@@hpcamera6602 I was lucky enough to find them at a music festival in SF. Didn’t see them play there but someone gave me an iTunes card with 5 free songs. They were announced as the only band without a drummer (they have a drummer now) that will cause mosh pits, and they didn’t lie. It was a great show.

At first I thought, "This ain't the DM3 I know." But it grew on me and now I think this song is pretty good. If their new songs sounded like this I wouldn't be disappointed.

i normally find it annoying and an over-exaggeration when people say 'oh my god i cant stop listening to this song' but holy shit ive listened to this song at least 50 times in the last few days.
Cage the Elephant and Devil Makes three merged together :D Love it, catchy melody. This could well be a song forthe next Red Dead Redemption game! hopefully they hook them up.
The drums made this album and tour amazing. Saw their redrocks set basically at a snowed in central PA show where only half the ppl made it. We had cart blanche on the show and the venue it was an amazing time, we all bought so much merch too
Listening to their albums is cool, but some of the live stuff beats the albums. Graveyard (Live at KDHX), River Deep (Live at Amoeba), Aces and Twos (Live on KEXP), Forty Days (Jam In The Van), Gracefully Facedown (Live on KEXP), Bangor Mash (Live at Pickathon 2013), Shades (Live on KEXP), For Good Again (Daytrotter Session)
Very different from anything they have done but it is still a masterpiece. Yeah addition of the drums on this album completes their music well. But the earlier albums are still what I prefer.
It's definitely different, but something about this as the next step in a journey all the way from their first album, it fits really well. Like, there was conflict and battle, this seems to be a sort of resolution. The funkier beat and more refined tones give a sense of control and accomplishment finally. Like... victory.
Was in a chat about rockabilly, psychobilly, folkobilly, ect and someone recommend this song. I'm so happy they did. I'll be checking out more of their songs. If anyone has any recommendations please comment
If you haven't already found them... all hail (best lyrics ever!), old no 7, the bullet, aces and twos, the johnson family... all of their music that i've heard is just amazing!
Lyrics 8 out of 10 Different direction on the overall sound I guess it will grow on me But its not Do wrong,Right or anything that was peppy and fun and crazy of the sound that grabbed me But they as artists, would eventually grow weary of what made you love them
I think someone typo'd their comment about this song to say dmt instead of dm3 and now that I look at it from that perspective.. ya know what man, yeah
These dudes were never bluegrass. They say it themselves, and you dont know what it is you're hearing if you thought they were. They did rock n roll their way, and they still do it their way. They fuckin slay it live and continue to make good old American music.
I really like this song, but if i'm completely honest it feels more like one of Pete Bernhard's solo songs rather than a the Devil makes three song, not that must be a bad thing. I'm exited for what more we will see from this album.
I mean its not a bad song but it sounds more like houndmouth or some other indie band . They seem like they have deffitnley lost there gritty edge that they had in the first couple albums. Hopefully the album has a little more soul to it. This just seems to clean for them
I know it sucks to not hear a sound that we expect from a band we love but bands do evolve. They would probably get bored of themselves if they always performed the same kind of music. Take another listen to their albums chronologically, you'll see a constant evolution.
Divert I agree that they have evolved alot and I don't nessicarly dislike that i just thought this single was a little meh, although it would probaly be great live
Idk this is the culmination of their sound man. I'm sure the rest of the album will rage. They dont wanna go letting the cat out of the bag with 1 track. This song is different but it is them all day. Probably finally getting to where they want to go. It's just good fuckin music man, that's it
This is a good song, no doubt. But it’s not what we’re used to hearing with DMT. Maybe his will be the outlier in the new album, and they’re waiting to surprise us
Really hoping that the band isn’t straying away from the Bluegrass/country style. This song sounds like something by the British indy band The Coral. It’s good but it’s not what I love about Devil Makes Three.
this song has a mood, but the rest were so disappointing to me. kind of rock n rolly. definitaly far from their genuine blue grass vibe that I adore so much.
We get it, you don't care for the different sounds DM3 experiments with & want a return to the past, however there are thousands of people who disagree with you. Their opinions are definitely as valid as yours. My advice is if you're no longer a fan move on, why slam people, and musicians, who have different taste than you?
I love this song and every DM3 release... I was just stating a similarity with the mess around... that is all! I have the album preordered and will be seeing them in November! woop.
The secret of life is hidden on related youtube videos of unknown artists.
Thanks for this masterpiece The Devil Makes Three!
Come on, they're not unknown.

Friend, I have to think this was a maturation in content, musicianship, and lyricism... Glad you grew to enjoy it as much as I have 🙏🙏🙏
I lovebthe message in this song. It is a subtle encouragement.
Honestly it took a sec but all their new songs took a sec to grow on me
Bands evolve, awesome song
Amazing harmonies at 2:33. Great song, can't wait to hear it live.
Come paint my face
Come take my hand
I do not wish you
To understand
Someday you too
Will go to war
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
Fortune may hold you
She's not your friend
Kind words spoken
Bows deepened
Foulest creature may wear the sweetest smile
O do not fear for I will see you in a while
Come paint my face
Come take my hand
I do not wish you
To understand
Someday you too
Will go to war
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
Eyes upon you
Through the years
All of your troubles
All of your fear
Always watching
Always see
I am you now and you are me
If I should fall you take my sword
All that is mine will be yours
Do not fear those we leave behind
The blood that runs in your veins, it is mine
Come paint my face
Come take my hand
I do not wish you
To understand
Someday you too
Will go to war
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
Yeah by that time may you not fear death anymore
I am a stone fallin' through black water
On the bottom I start again
I am a stone fallin' through black water
My fall it never ends
My fall it never ends
Come paint my face
Come take my hand
I do not wish you
To understand
Someday you too
Will go to war
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
Come paint my face
Come take my hand
I do not wish you
To understand
Someday you too
Will go to war
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
And by that time may you not fear death anymore
Thank you!

I was a little iffy on this track on first listen, but it's definitely growing on me. That a cappella section at 2:33 is super.

Sad to see lots of hate in this comment section. Bottom line, this has always been an original band and they continue to be original. FUCK THE HATERS
So I guess the chains from that couch have finally been broken after all these years 😂
The chains are loosened no doubt

Well hello new Dm3 post
Needs a little more bite. This is too slick, I think.
We'll get this case Dad..
I'm still on the fence about the new sound, but this song is a banger regardless.
Honestly this should be the theme for borderlands 4
Brings me nam vibes and I'm here for it
Can't wait for the new album, is it August yet?

About that never did bluegrass thing... "Do Wrong Right"
Went from folk to whatever this is. Can't say I'm happy.
At least it's not terrible.
Rewatching the series "vikings" makes this hit 10000000× harder
Reminds me of CCT's for some reason
Wow way different from thier emo bluegrass back in the 2000s. Still good though.
While i love the song its just not what they usually do
it's like they are not depressed and drunk anymore, but still try to sing about it
It grooves like A cockroach by Grasshouse
