      Sort of.
      He got them Impact's highest rating ever on a Monday Night against Raw that had Bret Hart's return on it (which got the same rating as the previous week's Raw). That speaks volumes to how much people wanted to see it and also how well TNA did in producing that show. Whereas Raw, outside of the Bret segments? Business as usual
      But then TNA failed to keep that spark in interest alive just like they always do. It happened with their other two sparks (Sting's debut and the Knockouts Division starting).
      That's not a Hogan problem that's a TNA thing. TNA had Jeff Hardy, the biggest name that WWE had after Cena with them only a few months after he left WWE in 09...and he didn't make a dent. TNA can say they had Macho Man's final appearance in wrestling with them but nobody ever talks about it. There's a reason for that

I actually didn't mind when they brought in Lacey Von Erich, she was smoking hot as well. Madison Rayne didn't fit so much but she's hot. I feel like the Hogan era of TNA gets a lot of flack, and rightly so in parts. Some of the choices were very questionable to say the least. But it wasn't all bad, and if anything, I feel like the downfall of TNA, happened AFTER they were gone. As that was a period where they kept having ups, and then just throwing it all in the toilet. To the point they pretty much became untrustworthy, as anything good, could just turn out to be a giant turd in the long run.
    Even here, from the sounds of it, if you believe Biscoffs words. It sounded like chaos backstage, or least you really didn't know what was truly going on, and of course it slowly fell apart.
    Hogan and Bischoff never killed TNA. But that time certainly left a big crack it, which only developed over time.

    • @onewarriornation602
      @onewarriornation602 Před 9 dny

      The downfall of TNA falls squarely on the shoulders of Dixie Carter and Bruce Prichard.
      You touched on one of the biggest issues with that company: Inevitably they would constantly throw in the towel and start over from scratch with a different writing group every few years.
      The fact The Carters refused to invest into building up the brand, that they were clueless on how pro wrestling worked and the fact they would job everyone out to Dixies latest and greatest mid carder from WWE acquisition also played a massive role.
      The thing with Hogan and Bischoff, and Russo was they gave the IWC exactly what the IWC had been demanding for YEARS prior: Fresh new faces and TNA originals getting pushed. Those three delivered. But... It is those three, so the IWC is never going to give credit where it is due and will be a bunch of trailer park dwelling 60 year olds in 20 years still whining that Perc Angle and the Nursing Home Mafia burying everyone for two years straight was "peak TNA until Hogan showed up!!111"

    • @Larry-dq4ig

      Hogan and Co. coming in was the beginning of the end. TNA had a lot of great young talent and was on the upswing prior to Hogan coming in. He brought all his old buddies with him and they started overpaying for people past their primes. TNA was loaded with significant debt as a direct result of the increased production costs and overpaying past their prime talent they didn't need. That had a great affect on the future of TNA going forward after Hogan and Bischoff fleeced Dixie.

      @@tonysnyder5394 See, I was watching TNA at the time. Contrary to your revisionist mark history....
      TNA was garbage before they came in. On one side of the product you had a stable of way beyond their prime former stars going over everyone each week, a pill popping junkie holding every title in the company simultaneously and a 400lb jobber with DD breasts being pushed as a Goldberg wannabe. It was garbage and a joke.
      Hogan and Bischoff came in and cleaned it up. Brought in known stars that still had shelf life left(Jeff Hardy, RVD), known products that had the talent to contribute(Mr. Anderson, D'Angelo Dinero), pushed homegrown TNA talent and younger talent(Robert Roode, AJ Styles, James Storm, Abyss, Matt Morgan, Magnus) as well as helped bring in a lot of new fresh talent(Tony Nese, Gunner, Crimson, Zima Ion, Lacey Von Erich, Robbie E etc), in addition to retooling Bully Ray and helping to elevate him to an upper mid card/main event caliber of player.
      Obviously it worked and objectively was better than the trash TNA was putting out before, the viewership doubled.
      Had it been any other group of names who created it you same people who try and trash it and rewrite history would be talking about how awesome the product was from 2010-2013. TNA got more attention with Hogan than people want to admit

  • @brianpeaden5911
    @brianpeaden5911 Před 14 dny +1

    TNA's situation wasn't the fault of Hogan and Bischoff, but their arrival isn't mere coincidence either. TNA's management wanted to bring in a big name and they chose Hogan. Bringing him onboard meant bringing his baggage on board too, as well as his reputation (good or bad). Based on what Eric says here, TNA was willing to give just about anything to bring them on board, so I don't blame either of them for taking the payday. TNA chose to spend the money the way they did at the expense of their own talent. Which was the problem with the whole thing. They were desperate to be relevant and turned the company into a revolving door of well known talent from other promotions taking the spotlight from their own TNA originals.

    • @onewarriornation602
      @onewarriornation602 Před 9 dny

      Ironic you bring up the TNA originals, the only time they really got a sustained and quality push was while Hogan and Bischoff were there.
      TNA's problem since day one of the Carter Family was they refused to invest into growing the brand. They wanted a low cost money maker for them that they didn't have to put much effort into. Every single "name" that was signed was being paid for by Spike TV.
      The other issue was that TNA would sign who they thought was a big star, hype it to death, debut them and a month later they are steamrolling the TNA roster and World Champion. They would get that initial ratings bump, bury their own talent, the ratings would ge back down to normal and Dixie and Co would stand there clueless as what to do.
      The last major issue was Dixie was told AJ Styles was the next Stone Cold and Samoa Blow was the 400lb talentless version of The Rock and she clutched onto it for as long as possible. The reality was AJ Styles needed to rebrand like he did after leaving TNA and a 400lb Indy darling who blows up and sucks wind just from walking down a ramp was never going to draw a dime, and never has.
      Hogan and Bischoff went into TNA with a great plan and it was working for several years but TNA was destined to go nowhere with The Carters as the owners.
      It was the end of the line when the numbers doubled, merchandise doubled, they were getting new sponsors weekly and ready to jump to where AEW was in 2019 only for Dixie to hand control of the company to Clueless Bruce Prichard because he told her he was the secret genius behind the WWF and that he could turn her Stone Cold Styles and The Flab into The Rock delusions into reality.

    Come on Bischoff let's be real - TNA brought in Hogan for his mainstream appeal and it became a sh*t show and you became a BIG part of the storyline with Aces and Eights.
    AJ Styles and Bobby Roode each called out Bischoff and Hogan respectively - and it was glorious because they both deserved to be booted out of TNA asap!

      You also conveniently left out that Hogan and Bischoff were also behind the pushes for AJ Styles, Abyss, Bully Ray, James Storm, Robert Roode and Matt Morgan.
      Yeah..... It was such a "shit show" the viewership DOUBLED from 2010-2013.
      Guess they should have stuck with putting every title in the company on the junkie Perc Angle while Steiner, Nash, Sting and Booker T buried the entire roster each week.
