Sold my 1976 RM125 in 1980 and bought a new 1980 RM125 for $1200 Fabulous motorcycle!
Too damn bad, that you can't still buy one for $1200. At that price, I could afford to buy their whole RM Lineup.
Bought a new one for a thousand dollars even on sale July of 1980 at Everett Suzuki in Washington state. I was 13 and just coming off a 79 XR 80 and wanted the new CR 80 from Everett Honda which l test rode in the alley that Saturday morning, but was told l was to big, so we went a mile down the road and l remember pulling up and all the rows of RMs at the dealership. It was exciting. I thought l was getting a RM 100, but Suzuki was having a sale, the 125 for a $1000. I was afraid of the thought of 125, but my dad made me get it , saying l would wear out the 100 like the XR. Best day of my life almost. I'm calling Kaplan to see if this bike is available. I remember that July day like it was yesterday. Great bike.
That CR 80 was anoydream machine. A friend of mine had one in 81 and he was a terror on it.
Reminds me of my 79 RM 400 which I loved in 1981 aged 15 , happy days 😊 Cheers all .
Had a brand new '79 RM80 that I graduated up from an MR50. I dreamt of an RM500, never had the chance to ride or own a 500, maybe some day.
I bought a brand new left over 1980 RM 125 in 1981. I paid $1000 for it. It was an awesome bike. At the time I only weighed about a 130 lbs. It didn't even know I was on it.
I had to give a thumbs up 10 seconds in on this one ! what a dime peace! one of the nicest bikes of that era!
I had one of those in 1980, fantastic bike
She’s a beauty - love the dual rear shocks
I am busy building one right now. And i have the same front end to put on. These are the bikes i learnt to ride on aswell so i have really fond memories of the 100 and 125.
The first real dirt bike I ever rode. I was 13 and I could barely touch the ground. Wanted one ever since.
Did you HEAR that SUZUKI?! Make it today and you'll sell the hell out of them !!!
Like Ken sr. I always had my eye on a Suzy Rm. A sweet bike !
That's fun to look at. Nice looking example. Those were good looking bikes. I too learned from Super Hunky and Dirt Bike magazine. My dad and I would share the mag. Those were good times. I was 15 and all I thought about 24/7 was bikes.
My friend had these bikes. A few over the years. Love riding that bike. Frist few bike I learned on 2002 dayz .
Beautiful!
wow so many memories mate just a buitilfull peace of kit ya
Love those vintage MX Suzuki RM's. They hauled ass, and I love the original graphics you have on the bike. Beautiful and Fast MX Racer.
Funny, i just went from an Ed bassmaster video to this one and you mentioned him!
You are living the dream driving all these bikes Ken! Even if its only for a few minutes!

日本人初のモトクロス世界チャンピオン、渡辺明さんを思い出しました。🇯🇵☺️
Very cool ! I had a 78 125 !☺️
I'm biased Suzuki for me 😜
The original Superman bike. Man that takes me back to when I was 15, a guy about 17 had one in 80 and when I saw him jumping that's i was so impressed. It's like a model T. They were water-cooled the next year, I had one of those.

I remember that 44 years later, at 60. From a GT80A, then a YX80D, to a taller than my inseam RM125T. My skills improved dramatically and was soon leaving an older mentor on a CR250 in the Walla Walla dust.
and Let the Good Times Roll....The Cars(song from that time is playing in my head)😀
Many greetings from Germany, for Ken Snr. The Godfather of the Honda CR. Long Life and many Fun with your CR 500s i Wish for you and your Family and Friends.

I commented on her yesterday and today I'm reading all of the other people who have the same fond memories wow. It was the best days of my life and I see that that's true for so many other's my age. Saturday night live was in it's prime to. $12,000 , there's no reason it should be any different today. You said it,it never really got any better than that.
Gimme that French fry 🍟
Mark “ Bomber “ Barnett .
In 1980 I was riding a Can-am 125 MX-6 only because I couldn't afford this baby which had a price of about $1250 then. I was 17 years old and had a part time job but that was out of my reach. The Can-am was fun and affordable at that time and pretty bulletproof. Fast forward 44 years now and I have a 79' RM250N in my garage. Total blast to ride.
I had a 79 RM 250 to when I was 17 in 82, best bike I ever had.
Beautiful. I think 1983 forks had yellow sliders but whatever this looks and sounds great.
One of the best Suzuki models!??????
Time warp awesome ❤
Nice super hunky ref. 👍
I traded my old 74 kawi 125 for a 79 rm125 tbat was one heck of a upgrade
Exactly right i had a Rm 80 same year we would take 30 min between races n out new piston and rings in it jump on ride till the went down i had a 84 Yz that wasnt half as fast or durable .
Killer bike!
thats a perfect bike
Just look at it would ya
It is a mako copy of a 19 80 250
77 and 78 RM125 motors screamed till redline....79,80, and 81 RM125 motors had to be short shifted or power would just drop off when you hit 8000 rpms. I liked my 77 motor better than my 79 motor.
Wherever this bike ended up at please sell it to me !
PE 175 in the back y'all
Sweet! 💯👍
Look at it. Would ya just look a it. Holy shit Sr you make me laugh
