I'm 100 with Carmen - Brock makes far more sense than most people think... Obviously, if Rome or Nabers is available, you take them... but Brock shouldn't be viewed as 'another TE', but as a playmaker and a pass catcher... even better, an elite pass catcher who can block! You wanna reclassify him as a WR and pay him more in 4 or 5 years? Sure... if it helps you sleep better at night.
I get the Bowers thing, but a T is the pick with the most impact. Realistically, we saw multiple high WRs traded the last few years. Multiple higher end Edges. Think about how rare it is to see an elite T just out there to take? Supply and demand. Plus you already have 2 very good TEs, surplus is great, but ships are won by protection and pressure. What good is a weapon if he can’t complete his route before the QB had a guy in his grill. It’s a good problem, but I take best T avail or trade back and still take a T and potentially a C.
If the top 3 WRs are gone and Alt is not there then you take Bowers. Mismatch hell for the Defense

Why does anyone think any of this is relevant? There are Still People who think Lamar Jackson is an overrated RB. You know why? Because sports fans follow memes & have No Capacity to think for themselves? Well, prove this wrong.
Play-calling _matters_ dammit! & when you have a QB who in college did Everything Caleb Williams Did In College _in the NFL_ & they still lost with him, you damned well better _look at_ the play-calling not the roster! How can you all MISS this?
Watch any highlight reel of Fields. He makes incredible passes at weird arm angles & on the run that only 2 other QBs in the NFL can make: Lamar Jackson & Patrick Mahomes. He *continues doing this* into the '21 season with the Bears only now his receivers fall down, fail to run their routes, & in the case of Darnell Mooney deflect the passes that hit him in the hands into those of defensive players.
But because You The Fans prefer empty memes to analysis, "Fields can't read defenses." Despite the fact that this was proven false czcams.com/video/QuhUbISnr8s/video.html *before* he ever took a snap in the NFL.
Then Matt Eberflus gets hired & for some reason even though they still only had a #1 WR who couldn't catch passes that hit him in the hands, the simplifying of the offense were (there were two) all blamed on Fields. First, they reduced their "schemes" to "hand the ball off X3, then toss a slant." _Then_ they added "on certain passing plays, Don't Throw To Certain Receivers no matter what.
Not if they get open. Not even if they are the Only Receivers To Get Open." This resulted in multiple drives shutting down due Just To Those Plays yet the Bears kept calling them for Over A Year. Fields even went to the extent to call this out publicly even though doing so could have ended his career!
& You The Fans just kept repeating "he can't read defenses."
I have been saying Brock Bowers would make this offense complete. You can run him at Full back or TE or in the Slot and the Defense wont know how to defend it. If they Blitz CW will have so many explosive options.
I can see the Bears trading down and still getting Bowers. That would be explosive, and 3 TE sets are a nice safety blanket for a rookie QB.
Personally I think if Turner is still there at #9( best defensive player in the draft ), he’s the only guy I’d take. A real blue chipper at a position of need.
Last year HOU did something similar and it worked out great.
Proof is in the pudding, and Bears fans are sick of getting spoiled pudding. I believe in Poles, but these coaches and players have to win. As far as the 9 pick, Bowers would be great, but they need another de. I would bet it’s Turner
Poles has slowly been building this roster, like he said he wanted to. They are at the point where they should contend for a playoff spot this year and they've been improving since Poles initially gutted the defense that first year. And it's the whole team, not just the qb. With this team roster and the teams on their schedule, the Bears would have a shot to be 9-8 even with Bagent as qb1. With a rookie qb, I'd say 10-7 if he has an OK year.
Honestly, doesn't matter if Bowers is "not just another TE." You already have Kmet - a top 10 TE - and you signed Gerald Everett to a 2 yr deal. Adding Bowers would add a playmaker, but it would just crowd a room when you have more gaping holes. Ideally, you get Caleb and Odunze/Nabers. If all 3 receivers are gone then that means there's a good chance Joe Alt is sitting there. As much as I like Braxton Jones, if Alt is sitting there and the receivers are off the board you have to take him. If it's not Alt, then maybe Verse or Latu (assuming Turner goes to Atlanta). Otherwise, trade back. Go from 9 to the mid teens and still pick up Verse/Latu or Byron Murphy II. If you really wanted to, trade back to the mid 20s, grab Jackson Powers-Johnson, pick up a 2nd rd pick or maybe even a future 1. W/ the second rd pick you can go receiver with a Keon Coleman or Ladd McConkey type guy. Could also package that 2nd with a second from next year, move back into the first round, and take a guy like Adonai Mitchell. That would give you Caleb at QB, JPJ at C, and AD Mitchell as your 3rd receiver behind Moore and Allen. Many ways to go about this. Cannot wait for the draft to see what Poles does. Bear Down!
Depends on how Poles grades the offensive linemen behind Alt, the DEs and the DTs…but bowers is as blue chip as they get and Carmen is 100% correct about Waldron’s offense. Everett is on a 2 year deal and that would give bowers time to learn from Kmet (Y) and Everett (move) before stepping into THE role. It is also shortsighted to call bowers a TE, he’s a weapon…can be utilized outside, slot, in line, backfield and create matchup nightmares. So many great QBs have a great TE.
I would love Brock Bowers, or Ben Sinnott but I’m guessing they’re going defense, probably defense and. But I would prefer a tight end but it also matters what they can do in free agency. They spent on another tight end so I don’t think they will use that on a tight end unfortunately.
I just hope Poles doesn't trade any of next years draft picks

No that’s not it, we believe that Justin Fields had an opportunity with a better team. He didn’t get that opportunity that’s why so many fans are upset. We think he could take another step, of course with Pittsburgh he probably will. And that’s going to be depressing if that happens. I hope the Bears win with Caleb Williams, I really do.but we just were growing up with Justin Fields we wanted to see how that movie ended.That is the reason..

Brock Bowers is the best receiver in the draft.
No, I do not agree to take Bowers. If our needs are T, DE, C, and WR. Why would you take a TE? Even Sandra Bulluck knows it. The first thing you do is write the check for the QB and the second check is for the insurance the LT. B.Jones is serviceable but OL with neck injuries are never the same. Best Bears years are when they have a good OL. Even center is a better option if Poles thinks that Jackson Powers Johnson is a better option then I am game for that as well. But we have Kmet and Everett. WR if we are going to run 2 TE sets most likely that 3rd WR doesn't hit the field very often. DE is a possibility but supposedly nwxt years class is stronger than this year. OL or the trenches is always the best option. Those are my reasons why not to take Bowers
No... Caleb Williams will not make the team better in 2024 and most likely won't until the tail of the 2025 season. He's a rookie QB with a lot of flaws and potential it will take him time because there is a lot to learn. Plus, Williams actions shows that he is not guy that puts his down and work (Hopefully, that's just a show). Because if you disrespect an opponent or rival you better and you or the team doesn't play up to expectations then you run risk of alienating the team and the fans. This usually doesn't show the best leadership.
It's not the new normal... most student athletes let their talking happen on the field. Let's look at some of the other players in the draft like MHJ, Joe Alt, Malik Nabors, Rome Odunze and Brock Bowers all prospect I have higher than Caleb Williams. You rarely hear anything outside of football with them. Heck, this past October, OSU beat Purdue in the rain 41-7, MHJ had 6 catches 105 yards 1 TD and 3 drops, and he apologized to teammates and was upset with himself.
The only reason the Bears might win more than 7 games 2024 is because the team is better and there may be a slight improvement in offensive coaching. Caleb Williams has shown the same strengths and weaknesses Justin Fields has shown coming out of college. He may be slightly better at pass from 0-10 yards, but he holds on to the ball larger than Justin and is nowhere near the athlete Fields was. Plus, Williams has shown very little abilities at being a game manager or winning tough games against strong opponents.
Two the Offensive line is still subpar in pass blocking and Bears lost their top rushing threat. Poles aversion to actually signing a quality center or drafting one in the top 3 rounds is mindboggling. Defensive lines will t-up on Williams because they already know he likes to play hero ball, he leaves the pocket very quickly, he holds on to the ball longer than Fields, He holds the loose like Fields and he is not the generational athlete Fields was.
The utter lack of quality depth... If DJ Moore, Montez Sweat, D'Andre Swift, Teven Jenkins, One of the Tackles goes down on injuries for a substantial time the Bears will lose all or any momentum. Lack of leadership will hurt or divide the team.
The Team is still coached by Matt Eberflus and GM'd by Ryan Poles... who in two years have little to show for their work and take no accountability. They have not broken the cycle they are just taking another spin on the wheel.
The Bears are 7-win time at best!! One or both Eberflus/ Poles will be fired.

Dallas will be a 7-8 sack a season type of dude. Now with Bowers you get a game changer on the offense that will help elevate your young qb. Bowers has way more impact.
Don't need Bowers at 9. They can trade down and if Bowers is gone, then pick up a TE with a pick from the trade down. Or not, because they already picked up Gerald Everett.

@@mjblack1435 Travis Kelce 3rd round, Rob Gronkowski 2nd round. The list goes on and on of good to great TEs in later rounds. Bears have bigger needs for a blue chipper than TE.

I have been a Chicago fan for over 40 years. This is the 1st time for me that we can get a QB and grow with him. We shouldn't take Brock cause we have 2 TightEnds! Grab Alt or another wide and run. But let's compete!! Appreciate ur show!! #BearDown
