I've said this before, but I'm always amazed at the amount of unique historical footage you have, and your efforts to make it all public. Everything from 1986 VFL games to gems like this. Thank you for all the work.
Ohh wow the old red rattlers trains you can leave the doors open while on the train I remember the seats were very comfortable and have the windows down and up to put your bags up top wow also have a conductor on the rear of the train hand single the driver to leave not like today you have to be quick doors close automatically now those were the great old days
As time goes on the seldom photographed ramps at Flinders St station will be forgotten. Great that this fottage was taken and posted and so reminds people what they looked like before replaced by escalators at great expense. Ramps do not break down and consume electricity like the escalators do. We were also fitter using ramps unlike today where so many are turning into fat slobs. Ramps would also move more people in a given time than escalators. Ramp rant now ended.
Ok she is running down the ramp to catch a train on a different line. Everyone's standard practice doing this is to get in the nearest carriage door to the bottom of the ramp. A poor script to not have her do this for the dramatic effect of missing the train. Not real life.

I moved from Brisbane to Melbourne in 1972 and thought wow, such a great rail system.

I remember those ramps at the east end of the platforms
I loved the red rattlers.
The red rattlers were still being used on the Port Melbourne line until at least 1982 when I lived there
they say she's still waiting on the platform for the next train...
Missed it by..that much
