And what's *really* scary is that he would've succeeded if Vasquez had his way. Dib was originally supposed to die for real in that episode but Nick forced Vasquez to change it.
Zim himself didn’t time travel because uncomplicated non living things are the only things that can cross the time stream. He threw rubber pigs back in time and replaced certain objects in Dibs life that resulted in violent near death experiences and at one point made Dib fall from such a huge height Emergency Ambulances had to try and just start his heart, at which point he replaced the machine with a rubber pig. The only reason Dib didn’t die was because Professor Membrane turned him into a powerful cyborg to save him and then with each new pig Zim used to try and kill him only made him stronger.
Strangely enough this version does exist. If I recall one of the alternate reality that Dib experienced while in the florpus had this anime style and since the florpus is supposedly different versions of reality colliding then maybe there is an anime Zim and dib that aren't fantasies or perspectives

I love how Dib believes in Zim's backstory. He truly believes he was sent by the Tallest, when he's just an annoyance to them and they wanted to get rid of him by sending him to a forgotten rim of the universe. I don't remember the exact words but Jhonen did said that Zim had the abilities to conquer and destroy earth, he's just too stupid to suceded in doing it. The only thing that gets between Zim and his mission is his own idiocy, not Dib.

😵 well, it is an anime, but like part of the title says, it is bizarre. Some characters are hunk guys, the storylines are a mix of absurd things but at the same time they work and become memorable and great, like with Invader Zim.
