Good Morning Mary Jane - I moved into my own apartment at 18. My father paid me a small stipend weeekly but I worked 20-25 a week to pay rent & utilities & attended university full time. I learned fiscal responsibility & had relative independence at a young age & it was priceless. Always enjoy your perspectives. Thank You 😊

Another very interesting set of topics discussed at this event. The problems for young people of today as you discussed them in Italy are very similar to the concerns in the US. (And come on Maria, you are not "young" in quotation marks, you're young!)
I also found a Kurdish person's perspective very interesting to listen to. When you mentioned that the movement of liberation from the 'Sumerians,' does that mean Iraq? Because the Sumerians as such don't exist anymore, unless she was talking about ancient history. I also wonder if the issues she was speaking to regarding the state and capitalism was in the context of creating a Kurdish state or working for more autonomy within already existing states. Anyway, very thought provoking. If I was in your position, I would be agonizing over all the events I had to miss during this festival.

Yes, I am believing in ‘monotheistic trouble’ from the past too. It’s about right and wrong, black and white, god and evil… the missing colors in between.

I interpreted it as if she was talking about history, the history from start of civilization.
I'm pretty sure she meant more autonomy within the already existing states, I remember that she clearly stated towards the end that they would not want to create a new Kurdish state.

Grazie Mary Jane Friulana.

Honestly you should look into the factors actually involved in making things the way they are not breaking them down. Do you understand why the US became such a juggernaut in global trade or why we are the absolute best at trade. Ask yourself this how did the US get to the position it’s in. By understanding the factors at play in the economy you start to realize why things are how they are. Seriously start your search at the Mississippi River and how it influences trade from say the 1800s also look at the barrier islands and how that influences trade. Trust me you have no idea what you’re getting into until you actually understand what you are reading.

I have no idea what you are specifically responding to in this video, but it sounds like a typically American comment to any criticism- arrogant, condescending, unreflective. "The absolute best at trade." Who talks like that? The only way we can understand why things currently are the way they are is by breaking them down; this is essential for the study of history. And when we use words like 'juggernaut' or 'best' that are purely opinionated and not factual, we trap ourselves into accepting "things the way they are" as the best way they can ever be, rather than trying to be a bit more critical and wonder how things might be if we were more honest about our current condition.

Definitely the best when it comes to killing in private and worldwide, the U.S. has the most people who believe in angels.
The airbag, by the way, was invented somewhere else ;)
The U.S. is not the best when it comes to trade. That's just due to the currency.
BMW, by the way, is the largest exporter of cars from the U.S.! Why? Any idea about that?
What war that the U.S. fought didn't end in disaster?
WW2 - nothing ever got better after that - on the contrary.
Abortion, child labor and racism are circumstances we might expect in a developing country.
Or how do you see it?

@@Qwerty8 "Abortion, child labor and racism are circumstances we might expect in a developing country." Likewise, inequality of health care. The US is ranked at 38th worldwide for quality of health care. It's the most expensive in the world, and twice as expensive as the second most expensive country for health care. Bible schools and Bible colleges that take religion literally, and pass as "educational institutions". And certainly, the Republican party in the US is leading the country into a dangerous direction, towards a "third world" autocracy by blindly supporting an obvious criminal, the former president, Donald Trump.

I would agree with you if I were just "talking" about these topics, but in these videos I'm only reporting what other people have said. After all, I go to this festival to research and learn.

    • @MrFrescocotone
      @MrFrescocotone Před 11 měsíci +1

@WhatashameMaryJane I guess it's a matter of approach then. I'd take a different approach when facing such complex subjects. Presenting they way you did in a video, it's not a simple report of what people said. It's an elaborated summary of an already quite biased and partisan event, filtered and presented, and added personal interpretation presented as facts, which contains quite a lot of significant mistakes.
I'd the intention is to join and learn, which is totally respectable even when joining a partisan event, I'd rather give a different perspective such as, for example, what I learned or what the event made me want to research, or what controversial points have been explored and how one could study more in order to take an educated stance on the subject.
I am not saying you're wrong, and I'm right, just proposing an alternative way to approach the subject.
