What was your favorite part of this episode of Doomsday Preppers?
My favorite part of this video? That I can click "Next" and not watch this insanity.
Nothing all self centered!
The bit where it kept repeating itself
*_''Fast fast fast fast fast, go go go go go''_*

Not making fun of prepping, as it is smart to be into preparedness. But step 1: start losing weight and become physically healthy.
@Tuberculosis Dan I disagree. Fat is stored energy and in a SHTF scenario you won't have access to food. And you will lose weight fast. I lost two stone in five weeks just from walking when Covid started as I was bored sitting around.
@@stephenmurray2851 some of these people can’t even run away from a kid on a tricycle, imagine getting flanked by a bunch of folks who are just slightly athletic

@Tuberculosis Dan yeah, that's why I think The lady who loves to cook isn't really a prepper, she's a hoarder with hobbies. Which is fine, it's just sad to know that someday all that food is just going to waste, or someone else will take it from them.
Lol also keeping eggs for 9 to 12 months? She better do her research again, maybe 8 months at the max. I hope people didn't get sick at her community dinner :/ she's WAY too focused on making yummy food. She should just open a restaurant.

@@richardstuivenberg4618 exactly. That's why I believe, also, almost all "preppers", Even if they have lots of preps including firearms, will still get taken out, because honestly it won't take much for someone to sneak up behind you while you're focused on someone in front. Sad, but that's a fact of life.
@Jaques Studly Only the ones who live far apart from others, and stay very hidden will do alright. The worse conditions get, the more we will see roving bands checking out all the back roads, dirt roads, any structure, etc. Anyone trying to make a stand in some kind of armored castle is asking for it. Maybe they can hold out for a while, but not for long, in my opinion.
I hope he gets his health back in shape as much as he can, he seems like a genuine well-intentioned guy.
He's definitely one of the least offensive doomsday preppers I've seen. He's still a goofball like the rest, but he's focused on genuinely practical matters, he doesn't have delusional paranoia, and he's planning how he'd contribute to a post-doomsday society. So many of these other guys are just fantasizing about how they could become a hermit and shoot a bunch of people if only society would collapse already.

I haven't yet watched the whole thing but I like the first guy - "I hope I am crazy" - he recognises he may just be nuts / paranoid / simply wrong, yet prepares just in case. Kind of like having a first aid kit but hoping you never need to use it for anything serious.
Failure to prepare is preparing to fail. Also it's betters to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
i think preppers shouldn't be made fun of, like they currently are. i think more people should be encouraged and even rewarded for prepping. when disasters strike, having lots of people in every community who are ready for it will mean the country will fair much better as a whole, with each community being able to help itself on a basic level, until more help can be summoned.
During the shutdown many preppers did not need to go out to super markets and compete for things.

Well, it showed a couple of things.
A) there doesn't even have to be a shortage, panic buyers will create it for you with the slightest bump in the road (shocked me how fast that went)
B) I learned not to wait with buying TP till the last roll.
C) With the threat of running out of TP my kids finally learned to use the paper they need instead of triple that amount. That was a solid win.
And where did you actually see that happen, in person? Supermarkets in my area were actually less frequented than usual, and nothing was out of stock, except maybe the cheapest brand of pasta, for like 2 weeks.
But that's what makes America great

I find it fascinating, how people are more concerned about an unknown and indirect threat, than the ones they are currently facing. The first guy would likely die from a heart attack, over a solar flare. I know that's sounds mean, but it's true. He's putting all of his time and energy into preparing for an event that he cannot predict nor stop, over something he can predict and prevent. But I guess that's why National Geographic makes shows like this, because they can predict people will watch it because of how unpredictable these scenarios are.

To be fair, he is trying to prevent his weight problem from causing something like that. To the point he’s even getting surgery, which you have a pretty decent chance at dying from so he’s taking that issue on just as serious. And while some of these are a bit far stretched it’s not unrealistic. Each of these apocalyptic scenarios on their own does not have a very strong likelihood of happening, but if you add every last one of these chaotic theories, the chances for at least one of them happening is not too unlikely to happen, and while they’re preparing for something specific, what they’re preparing can come in handy in most other apocalyptic scenario too. Like if the first guy finds himself in the second stories scenario, his plans are still gonna help him.

Imagine spending your entire life preparing for a disaster, but you die from a different one you weren't prepared for.
I’m sure most of these people are prepared for several things but NG probably tells them to pick one ridiculous thing to be more entertaining, that’s just reality TV though.
It's sad to say, but most of these families wouldn't stand a chance. It's one thing to be capable of hoarding supplies, but it's an entirely different thing to keep them. A group of overweight adults barely capable of walking (and who have no tactical training) would not be able to defend themselves against a group of people who are trained to inflict violence and take their stuff.
Apart from hardening your location with a large group of people and defenses, the best thing you could do is to avoid making yourself into a target to begin with by not making your location and supplies known. They're doing the exact opposite of that by taking part in a television show that is broadcast around the world.

Best prepper move ever - Building a strong community, working together.
It doesn't matter how much time you spend at a gun range or how much food you got stocked. A well coordinated offensive against your house, and you will lose.

So many doomsday preppers imagine that they'll live in a bunker forever. Even half of this comment section is "yOu hAvE tO kEeP uR pReP sEcReT!". lol. Doomsday prepping is already a bit paranoid but this idea that communities will cease to exist and we're all just going to become mole people is a whole 'nother level of kookiness.
And where do you think that "well coordinated offensive" will come from? People are no more prepared for that than prepping in the first place. Building a community of like minded people is expensive, difficult, and highly risky. No guarantee any will remain like-minded. Worry about rebuilding after things settle down.

@Tuberculosis Dan hahaha indeed the BMI is a huge problem . I'm not an expert in EMP of course but batteries that aren't on a circuit can't be fried ?
Every call of duty player knows this
@Tuberculosis Dan it would take an extreme level EMP and being directly at the source to damage simple AGM or flooded cell batteries by causing them to self short and internally discharge from massive static build up. That realistically won't happen unless you're right at the source of detonation.
What an EMP does destroy is the fine electronics, the capacitors, microcontrollers, and other higher level circuitry. basic circuits like simple electric motors, incandescent lightbulbs, simple switch systems like a car's starter motor and fuel pump, those will largely be unaffected.
Most(probably 90% or more) of the damage is going to be caused by the EM pulse being soaked into the power lines and causing a massive power surge and other funky issues to anything plugged into the grid.

@@loturzelrestaurant the world not gonna end any time soon. scammers been banking on gullibles well before the 80s. p*sses me off regarding this horsechit is groceries on amazon are often expired or mouldy from buying damaged overstock and preppers dont care its all good. everyone else has to pay for their stupidity.

There was parts of the US that had massive storms where people were with out power and heating for a few weeks.
I know people that told me there was 20 foot snow drifts in places and if you did not have flower you were not having bread or no generator you had no electricity.
Love your content. Also love how you do it together. Any ideas for building a prepping or community group
As much as I giggled at most of what David said. Except the part about most products having being transported- that is true
I have a feeling the timing of this video is no coincidence

Start watching prepper channels here on youtube. You will learn more from them than you will from this shows reruns.
Just go visit old Friends and family or go on a trip you'll see lol
Uhuh, why's that?
Agreed!
The first guy is my favorite 🤩 he’s hilarious and adorable 🥰
looking at what happens in Ukraine these days, those people don't look so crazy
I think the largest point that is often ignored is that prepping is fun, and a healthy and productive hobby
Yeah, that's the impression I got from them all - that they actually enjoy the prepper lifestyle!
These people should collaborate with the extreme couponers
Alot of preppers ARE couponers
already done, cheap prepping ! HOOOAH
🌞
I hate couponers, they make my shift 10 times harder than what it already is
Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
You know, not all preppers are crazy people... or folks that will live through Armageddon but die a month later from diabetes...
If David gonna survive that EMP he’s gonna need to lose weight, making him more fit for potential combat, looting, maintaining the farm, etc.
all that fat is pretty good tho, he
is body can use that fat and convert it into energy.
@@poikoi1530 he won't be able to use the energy tho lol I'm surprised he can even use the bathroom
80-90% chance he's diabetic. Good luck when the insulin goes bad.
@@poikoi1530 no it can't he's going to die when he struggles to get food and probably needs insulin and good look running from zombies or looters

Am I crazy for wanting to prep for a reorganization of society? Like setting up an actual community to help each other?
I want to prep for the zombie apocalypse
That's what we need
Is an actual community working together

I LOVE THIS WHOLE VIDEO. THANK YOU 4 SHARING
the last group is the most prepared and all-rounded. good leadership, cuz he's sensible and has good intentions, thats why people stay and followed him.
"most economists do not believe the US is currently at risk" wow. So much for the smart guys.
Is it at risk?
I personally believe that they know. However, it suits their interests to keep people ignorant and uninformed. They profit off of our ignorance.
@@superloop330 Yes. I think also my thought was looking at the past--the great depression, what is to say that wont happen again.
This episode is like 10 years old. I remember watching this when I was like 12
@Tennessee country boy Is it collapsing now?
Since I had to leave my apartment three times already this year because someone in another apartment started a fire, I actually have a rucksack with water, food, money, clothes, and power banks ready at all time.
hello our lord and savior Jim Pickens
@Jacob yes, but 220 for rent and near university is too good since I’m a student
I only started watching this series today, and of the four episodes I've seen, the first guy comes across as the most well-intentioned and least uh... On the edge. But the couple who stockpile food instead of weapons for the earthquake seem to be the most sensible.
Never crazy to be prepared.
It's one kind of hobby and it brings family members together, what's so bad?
Coleen is preparing a meal for all of those people with her preserved food. But she is cooking it on an electric stove. She needs to become proficient in cooking over open flame. There is a difference.
As a chef I noticed that immediately lol. I had that same realization between my first and 2nd kitchen I worked in
Right unless your going to have a huge fire and tons of time nobody is making 7 different dishes
If she has other forms of energy to power her electric appliances, then it's okay for her to use an electric stove. It's expensive but if she can afford it there's solar panels, wind turbines and manually powered generators.
There are also solar powered cookers too that use the heat from the sun to cook food. Also on those days when there isn't any sun, they can use barbecue pits, grills and such.
I love how you get to choose what you prepare for. What if you get it wrong?
Respect to all these people
No one will fall for your charm they will flat out take everything you have

The strong do eat - the weak are meat. 🤣
NatGeo, I demand an update on these people at the conclusion of the pandemic. I want to know how they did, if their plans worked, if they ate all their food, etc. Make it happen.
I was thinking the same thing. Especially the episode of the people who were preparing for a pandemic
How many of them are anti-maskers? ☺️

David is Mr. Burns, "Release the hounds" 🤣🤣
The body fat is probably their biggest enemy versus what they are preparing for.
I was going to comment this. Your body and health should be your first prep.
No doubt señor
Maybe it's actually there greatest assets, they could live for months on body fat alone...
@@xmrpaintx1 Some people say the reverse, if your too fat, your body needs more energy, you'll get hungry more and consume food more.
@@Kopie0830 possible, and I could see people working harder than normal in a survival situation... So maybe the fatties would go first, even though it seems counter intuitive

I thought this episode would make these people seem like jokes, but I enjoy that it gives thema chance to say theire thoughts and techniches
At the end of each case, National Geographic gives you the idea that you don't really need to do this when in actuality being prepared should be normal.
Because they don't want you self sufficient
Sad that this seems geared to make folks who prep look silly. And while these segments were recorded some time ago, the date that this vid is posted shows that many of these folks concerns are actually legit. "most ecomomists do not believe the US is currently at risk"...and here we are with large portions of our economy shut down, unemployment off the charts due to the pandemic, and the likelihood of a great depression that makes the last one look like childsplay, looming. Yeah, make them look like crack pots but who had toilet paper when everyone else was scrambling?
I did! And I bet you did too.
You could tell by the first twenty seconds that this was the point of this video.
And now the capitol has been stormed lol
Everything's fine :)
I don't think they look silly, pretty normal people, the prepper couple dinner reminds me my 2020 xmas with my family
God bless you I pray that you get your health back
I love the guy preparing for the EMP with an EOtec electronic sight😂
Ah yes, the best way to keep intruders from stealing your food is to tell the entire world exactly how much food you have and where you keep it😂
Yeah they're not really preppers, they just have hobbies and like to collect stuff and cook.
Agree this is just a hobby
Well, maybe I should correct myself, I mean in a sense they are preppers for any low-level kind of emergency, but of course in worst case, no lol. But to be honest, most of us aren't.
Years ago i would of called you guys crazy. Now with everything going on in the world like it is. Im starting to think these people may not be crazy just smarter then most people. They may
