- Steam locomotives are a rare sight in the 21st Century, but it is even more unusual to see two of them running together! In this video, we will see several different trains being pulled by two steam locomotives. We will visit several different railroads to see locomotives big and small as they work together to pull trains down the line. All aboard!
I can watch steam locomotives all day. They're so beautiful.
I agree
Yes they are!
I’ve adored steam trains since I was little. In fact I got a new train set every Xmas because the previous year’s was worn out from the amount of fun I’d had with it. I’m female by the way. A few years back I was the proud owner of 120 acres in country Australia. It was very frustrating that I couldn’t afford to put a train track around it, plus the cost of the train itself. I had to make do with the roos & the wild deer as entertainment instead. Sometimes when I’m reminiscing I realise what a great life I’ve lived. & watching these marvellous videos makes me happy. Very happy.

you can always buy a mamod steam locomotive for about 600$ now you can’t ride on it but it is a working steam loco

Modern trains are press a button and the engine is ignited, never knew LOCOMOTIVE TRAINS were that much of steam carriers, plus you have to fill the water chamber fully, or create a fire in one of the furnaces. Just the locomotive horn sound really shows how people in the older centuries were geniuses to build these steam machines. Liked your video, amazing
Imagine 2 big boy 4014s
Showed this to my 2-year-old nephew and it was an instant hit. Lil' guy loves his trains and cars.

The beauty of pure mechanical energy no combustion engine could even compare to such beauty
That's why I love reading old interviews with steam engineers. ALL of them made the same metaphor: a steam engine is like a living, breathing entity. Not a mere machine, but an ANIMAL, and one that they had to learn to tame. ❤
I don’t think you understand how steam engines work, there is definitely combustion.
@@TheCuratorIsHere OP is just differentiating steam engines from internal combustion engines. Of course both involve combustion.. simple matter of nomenclature. (Also you know what else they have? Brakes. Which you might want to pump on your ACKCHYUALLY.)
A steam engine is still a combustion engine. Only that it is an external combustion engine, and the combustion happens outside of the cylinder. They still have burning coal, wood, and other combustibles.
TRAIN GO TO THE SISTER OF 9PM
Electric trains might be faster, but steam trains are the best!
You are right
Pan
In which sense? They are better in generation of pollution and noise. They're not very good in steep railroad, because the water flow within the boiler pipes might have an uneven flow. And without considering the shay locomotive, the direct coupling of the piston to the wheels gave them a very narrow range of operations. But Choo Choo right?
yeah because you like air pollution
@@brandonbeamer3566 no because they’re more original, characteristic and beautiful!
Man, old trains are so cool. This reminds me of when i was obsessed as a kid. Loved thomas the tank engine and fancy model sets. Its just so cool to marvel at.
This is absolutely beautifully composed. Had my 14 month old grandson (great grandson of train buff and writer Edgar Mead) mesmerized. It's so well done. Thank you for sharing!
😊
Mike thanks for your videos. My grandson and I love to watch them.

3:18, 630: Listen to my glorious whistle!!!
That’s the good old Crosby 3 chime! Personally, I think it suits 630 more than TVRM 610 mainly because the Crosby was used by the Southern Railway on one of their steamers. It sounds very melodic.

When I took my son on a steam train when he was one year old he was obsessed with how the wheels ran on the tracks. I knew that he had "clicked" and was a train fan. He's seven now and is completley in love with steam trains and watches as many of your videos as he can. Thanks so much Mike ❤️

Just a casual watch with ur son that’s gonna be me on day
Me and my grandson play train videos when we play with our old lionel train set. We get real sounds, and the phone sits as a bill board in our little town.
I'm glad I found this, I have some train rides I need to take.
15:08 Gorgeous whistle!
I’d love to go on a train in period costume attire and imagine what it was like to be a train passenger, nearly 200 years ago! What a time travelling experience that would be!

Not if you’re black lmao

Steam locomotives are beautiful, living creatures. You can't convince me otherwise.
Sure diesels look great with double headers
But steam locomotives are a BIG difference.

I really want to re-live those steam beast times and see one by myself
Awesome shots! I love the chugga chugga of steam trains. And thre's something about their look that just captivates me. The sunset shot at the end is pure gold!
The smoke pouring out of the stack just beautiful

Great clip of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (OCSR)!
A double header is two steam trains together like two locomotives .

Thank you so much. Mike. I'm 81 and grew up with trains going beside my grandparents as rents farm. The wooden suto bridge was beside their driveway. I wouldvrun m out v when I heard the train chugging up the Streep hill.the bridge seemed 100 ft high and conductors would wave and blow the steam whistle for me. Thank you so much. Something fascinating about steam engine watching from Jamaica 🇯🇲
In the region of California where I live, there is a small town known as Coalinga which is said (perhaps apocryphally) to be derivedd from "coaling station A", along a former rail line. A consist of two steam locomotives would be distinctly unusual in North America today: for starters there isn't the coaling and watering infrastructure.
We use this clip to occupy our 1.5Yo son while changing dipers ❤thanks
Thats really Glad to know!!
..and I'm pretty sure that he was the driver in one of these steam locomotives in his previous birth, and hence he is attracted & hooked-up watching these steam locomotives, without loosing his interest.
May God bless him!!
The first train is my grandpa's, it is at the Oregon scenic railroad museum.

I dont understand any of these 3 previous replies. Anyhow, he owns a train? I dont understand. He bought it? How can one afford that? Does he also need to rent the tracks?
That's awesome!
Thanks for posting Mike. Your train videos have helped my son and I get through a long lock down. One day we'll come and ride one of these in the USA.
Great video Mike , thanks, i like steam locomotives. Many years ago i had the oportunity to ride some of them in France and it was unforgettable.

I've always loved steam engines!!
Mixing the steam vents with the coal vents would greatly reduce the coal impact on the air quality. Just saying. It would clean the air so to speak.

Hello Mike, I am a person living in Korea.
Regarding the work that a Korean high school student won the gold prize in the cartoon competition, the government suggested suspicion of plagiarism for the work with the motto of Thomas Train. So we decided to parody this student's work and filmed a video, but ran into a problem. It was hard to find a very good train sound effect but we managed to find a good video of Mr. Mike and we leave the question as to whether it is okay to use the sound
This reminds me of the good ol days 😢
