Hey MB can't wait to see how these do in a nice sealed box. If you could/want to I'd love to see your thoughts on the Image Dynamics ID8 d4 v.4, since I remember you saying the IDQ8 had good sound. I've had 4 of the ID8s in my single cab for over 4 years with .37cuft per sub net sealed, on 700ish watts overall. I think they could take a little more power and/or a little larger box, and also may play lower in that 4-door of yours. Best part is they were under $100 per sub, and supposedly made in the USA, not to mention I do think they sound pretty good as well, even if they aren't that loud. Keep up the good information, and building badass boxes!

Love ya home boy...but that surround is not linear..it's progressive..so the further it strokes the tighter the surround gets to help the spider last longer and keep control of the woofer .
If you were to build a enclosure for big bass using a skar zvx 8 d2 what would u build? (Goin in the trunk of a 4 door car) im using a fosgate prime 1200.1 to push it
You said that these are the subs that folks who have the Can-AMs, Slingshots should use..... I’d like to run a set of these in Harley bags... due to exposure, you mentioned other brands of subs that have the rubber cone and new motor. Can you let me know which brands to look up? I can only run 8’s due to type of bags. I have the JL audio 8.8 right now, but I have a 1200 w amp... I need a better sub that doesn’t have the extended surround.
Theres plenty of reasons why if you discharge then to fast to hard and too low like 11 volts they usually start to swell up and either smoke or blow tf up agm batteries dont because of the technology used to build them there is no liquid in them which means no swelling (usually) and you can mount them upside down or any angle for that matter you cant do that with a wet cell it'll leak acid and damage fabrics
Im pretty sure that new surround is unique to sundown They are using it on some of their newer designs. Supposed to be different technology from alpines
You like what you like. Hes reviewing all types of speakers and budgets of speakers... hes also using them in his vehicle. I value his opinion on the comp q L7... as buddy has more experience than me

I've always been mehh about sundown only because of there prices but I can say I just bought an 18" Custom tooled frame and wow it is a monster it is the heaviest beefiest frame I've ever held. I have zero worries bolting my custom 85+lb motor to it after checking it out. But even so I do still think there prices are to high but it's not just them there's a lot of so called "premium" brands that gouge consumers there may be quality's warranting higher prices but 300+ % more... nope! but hey that's just my opinion. I'll build my own subs and save the money....
Sundown has decent stuff, but a crap website with quite a bit of info not on it for alot of their products, more often than not, a person has to find the info on their authorized sellers websites.

What are your thoughts on this sub vs the L7Q class 8 for a full SQ setup in a down firing box.
Are you building a sealed or ported box? I know sealed is recommended. I have 2 sd4 10s and ive been curious how they would sound ported.

Question: for a sealed box .65 rather have Sundown SD-4 10" or Kicker Q L7 8" 700 watt RMS amp @4ohms

It isn’t. Slightly different shape but same concept that Alpine originated. And Alpine subs Type R and X sound phenomenal
