Hi Gino, I watched a video you did when you were living in the condo on the esplanade and it sparked my interest so I finally made it to Iloílo City a couple of weeks ago. You are absolutely right about Iloilo City. It exceeded my expectations and so I’m planning on moving there fairly soon from Cebu City with a lot of excitement about getting a bike and riding the esplanade and other parts of the city. Happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in Iloilo City. The esplanade helped me a lot during my treatments. Having the view from our balcony was a blessing; many days I couldn’t do anything but sit there. My morning walks at the esplanade gave me hope that things would get better. Take care my friend.
I would recommend that someone create a mayor's conference in Iloilo where mayors from different cities can converge and plan how to clean up and improve their own municipalities. This place really is an example to be looked up to.
Other cities in the Philippines can learn so much from Iloilo City.

better and an upscale one.

Thank you my friend. I make sure I exercise each day; but also rest. My best friend in Hawaii already warned me about the VA. He has a C&P result pending over a year now. I am patient and I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m just so grateful that I don’t have any more treatments. 😃

Hey brother hope your c and p goes well. I have another one soon myself but i dont think mine is going to go well. I hope you are trying to service connect your cancer. As a USAF vet myself, im sorry to say, but USAF vets do seem to have a significantly higher rate of cancer than the general population. Not sure why it could be the bases or chemicals we are exposed to, or the unique type of stress. I feel very confident your c and p will go very well, because the air force knows this. Hope to see you soon when my and my gf visit your city. Take care brother.

Not as many as you would think. You would think there would be more foreigners in Iloilo City. Even when we lived in Iloilo City for 4 months; we sporadically ran into foreigners.
You're energy level probably isn't real good. But the walking is good for you. Keep up the good work.
Yes; I get tired easily now. I rest for most of my day. But, always make sure I get my morning walk. I used to be an avid runner; so hoping I can get back to running again someday. From all that I read about chemo/radiation recovery; exercise is good.

Hi guys, SOLD! We've heard only good things about Iloilo City, a retiree's dream and hopefully one day you will show us around. Sorry to hear about the side effects of the radiation treatment but maybe it is only a temporary condition. Take care my brother and we love you all.

ILoILo is a great city for sure...I haven't been there yet, but it reminds me of Cebu 20 years ago, where I have spent some time...
It definitely would be a place I'd consider to settle if that wasn't already settled haha...
We've got land already near Dagupan and are looking for more, so I'm definitely committed already there...
But, like you I can visit from time to time and while there will catch up with some of the expats in the area...
Hoping that the VA evaluation goes well and in your favor as an outcome...
I could have done the same 25 years ago as I retired, but I've never pursued it...
The injuries are still there, I just couldn't deal with the hassle back then...

Dazel and I enjoy our trips to Iloilo City; we get to experience city life. But, do prefer our province life better. I retired from the U.S. military 20 years ago. When I retired I was fit and healthy. No injuries, surgeries, never got admitted to the hospital for anything. Same ever since I retired here in the Philippines 12 years ago; never got sick till I got my diagnosis of head and neck cancer. I’m just hoping to get my health back; recover from the effects of chemo/radiation. So thankful I’m done with the treatments. Take care our friend.

wala yan ang Bacolod lugar nang mga negro na mga mabaho at itim! damo NPA kc wslang trabaho jan kundi mag tabas dang tubo! marami squaters! maraming garbages at laktaw laktaw anh mga buildings!

Question for you, should you choose to entertain it: For your C&P exam. Did you make a special note in your claim to have an appointment as close to you as possible? Or did you just go with the flow & accept whatever location was given? Kalibo to Iloilo was close but far in a way. Definitely closer than Manila

I live in Surigao City in Mindanao & hope I get a close appointment location. Airplane tickets can be pricey if not purchased months in advance

I understand my friend. We always have to fly to Manila or Cebu from Kalibo to get to other places in the Philippines. Gets expensive when you have to make connections from Manila or Cebu.
I am ready to explore my next potential mew place. I am tired of dirty Cebu. Iloilo is really intriguing.

Reason I ask is you look Filipino without the accent. I was in AF basic training with a gentleman who had joined from the Philippines.

Honestly Chief, I would like a city like this but I’m worried about the medical care and direct billing from Medical City Clark.
I got my chemo treatments at Medical City Iloilo; and they direct billed Tricare.

Iloilo looks laid back compared to Cebu city or Manila.
There are more people and traffic in Manila and Cebu City. I used to be an avid bicycle rider. You can easily ride a bicycle around Iloilo City; very bicycle friendly. It would be difficult to ride a bicycle in Manila or Cebu City because of the traffic.
Visit cebu ginno its more ahead and well developed
Yeahh Cebu and Bacolod more developed than Iloipot
Atleast Iloilo is more clean and safe and iloilo is highly urbanized city and have the longest esplanade

Dazel and I have visited Cebu City and enjoyed our time there. We liked everything about it except for the traffic. We were just not used to that amount of traffic coming from Aklan province.

Land of brown outs and questionable cell signals. Nice city but has a lot of limits. I dare you to find good sushi. By the way, Richmonde hotel is much better.
Most of us that retire in the Philippines learn to adapt to power outages. Cell signals not that important for most retirees; actually a blessing sometimes because you learn to not rely on a cell phone. I only use my cellphone for my online banking OTP text from my bank. I don’t carry it around with me. Sushi; you are correct Sir, I have not found a good sushi restaurant in Iloilo City. Richmonde Hotel is better because it cost more than twice as much as Injap Hotel.

IMO the real beauty of the Philippines is the country not their cities! The cities will fall when the world economy collapses, and it most certainly will. The country where farmers till the soil and produce food is where the future will be because they will be the most important thing as they will feed the masses when food no-longer is shipped in.
I prefer living in the province; but do enjoy visiting the city once in awhile.
