Darn that dream I dream each night
You say you love me and you hold me tight
But when I awake you're out of sight
Oh, darn that dream
Darn your lips and darn your eyes
They lift me high above the moonlit skies
Then I tumble out of paradise
Oh, darn that dream
Darn that one-track mind of mine
It can't understand that you don't care
Just to change the mood I'm in
I'd welcome a nice old nightmare
Darn that dream and bless it too
Without that dream I never would have you
But it haunts me and it won't come true
Darn that dream
Darn that one-track mind of mine
It can't understand that you don't care
Just to change the mood I'm in
I'd welcome a nice old nightmare
Darn that dream and bless it too
Without that dream I never would have you
But it haunts me and it won't come true
Oh, darn, darn that dream
Darn that dream - Hudba
Amazing! And to think my Uncle Wendell Culley is playing the trumpet.
Your uncle is amazing !
Yvette Porter Moore
Wonderful playing from your uncle.
Yvette ... Are you continuing that family jazz heritage?
😄
Very cool!
That's great. Sounds good. 👍

Someone's in love!
Not to slight any other female jazz vocalist, as each one has their own style.. but Sarah, oh Sarah! IMO the finest jazz vocalist hands down.. She gives each word, each phrase a personality of its own.. her incredible range is there to add yet another dimension to her incredible phrasing.. when I hear her I am not listening to a song, I am going on a journey.
+My2sense "each word each phrase a personality of its own"
so true and a brilliant critique. and goal for all jazz singers. thanks. the only one i can think of that is in the same league in that regard is Pops, but she also had such an incredible "instrument!" in her voice, range, control, tone. she's "it":

Wow., I wish I had thought to say this, so well said! So true! Her voice takes us places that no other vocalist can.
Billie!
One of the great female singers of past. Sarah, Billie, Ella are in a class of their own.
Lady Day, Sarah & Ella are the best singers that have graced this earth.

I have loved, loved Sarah Vaughan since I was very young! Love this song with her singing it!!!!!
so well said... she was the best of all time... I love Sarah! There are others who are super but sarah is the best ever!
Sassy Elegance, The Divine Sarah Vaughan 1958! From a favorite album by her "NO COUNT SARAH", the Basie band but without The Count. The superb Ronnel Bright handles arrangements and piano duties.
This is real music a classic
What a amazing performance!
I really love her🫶🏻 she is jazz queen🥺
Two of the greats in modern jazz. No fancy runs or fills, just feeling the music. Great for my bank of clarinet and sax pieces.
Thank you David Amram for sending me this lovely and romantic song, a while back. It still feels good to hear it especially from Sarah. Hugs from your protege.

Ms. Devine - wow, you're singing my dream to perfection!!!
Que voz maravilhosa
I love these lyrics
BEAUTIFUL!!! THANKS,MY FRIEND!!! NICE WEEK!!!
What is also remarkable is the subtlety of the instruments playing "against" her rich tone (for example, the sax at 1:50, offering not an embroidery but a counterpoint.
fav standard of all times.
increíble, hermoso!
lovely tune !!!
I was just listening to Phyllis Hyman and you can hear Sarah's influence in her tone and phrasing.
The sass is real!!
eccezionale!!!!!!
Sarah had such intimacy and chops in her tender young voice.
this is alt. take 2 on mercury for anyone who's wondering.
Sweeter than sweet.
The only voice that i admire and love the most.
What about Ella?
