Wow, great information! I just ordered an Ownboard ZEUS assuming the ESC was customizable 🤦‍♂️Oh well, still looks like a great board but I'll definitely be upgrading the ESC in the near future once I receive it, thank you 🤙

So if anyone is wondering, you wanna upgrade your esc before anything else, if you want to actually unlock your upgraded components

The new hobbywing has a mode you click the power button on board 5 times and it runs a test for the motors where you can install any motors you want and once you run the test, the ESC recognizes the new motors and sets the board to work with them ...I put a new hobby wing ESC iny miles phantom and it didn't work the motors right...then I ran the 5 presses of the power button test on the board ..it runs the motors for about 60 seconds then you turn off the board ...turn it back on and now my miles phantom runs better then ever, faster, more powerful brakes with the new ESC hobbywing...i had to cut off 1 wire as the motors have 1 extra wire then the ESC has ..not sure what,that,1,wire does but the board works better then ever now ..lot more torque

Is this for the 9028? If I buy a hobbywing esc that is designed OEM for another board, if I do this 5 press trick, do you think it will configure to my motors?

What is weird is that Hobbywing have come a pretty long way into RC car/boats Esc programming. First with the 2 button program box, them the bigger one for 1/8 cars that had a lot of thing to be tuned and now all can be done remotely. Not sure why they do not allow the same level of tuning for EV, may be because market is young and they focus on OEM for the moment or may be also because you flip the wrong switch or setting and one can fry the ESC very quickly.
BTW ever tried the maker-X stuff (DV4, DV6)? they seem on flipsky pricing range but a bit more refined.

@@dr.eskateboard3381 also they seem pretty active and responsive on the esk8.news forum (forum.esk8.news/t/makerx-go-foc-dv6-based-on-vesc6/39175/116). I'm probably going this way instead of flipsky for my vesc 6

Not a speed demon and I don't weight much and not hilly area so there's no need for VESC. And I want to keep the cost down since you would need other things like switch and separate remote. But I eventually want to upgrade to a VESC to change the speed on mode 1 to 15 mph from 11.

Hobbywing is coming out with a programmable esc but nothing like the vesc, it’s a good start for beginners

Basically hobby wing is apple and vesc is android. Gotcha

Fuck yes. Im building my own. 6374's focbox or this spintend (sp?) I picked up. I too am disgruntled with the hype parts market. Ive bought shit i can't use. And made bad design decisions. But I'm getting there. I fix kids walmart level egocarts. Upgrade that shit. Yes there is a market. Hopin you are as real as you say. Be different. Any way
