  • After perusing the online stores for the SNKL23. I was entralled by this little beauty, which is basically the SNKL23, but it's alter ego. I'm suprised it's not praised as much as it's brother on CZcams. So here's my part.

    I have the SNKl21 gold dial version of this watch. I love it. I also wear it on the factory bracelet. Mine too came with the jingly jangle. Quick tip - the jangly noise comes mainly from the hollow end links. Remove them, lay them top side up and lightly tap them downward with a nylon jeweler's hammer. You can also flip them top side down and tap down the little bottom bracket arms. You can also just bend them down by hand but I find the hammer works more precisely. Now, this will make replacing them on the watch case a little pushy. You will have to push the end links into place on the watch, rather than just putting them in place, but pressure created by the slightly bent down end links being force-held into place by the spring bars will drastically reduce the rattle. This works with a lot of hollow end links that rattle. Especially Seiko dive watches with hollow end links. Just lay them top-side up and give 'em a little hammering.
    Hope this helps.
    Nice video.

    I really love this Seiko 5 - I love most Seiko 5s but this one in particular. You're right about resizing the bracelet though; I can do it but I've got to the point now where I just take the bracelet off altogether and use something different. They look particularly good on perlon straps. Great for the summer!

    If your bracelet is squeaky wash it with soap and warm water a few times and be sure to move all the links around as you do so, then rinse thoroughly. My citizen nighthawk was very squeaky out of the box and worked a charm for me 👍

    • @johnwang9914
      @johnwang9914 Před rokem

      @@crBudgetWatches Problem is finding a 31 mm diameter, 1.7 mm thick with a chamfer (bezel cut) sapphire crystal. It's the chamfer cut that is hard to find unless you go to thicker crystals and the closest thickness I've found is 1.8 mm without the chamfer. I think some people say they've been able to force fit the 31 mm diameter 1.8 mm thick straight cut sapphire crystal but I haven't been able to verify which calibre and case number those claims were with. I suppose I could try to make a jig to grind out the chamfer as even the slightly thicker crystal shouldn't matter if the chamfer is sufficient, but I haven't been able to find details of the angle and how deep the chamfer cut is so I would likely first have to buy a Seiko Hardlex crystal just to measure it (I have worked out the Seiko part number for my calibre and case numbers) or first remove the existing crystal to measure the chamfer which means storing the opened watch while fabricating the crystal. That means, it would be trial and error, purchasing a sapphire crystal, a watch case press and enough tools and materials to build a jig to hold a Dremel at a given angle with respect to the crystal (basically a square wood frame with a clamp). I'd like to find someone who has done the mod on my calibre and case numbers before and preferably a watchmaker with the equipment and workspace needed as I have neither (so far I've been unsatisfied with the watchmaker that I found to clean and oil one of my watches, I could keep taking it back to him to work out all the problems but I've already done so twice as he failed to attach the second hand properly and for some reason he returned the watch with a Spanish day of the week disc instead of the original French disc and I had to source another French disc myself for him to correct that problem, the watch has also behaved weirdly overnight about once every one to two weeks after the so called cleaning and oil service which completely changed the secondary language).
