thomas made me an awesome “filter sock cup holder thingy” his work is awesome!
yeah he makes some amazing stuff! I didn't want to take anything away from his tank though, but you will see some more of his products in an upcoming store tour :)
That’s a true dream tank sooooo gorgeous 10/10 from San Francisco California
its a stunner huh!
The most impressive collection of fish I’ve ever seen absolutely Beautiful 👍👍👍 AWESOME DISPLAY AND GREAT LOOKING CORALS TO !!!
it's crazy nice huh!
A most impressive collection of fish and husbandry. To keep such a quantity and variety of healthy and, disease-free fish... Such an astounding grouping of specimens in one finely balanced reef such as this is amazing to be able to witness. A great example of saltwater and reef keeping that differs from what is commonly thought possible. Proof that if done in a controlled and thought-out manner. Those previous seemingly unbeatable challenges become a small obstacle in a larger successful operation.
Thanks for sharing this gem with us Parker and to Thomas!
First time in a long time I have enjoyed the fish more than the coral. Well done sir. Well done. 👏
Thanks mate!
Parkers Reef Angels are what got me into keeping saltwater tanks. Now I keep a reef tank and can’t keep angels because I can’t afford a reef large enough to house them. I had a bellus for years but I lost her the other day. She was fine then she wasn’t and I haven’t seen her in over a week. She’s gone. 😢
Oh so sorry to hear!
Amazing
It's a pretty spectacular system that is for sure!
Super impressive
that it is!
Just wanted to clarify the QT period for Coral .
I leave them in a fish-less tank that has been fish-less from the start . I do 90 days cause I like an insurance policy of 18 days. By adding new coral doesn’t start the count cause I don’t have a host ( fish ) in the tank so the cycle is broke. . What I’m Qting for is cyst that may come in on a coral that can last up to 72 days . They need to feed on a host to continue the cycle or die within 24-36 hrs . Hope that helps
Thomas Cheer also
I failed to mention not to add the LFS water into the holding tanks as that can carry a part of the ich cycle
thanks Thomas :)
Oh, man... That's what I call a collection!
hehehe yeah, Thomas has all the cool fish
wicked tank mate , my fish are impeccable as well because I feed them , yes I battle the phos but people who starv there fish will hav probs its a toss up but he is rite just by looking at his tank angles and coral and its working excellent job
doesn't get much better!
I'm a freshwater guy,but this tank is the best I've seen WOW 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it! Perhaps we can convince you over to the dark side yet!
It sounds like a lot of work was put in.The payoff was just amazing
always a lot of work, but the results are worth it
unbelievable the acanthurus tangs are living peacefully together not to mention the rest incredible tank
It’s pretty sweet huh!
Holy smokes Batman wow never seen that much expensive fish in my life not even in LFS I THINK. UNBELIEVABLE
Pretty cool fish list huh!!!
I don't have enough eyes to look at everything I wanted to look at.
Hahaha I know right?!
I was amazed by this tank and then I saw a Morish idol swim causality swim through a group of angels not eating any corals and I feel like I have lied to my whole life
Hahahahaha, it is possible, but they can turn at any stage
He has even more fish than I do! Never seen that before. Also has my three favorite fish! Sigh. Just when you think your tank is doing well you see this.
Hahaha doesn’t mean your tank is any less!
I'm sure the treasury will approve looking forward
hahahaha here's hoping!
Great Video 👍. I am also a true believer in QT everything. It would have been interesting to have a tour of the QT systems and routines (namely coral QT as it is. Ot easy to keep sensitive corals in a sterile tank for 90 days)
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yeah we should have showed the QT system as it would have answered a lot of questions, was just that Thomas didn’t want his QT inhabitants shown to the world at that point in time :)
so what is his quarentine method? I couldn't understand what he said.
Amazing tank.
I would be curious to know if the cleaner wrasser does well, long term, with these many fishes as food source.
Great success with the cleaner wrasse. No shortage of food for them in this tank!
Amazing tank! At 13:46 you can see there is a clown fish swimming around inside the reef octopus skimmer on the right. Hopefully he got him out of there before it is too late!
😱
Holy smokes!!!! I'll get him to check, I was pretty sure Thomas only had the two clowns and they were accounted for. So perhaps it was a bit of skimmer sludge? I'll have him check anyway!
pleased to say that I got in touch with Thomas and it is not a clownfish (despite looking a lot like it!!) I actually made him stop his skimmer and show me on video that it is just a bacterial slime from dosing nopox :P
But thank you for the astute viewing and letting us know!

hi is there any tricks you use when introducing the fish, ie certain times, couple at a time, night time ect to help with any of aggression in the first time of being put in the tank im amazed how many varieties all doing well, in the uk all you see is videos you carnt put that fish with that, carnt have that tang with that ect ect i introduced my first copperband to my reef the powder blue anoyed him so much had to remove and take back
many thanks
Best trick I can give you is to introduce them at night. Fish are less likely to come out and chase when they are all in their beds for the night. Gives the new fish a solid 8 hours to settle before the lights come on and the existing fish come out again
Parabens 🇧🇷👍
thank you
Holy Crap! What an amazing collection of angels and tangs.. Simply amazing to have that many in a tank that size. Great video. Marine Angels are my favs and he has just about all sold in the ornamental aquarium trade. Is that a Lenarrdi Wrasse towards the end of the video?
Glad you enjoyed it! I believe it is a large lenardi yes :)
Great tank! Often we see great tanks with so many fish. How is this high stocking maintained? How do so many manage to put non-reef safe fish into a reef tank? What’s the secrets?
He mentioned in the video a couple of the “tricks”.
Tank transfer method for all fish, quarantining every piece of coral and feed LOTS to reduce aggression and coral eating :)
Epic
it's a heck of a tank!
WOW!!!!!!! THATS ALL I CAN SAY 👏👏👏👏👏
Hehe pretty cool huh?!
Yes indeed
Hi
Did he finally say what his nutrients levels were
Great to see all those fish, and glad to hear they will be going into a bigger tank
Cheers from England, your tank is looking awesome by the way 👏👏
hey Lee, he did not :) The nitrates are off the charts, which I find super interesting as Thomas is still able to grow gorgeous corals!
@@ParkersReef thanks for the reply, yes very surprised at that, fantastic tank, he is doing large water changes each week, so that is a large commitment, I run triton so unless serious issues I don't, but running mixed reef, current NO3 is 25, phos on the hanna is 0.00, so dose Neophos by Brightwell Aquatics
Absolutely stunning , whats your secret into introducing the same species fish ?
Yeah good question, hopefully Thomas will reply
Absolutely beautiful tank, what was the name of the fish quarantine method?
Tank Transfer Method
What kind of tang is the big yellow one? Almost looks like an orange-shoulder tang, but I've never seen a lemon yellow one. Gorgeous fish, nice to see that sort of socking levels can be done.
could be a juvi orange shoulder?
Hi, very nice aquarium. How big is it? And what do you think it costs wirhout livestock, becouse the electrisity doesn't looks that price. Hope for a answer. Thanks and best wiches.
From memory the size is around 8x3 feet. Cost will vary depending on the quality of the build you opt for and electricity will also vary depending on what equipment you choose to run :)
Just read through the comments. I will Google tank transfer method. Fantastic tank . But it's only down to the guys total dedication. Weekly 30% water changes. Hats off to you sir😊. Certainly a case of getting what you put in. Could watch this tank for hours. Stunning collection of fish
Certainly no silver bullet to make it ‘easy’ the silver bullet is hard work
Guess this just proves you can’t overskim!
Not with that many fish 😅
Wow that’s insane! Does this guy have a blog or tank build thread anywhere?
You can follow him on Facebook via “anything acrylic”

pretty fish hey!?
Any chance for an update on this tank? Did he go with the bigger 8' x 5' tank?
I'd love to get back up and see Thomas and do an update. Hopefully one day soon. I believe he has the same tank running - but has scaled up the QT operating considerably
What was his quarantine method? I couldn't quite hear. I could hear he uses a bucket and that he doesn't use copper
Tank transfer method
What quarantine method is he using ? I couldn’t hear it clearly. The tank is awesome he really gets my hopes up, i have 9 tangs and i’m shooting for more
I found it in the comments, tank transfer method
sorry for the audio - yes, it is tank transfer method
Can you give more details on the quarantine methods for your corals and fish? TIA
Corals just sit in a fish free system for 90 days so any white spot dies out (no fish - they die)
The fish go through a process called “Tank transfer method” if you google that, you’ll find heaps of reading :)
@@ParkersReef thanks
Salute to Thomas, making impossible to possible. I am a fan! Got the same tank size and wanted to put Achilles, Powder Blue, and Powder Brown together. Any thoughts how to make this happen without them killing each other?
Yeah that is a challenge! Thomas is a big fan of TTM and would recommend that for all fish I am sure
Did Thomas tell you how he did such a neat job of the gutter guard in the vortech?
He did not, I assume it was just his amazing attention to detail and steady hand? 😜
Great video and Thomas a top bloke who offers fantastic quality stock. I bought a powder blue, convicts, blue tang and many more all pest free through his Anything QT business.
good stuff! Thomas is a great guy!
Seen some chasing and aggression going on in there.
A little, but just usual pecking order stuff. There are a lot of fish in there!
spread out the aggression... ya like if the Prisoners are fighting, just put more convicts in the cell, not stressful and unnatural at all? the pecking order is constantly under pressure.
How does someone go about QT/TTM of fish in qld in summer, especially if you dont have air conditioning and work full time? I definitely like the idea but unsure how it would go in qld in summer.
Thanks
I’d suggest you don’t :)
There are places that can do the process for you and considering the heat and lack of air con, I’d think it might be a bit steep of a challenge

Sunning tank! Thanks for videoing. Please invest on a couple of Lavalier mics. It was very echo-y and hard to understand. Australian accent is already hard to understand for an American, and w the low sound quality, I think I only understood 80% of it.
What was Thomas talking about his QT system? He doesn’t use tanks? He uses buckets?? How do you QT a large tang or large angel for 14 days in a bucket? Lol. I think I must have misheard.
I have now got the Rode wireless go, I hope the audio has improved?
What method of quarantine does he use? I couldn't understand anything he said.
Tank transfer method (TTM)
Where you buy is many rares hard to find like soho tang
Thomas collects over a long period of time :)
Don’t understand the quarantine of coral. If you have had a piece in quaratine for 80 days then add another piece, doesn’t that new piece restart the clock on the first? How do you know that the new piece has not brought in something which is now spread to the 80 day piece?
By having no fish within your Coral Quarantine, you're avoiding theronts. All trophonts die as there is no host. No older corals can be infected. Happy to go into detail if needed 😊
Jim Porter you can add coral to the QT because of the ich lifecycle. The corals are in QT because there might be ich cysts on them. Once the cysts “hatch” the free swimming ich organisms will die within a couple of days because there are no fish on which to host. 76 days is the longest observed period of the dormant cyst stage so each piece you put in QT just needs to stay for that long.
Joshua Turner yes but, you add a coral with ice cysts on them which burst and you now have free swimming ice in the water and potentially on othe other coral which you take out of QT and add to our DT thereby transferring the free swimming Ich. Unless you can rid those coral of the free swimmers by dipping or other before introducing to DT then you have contaminated the QT of your 80 day coral.
Yes you can potentially transfer water like you say . I usually do a 5-10 sec RO rinse then a dip before it goes into DT
Jim Porter completely agreed . Had the same thought.
Makes no sense
HOW DO YOU KEEP ALL THOSE ANGELS FROM FIGHTING . IM TRYING AND HAVING DIFICULTIES WITH A POTTERS AND A blacktail angelfish IN A 160. GALLON . ANY ADVISE WILL BE HELPFUL
keep them well fed and have plenty of spots to hide
@@ParkersReef yes they need to feel secure with places to retreat from danger just like on a natural reef. The fish are less stressed and maintain better health.
Correct :)
One of the healthiest tanks with the most rare knockout fish I've ever seen. Please ask how to maintain a Moorish Idol?
Lots of food is key :)
Angel s and tangs mixed together so cool. I bought rare angel s and Tang s from petco from all places
Naso tang. Cream angel . Kuran. angel. And Tang I can spell . Start s will a. S. And convicted tang.
sensational mix of fish!
Thomas says he quarantines his coral for 90 days, he also buys coral weekly so are the corals always entering the quarantine tank, wouldn't there be the possibility the new corals coming in could infect the coral leaving quarantine?
That was my thought exactly
He might not put them in the same coral QT tank together
@@ParkersReef but how many coral quarantine tanks does he use to operate that cycle?
@@shanebollard2392 I don't think Thomas actually buys a new piece of coral each week as he'd need 13 tanks to QT them all. I think he was just saying that you can do it that way.
Happy to help on this one!
as they're is no host, the ich which transitions from cyst to free swimming dies, it cannot reinfect. The whole point is that if no fish, each coral has a 90 day clock. I can take one coral out an hour later after I put a brand new piece in. Only one tank is required fellas.
The principal is avoiding putting in theronts. It is recommended shaking/dipping corals to prevent this.
What did he say about his nutrient levels?
that they are off the charts :)
No spots but is that lateral line decease?
Don’t think so?
Well.. it's an impressive collection and amazing they all cohabitate so well. But you should get a 1000g tank!😁👍
@@LuisManuelHdez it's in the works :)
Great tank but would love to understand the mentality of this weekly coral quarantine that he talked about to do that you would need 13 quarantine tanks just for coral so it's just pure rubbish. I know of people who have qt all their stock for 13-14 weeks and still have white spot but the difference is you are running both uv and ozone along side an excellent feeding regime and to me that is where the benefit is made if you are using uv correctly as most people don't they stick it as part of their return plumbing and fire 6000litres an hour through it when it should have about 600litres an hour through it max. Then people don't understand what ozone does and bang it on to low or whatever.
Keep going and would love to see your step by step setup for your next upgrade.
Hopefully Thomas will reply for you, but in short - no, he has just one coral QT tank.
Ich needs fish to continue its lifecycle. Free swimming Ich (Protomont, freshly dropping off a fish) has 18 hours to encrust. If it doesn't, the Ich dies then. After hatching from the encrusting stage, Ich has 24-48 hours to find a fish or die. So because of this, you can add coral to a coral/invert qt, and the timer doesn't reset. You are basically QT'ing for the encrusting stage (tomonts). Personally, I wait 4-7 days if I add fresh coral/inverts to my coral QT before adding to the DT, as extra insurance.
OH DAAMNN
hahahaha dom you're funny
Absolutely amazing loving the tangs. Do you know whether all the gangs where added at the same time?
I believe they were introduced in small groups or individually. Thomas makes/uses/sells incredible acclimation boxes that allow safe introduction of new fish a breeze
