- Did you know that this tiny island in Indonesia called Java has a bigger population than almost every country in the world?!

These are all the countries in the world that have smaller populations than this tiny island in Indonesia. This is Java and believe it or not, but 145 million people call this place home. That is a bigger population than in each country in Europe. In entire Africa is Nigeria the only country that has a bigger population than this island. In all of America, there are only 2 countries bigger, these are the United States and Brazil. Java has also a bigger population than all of these countries in Asia. And lastly in the entire Oceania live only 30% of the population that lives on this tiny island.

1. Yes, Indonesia is big, or rather wide. So wide that we have 3 time zones. However, it is not very long compared to its width, you can clearly see the difference on the map.
2. Java Island is the most densely populated island in Indonesia. This is because most Indonesians move to this island for work, which means other islands, especially small ones, may be less populated.
3. When I say most Indonesians moved to Java, they mostly moved to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia before Nusantara became the capital (I'm not sure if it has become official or not). This causes Jakarta to be very densely populated compared to other cities. And believe me, the difference is drastic.
4. While the island of Java has approximately 150 million inhabitants, several hundred islands in Indonesia are believed to be uninhabited. So yes, not all islands in Indonesia are that dense so there's no need to worry.

Java is more like 159 million. It’s 10 1/2 times bigger than lis Angeles county, where I live, that has a population of 10 million. So take this densely populated county and expand it to the same size as Java with 54 million fewer people. Crowded.
