  • I've driven the new Aston Martin Vantage on track and have been looking forward to driving it on the road. I wasn't disappointed.
    Divisive styling on the outside, a stunning V8 but sourced from AMG. I talk through the car in detail both inside and out and then out it through it's paces on my favourite roads.
    A huge thank to Aston Martin Chichester for letting me play with their new demonstrator.

    The exhaust is perfectly fine. This car outshines the lambo. Aston Martin has really did it now! My dream car is the vantage!

    Watching this in Jan 2024. Verdict? It's really grown on me. My brother has recently bought one in blue with gloss black details and roof, drilled and crackle-finish side blade/vent, with the sports quad exhaust. The body colour reveals the contours beautifully. The lights have 'grown' on me too. Only the exhaust needs improvement: Even with the quad pipes they're a bit too narrow. Broader finishers would sort that easily. Build quality on his 2019 17,000 miles car is exemplary. Fit and finish first rate. Its beautiful

      I bought one in May 23. I've been very lucky to own some of the Vantage rivals, however the Aston is by far and away the best of them IMO. Pete has covered all the tech bits in this vid, but what I can add is the way this car makes you feel. Every drive is an event, it puts a smile on my face, and on the face of countless bystanders as they see the car go by. If you haven't already bought one .... do it.

    After watching your previous videos on the new Vantage, I took a fair of time sitting in and looking round the one out the Aston stand at FoS. I was really impressed with the materials used and the attention to detail.
    You have to see one in the flesh to get round the looks of the front, which I like now. The back of it looks stunning. Well done Aston Martin.

    great well rounded review....because you don't have cars like this i think it helps....your you tube peers have this 'lets move onto the next thing'.... you don't and therefore provide a real insight for us all to jump in such cars....should be proud dude...your productions often have great value

  • @lowfinger
    @lowfinger Před 6 lety +2

    Absolute work of art, great video. The engine sound though, crackles, pops (and all manufacturers are becoming guilty of this) is just so contrived. It doesn't make those sounds because its tuned to the limit and a bit on edge, its because they programmed it to squirt extra fuel on purpose, just to make the sound, your opening clips is 100% demonstration of this. The Aston doesn't need this.

    I knew you wouldn`t be able to resist "manic mode" Ped!! The thing that impressed me about the car is it`s versatility, from comfortable cruiser to track animal. The noise is good, but for me it needs to be noisier, and I would definitely adapt those exhausts. Great review as usual, and look forward to your next supercar review

    @geofo60 Před 6 lety +2

    Love it from the rear haunches back but for me the front doesn’t have the visual impact I would expect from A/M & I agree with you regarding the exhaust tips. The rear panel cutouts are big enough to have filled with something better than a piece of round tubing. No other dislikes, interior looks great & the soundtrack from the engine is excellent.
    Great review Peter, miles of smiles. Can’t ask for more.

    Excellent video once again. Congratulations to AM, but would I buy one? Possibly not as I love my 911[991] Carrera 4 S. Very usable as a daily driver, does not attract too much attention, supremely comfortable as a long distance tourer, and the performance is there when you want it, and finally the PDK box is fantastic. May be not a fair match but I stay with Porsche.

A little cheaper than GoPro and you can can a wireless monitor/remote that makes framing shots easy. I also have a couple of GoPro Hero Sessions. The audio isn't great but they are brilliant for 2nd or 3rd angle and great for external car shots. Hope that helps 👍

    Great review Pete, I must say being an Aston fan I'm not keen on the new Vantage. I think a lot of the character has gone, I loved the old ECU, pushing it into the dash gave me goosebumps. The interior looks overly complicated and soulless and now having a German engine, Its lost its britishness. I prefer the Vanquish you test drove some time back. Im now in the market for a Rapide, which has more character.

Also as I said earlier, I didnt like the interior but I have to say it has grown on me. Everything is quite close, you don't need to reach for anything which was one of my main concerns. The engine is just amazing and sounds gorgeous!!! I think it is certainly better than an 911.

    What was noticeable about this video and what came through about you in the Aston, was the sound of the engine. That AMG engine.
    Even though the car is a stunner, is it better than a 911?
    I only live a few miles away from Aston's HQ in Gaydon, Warwickshire, but if I had the money to buy cars in this sort of calibre, my money would be heading towards Stuttgart.
    With regards to the Aston and that Mercedes Benz AMG engine. Why not go for the AMG GTS? It's a better build quality. Looks just as good (In my opinion!). Same sourced engine too!! And you'd save a heap load of money too.
    Great video though :-))

      Thanks for that ... I spent so much time watching CZcamss on the 2016 Jaguar -2 seater ( F-Type)?... When I finally had a chance to sit in it, I realized that it was a very tight fit for me. ... What a letdown ... Can the A.M.-Vantage eliminate that raspy marbles sound coming from the exhaust?

    The exhaust noise you love so much is exactly the feature I despise most. Those crackles sound like something is broken and rattling around inside. Ick!

    Nice review Pete as usual
    Whilst Aston’s are very beautiful, I think there’s far too much badge demanding the price - they’re always overpriced for the long term quality of product you’re paying for.
    It’ll be half price in 3 years time.
    On another note - I forgot to ask on the Goodwood video if you know if VW group boycotted the event for some reason.

    I agree about 'design language' - I recall how Bangle's designs at BMW divided opinion (challenging was being kind at the time) but such shifts in design have a way of sneaking up on you; first they are ridiculed. then they are scorned but eventually they are accepted as self-evident (everyone gets the design language...) "what do you mean? I always liked the way it looks" And I think the Vantage will be no different. Closing the gap to the 911 on the other hand - nah.

    • @stubones
      @stubones Před 6 lety +1

      Bangle's awkward designs will never be accepted as having been a good design language. They're still challenging.

    I like AM but this car's horizontal headlights are ugly (should be vertically like the DB11) and look like the Corvette C6 generation; and taillights are ugly like a Volvo.
