Great video, I am just awaiting delivery of this unit so I now have a good idea of how to configure it. Nice change to get someone showing a simple, yet detailed, review of this unit. I will watch again once my radio is delivered and fitted 😊👍
Thank you!! How is your new head unit???
Bro thank you so much for this. You saved me hours!!
That's awesome! You are very welcome!
Great walk-through. I feel like I could get going pretty quickly without feeling lost. I will say, though, that there are other launchers you can use, if you don't like the stock one that doesn't let you change your homescreen. Nova is best, but there are lots out there.
Thank you!! I started using Nova 7 about a month ago. I really like it.
Very nice install. Did you install the unit or did Car Toys? I'm asking because i don't know how and I'm hoping they will. I'm installing in a 2008 Audi A3
I fully installed it myself. there is full installation of this unit, and the newer version they came out with in a different video on my channel. Thanks!
Great video. I have the same unit but I couldn’t get both front and rear speakers to work at the same time. Right now I just have fronts working, if I switch the wires the rears work but then no fronts. Any ideas on this? My unit is from 2021, Same Tacoma year as yours.
Thank you!! The only thing I can think is maybe you got a faulty harness from joying. I would contact them and get a new one sent out. It sounds like those wires aren't getting power to them. That or maybe the part of the harness that clips into the back of the radio isn't seated properly or maybe there is debris in the harness at either end that isn't allowing those wires to get power. Let me know what you find! Thanks again!!
Nice work on the video. Does the unit automatically dim at night?
Yes, I have not had to adjust the brightness. thank you for the question and the kind words!!
Great video great presentation.
I’m not having any luck with the steering wheel controls. Everything is nulled out…I can’t do any adjustments. If you can reach out to me let me know what you did to un Null settings that would be a big help…
Thank you sir.
Hey bud I will try my best to help you out! Just to clarify, you are pressing and holding the steering wheel control, and while holding that control, you are pressing the corresponding button on the joying unit. Once you press the joying button, that control should receive a number. You will still have to be holding the control on the steering wheel. Then press the check mark and it should assign it.
If you are doing that and it is still not working, I would pull the unit back out and double-check that every plug is properly connected. I had some trouble with that the very first time I tried to run the unit. I thought the plugs were secured but they were not.
I hope this helps! Please come back and let us know so maybe it can help someone else later! Thanks!
@@theduvaldummies Ok I'll give it a go ASAP Thank you Sir...
@@bbalestierdid this work?
No Joying says there is no option to adjust on 2013 Honda Civic Navi 😩@@msmonee91
The problem i am having is that my wifi is connected but Google won't connect to the device. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated
i want to change my headunit, i was looking into joying but I was wondering if it will use my factory camera with the birds eye view
Send Joying an email, I have recently been told they are coming out with connectors that will allow you to plug directly into your factory backup cam. I'm not sure if that configuration I did to get the backup cam to work with the Joying would be the same wiring with a birds eye cam. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
Do you have a side profile view of the unit in the truck? Does the unit dim completely dark with the factory dimmer?
It sticks out about an inch. After a few days you wont even notice it. If you send a DM on our instagram I would be more than happy to send you any pics you would like.
Did all of your steering wheel buttons map out? A few more mine L & R arrow on the LHS of the steering wheel and the "OK" center button don't work, Up and Down work though
Hey sorry for the delayed response. I could have mapped them all out, but most the the commands were useless to me. On the left I have my volumes programed, the up and down arrows to skip or go back in music players or pandora, and that bigger mode button is my pause/play button. On the right I think i have them all mapped for the phone functions. Hope this helps! Thanks!
i was just fooling around with mine, just installed it.
HOW do you use GPS antenna to navigate "maps"?? my maps only works via android auto, but i am sure there's a way to connect to available satellites, otherwise it wouldnt have a gps antenna!
i'll prolly figure it out but it's time for bed
*maybe of importance, my old JBL unit i pulled out of the Taco had a slot for a micro SD card.. that was required for off-line maps to work, but i cant find where that card would go on the Joying, unless it's behind the detachable screen?
Unfortunately you have to either get the Sim Card for it or run your phone on hotspot to use the maps by themselves. I always use android auto so its not an issue for me.
That sim card goes into a card holder on the back of the brain of the head unit.
I seen you put it in reverse and screen changed to backup camara but if you listening to music and go in reverse does the music stop?
the music will continue to play as long as the Settings are correct. it comes from the factory with the music either off during reversing or it goes down to like level 2 or 3.
Thanks!
Have you had any issues with heat of the unit. Some people complain of the high temp
I have never had any issues with heat.
Hi thanks for the video, I'm wondering if the unit has an automatic switch between light and dark mode. And wether the radio and telephone app have those themes
Let me get home this afternoon and look at it to see if I can answer that correctly. Off the top of my head, anything associated with Google and android can go into dark mode. Avenza does not have dark mode (which sucks). The screen will auto brighten and dim in conjunction with whether your head lights or running lights are on. Thanks!!
That was my thoughts too since android 10 i guess but there are lots of head unit with latest android version but skimmed from these features. To me this is important nights to switch systemwide to dark mode. It would be much comfortable for the eyes and reduce the eye strain. The can bus can get head light information but if the unit supports dark mode to turn on automatically according head lights or sun set that would be interesting.
Hey I just filmed a small night time test, I will edit it and post it as a short tomorrow. Spoiler alert, your gonna like what you see. Thanks again! I will also pin a link to the comment section on the video.
I can't wait to see. Thanks bro.
Video pinned!
Looking forward to a torture test on this. Since you are South, unfortunately I won't get a full representation of it. We get it REAL cold up here.
Also- subbed my dude.
Yeah down here best we got was 2 nights in the low 20s over Christmas weekend. But so far it's working great.
@@theduvaldummies thats good to hear. wonder how the security is on it since it's from overseas. there has to be a vulnerability somewhere.
@@topgunne12 I mean its running android not a Chinese software. unless android has a vulnerability you should be fine.
@@joshuamorgado8209 yes - kinda work in that field. Since it's a proprietary OS, we are looking at vulns every day. Just haven't had the time or any reports yet to compare. If/When I purchase I will play around!
You should do like a 6 month review. Not many long term reviews out there
Be looking for it in June! I'm adding it to my videos to make list. Thanks!!
So I’m just wondering. If I buy this $450 unit from joying, I comes with everything you need (plug and play)?
If they have your vehicle on their site it should be plug and play, although I’m having a lot of issues right now on a 2013 Honda Civic previously with navigation and unit, Joying will reach out to you, but it take some time from China…
There is a little bit of a language barrier with communication …
@@bbalestier Hey thanks for your reply. I found very identical ones on eBay for a fraction of the price. But I guess with anything Chinese it’s a hit or miss.
@GetDuked those are "non-branded" units. They are essentially the same thing. You will probably have trouble with using your stick steering wheel controls. They probably off a stand alone steering wheel controller.
@@bbalestier I plugged and played but the factory review camera was not working, Joying support is very responsive but not much help. A car toys shop installer fixed it ($180)
Sound quality?
Sound quality is the same as the stock unit. I do wish I had the JBL upgraded package from Toyota, my truck is very loud. Cruising around by the house, going to the store or whatever, it sounds like the factory unit.
