Avatharam (English: Incarnation) is a 1995 Tamil musical film written and directed by Nassar, making his directorial debut. The film features Nassar and Revathi in lead roles. The film, produced by Vaidyanathan, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 9 June 1995 to critical acclaim.

You hit the nail right. Its contrast of her color and ours. He explains the concept of color and mood its attached to each of it through his words. Indeed a different situation for a duet from the run of the mill situations. IR's music is in different level. He chose folk rendition to western classic orchestration and instrumentation to suit the situation. I think u need to look about the situation of the song, lyrics and other facts.
