About that date - homeboy was pocket watching. Thanks to podcast, men go on dates with women to scout you out on how much they expect you to spend. They are “advised” to not make the first date cost too much so you don’t be bragging about a free plate. The last 2 guys I went on a date quickly asked me how much do I expect a man to pay (marriage, vacations, dates) so they now are purposely offering bare minimal at the beginning so they don’t come out of pocket too much for something that’s not working out. One of the two guys had a matching sports set on our 1st meet up, it was very “I’m just gonna go in what I got on” -ish, after weeks of failing to meet up you’d think he would at least put on a button down, but because he had to dress up M-F for WORK 😒 he said he hates to put in effort on his weekend wear. A 1st impression lasts too much to be wearing your college set, never bothered to meet up with that one again.
Same, met one guy but before we met he wrote this long paragraph about why he doesn’t do dinner for the first date. I was like fine we can meet at a park no big deal, I then suggested we get coffee bc I had just gotten off work and was tired, he said he doesn’t drink coffee. Dude came to the park with a mug of alcohol and talked about how he admired diddys business mind. I ended the date and never spoke to him again.

I think that’s the problem with dating, men don’t feel as if they have to put forth any effort. I don’t expect him to show up in a tuxedo but please be appropriate.
That date reminds me of 2020 when I intentionally quit my job to take a sabbatical. I wasn’t working, I was just living life and trying to get through the p@ndemic. Met a guy on a dating app and he was so turned off by the fact that I wasn’t working. Nevermind the fact that I had thousands of dollars saved up and could AFFORD to not work for 14 months. But some people just think a woman is lazy or looking to be fully taken care of if they’re not working.

I literally had the same kinda date with an older gentleman. He met me at my car, I got out of the car and he said, " Oh you're dressed up? I only wear shirts and jeans and this is the only way I dress!" Everyone in the restaurant complimented me but him. That was our last date. LOL

I have been on soooo many dates where the man thought I was too dressed up. I mean I don’t know I feel like when you’re going out to dinner you put on a nice dress and heels. That’s my go to but I have had those kinds of encounters. Also they may say something like you have on too much makeup. Or a guy even said something about my weave and when I found out I have a lot of my own natural hair and just wear weaves bc 1. I’m lazy and 2. I don’t want to put so much heat in my real hair. Anyway when he found out I have hair he really was disrespectful about me having a weave. I’ve realized those guys aren’t for me. Guys know they have a significant other who likes to dress up and get pretty when we step out and on down times you’ll wear no makeup and tennis shoes. If he expects that on a first date then we’re most likely not compatible.

Hi Maya!! The guy from St. Louis was clearly jealous of you and your lifestyle. His whack attempt to make you feel over dressed was just that....whack. Also, he's grown so he should know the difference between a gown and a skirt.
I pulled up that hotel and you were dressed accordingly for that environment. The hotel gives me sexy nighttime vibes and just thinking about his outfit in that hotel is actually pure comedy. Also what grown man sends you a link to the hotel and doesn't make reservations for the restaurant there. Again, he's weird and comes off a little cheap.
