    I just want to tell this story How Jockos "GOOD and Seal mentality" helped me out in a tricky bad situation :D I was hiking in the mountains and had a bad move fell over and sprained my ankle . I started to panic how will i go back down what will happen? it hurts. Then i started to think what woud Jocko say GOOD :) and made myself calm. Told myself okay i have water, the weather is good,no dangerours animals around,noones shooting at me. nothing gonna happen :) i made two walking stick cruch from some wood i found ,it took me 3 more extra hours, but i walked back down before dark. i know its funny ,compare this to Seals but its pretty cool how this mentality can help a regular dude too like me.

      Keeping a level head during adversities or chaos is an invaluable skill; especially when others are losing theirs.
      Had you panicked, you could've easily made a bad situation worse.

    This is the best summary I could muster for the Leadership Loop:
    - assess time (given vs. needed)
    - check influence of / to emotions (self and others)
    - check if driven by ego / humility
    - put the team first
    - is it in line with our priorities?
    - are our priorities still correct?
    - does it still fit the tactical mission?
    - does it still fit the strategic mission?
    - detach from the plan / situation
    - acquire different perspectives
    - delegate if possible, so you can lead / stay in the leadership loop
    - try to delegate the good and do the bad stuff yourself if possible
    - be aware of your leadership capital and spend it wisely
    - assess your cognitive biases / logical fallacies

    The story about how you reflected on the journey of learning how to lead reminds me of a video about how the mind works when learning. The metaphor was initially like navigating thru a thick jungle you not moving fast because you are carving neuro pathways thru your brain. The more trips you make down this path the more worn in and easier it becomes to navigate. Eventually it becomes so easy that it looks like instinctive. Your trail blazed single track became a paved highway you get there much faster. Learning something new takes alot more energy but the more you do it the easier it becomes. Because the path is improved each time your travel it allowing the energy hungry mind to conserve energy. You're leadership instinct was hard earned by practicing leadership over and over and over until it became very easy, appearing to the outside observer to be effortless. Leadership can be learned and taught if they continue to travel down paths of leadership until they master it.

    I can't believe Jocko listens to metal. Listening to him talk I assumed he enjoyed the sofistication and complexity of Handel and Vivaldi's Arias. "Vedro Con Mio Diletto" is the only song, in my mind, that holds the intense emotions of Jocko's.

    Talking about red lights and time. I realized the concept otw to mountain school in elementary school. The ride to the schooling took forever. Otw back seemed to take no time at all. We were all discussing what we had experienced and what had happened. The concept of time was relative to how we passed it. Companionship was the key.

I'm really paranoid about name dropping b/c you're right that people notice and it's a bad look, but sometimes I feel like I'm overly limiting myself and causing unnecessary hesitancy in the way I communicate.

    Time is the only resource you can't store, buy, steal, haggle or create. It's the ultimate finite resource that must be efficiently allocated for because all other resources require a time cost to be paid before they can be realized and you can't store time up; you can be ahead of schedule, but eventually you will run out of time, ahead of schedule as you may be.

    Jocko,
    Please review A Few Bad Men , by (retired) Major Fred Galvin
    the incredible true story of an elite team of U.S. Marines set up to take the fall for Afghanistan war crimes they did not commit-and their leader who fought for the redemption of his men.

    • @joshhoodrat451
      @joshhoodrat451 Před rokem

      Lt. Colonel Steve Morgan, USMC (retired) and jury member of the 2008 Marine Special Operations Command’s Court of Inquiry says in the foreword to A Few Bad Men, “This is a case of a perfect storm of toxic leadership.”
      Mattis retired and went on to make a fortune serving on four corporate boards, including Theranos and military contractor General Dynamics. Theranos’ technology would not only be denied FDA approval, but it was proven to be a fraud. During the Elizabeth Holmes trial, Mattis, who had served as a Theranos board member for several years, testified that he was unaware of any of Theranos’ scandalous actions. This seems unlikely, given Mad Dog’s legendary tenacity, and the fact that he had a fiduciary duty to know what was going on.

    • @joshhoodrat451
      @joshhoodrat451 Před rokem

      Mattis’ disgraceful actions are laid bare in A Few Bad Men. He used his position as secretary of defense to bottle up the Freedom of Information Act requests to get testimony in the March 4, 2007 ambush exposed. Shocking testimonies have now been released and tell a terrible story of betrayal by a Marine against other Marines. They reveal why the Pentagon’s top-brass generals who burned the careers of subordinates but then pivoted to lucrative careers with every defense contracting company lost their forever war in Afghanistan, and really, haven’t won a war in decades

    1:00:00 In concept, remote viewing isn't about using the eyes when open, it's about using the 3rd eye (pineal gland) to see while in meditative states where the consciousness is projected as far beyond the body as they can go. If you have never had an out of body experience, I understand the disbelief. However, I have friends whose hearts stopped or were otherwise close to death who have experienced those states, e.g. seen their bodies and people trying to revive them from perspectives otherwise impossible, such as from the ceiling or in another room. It's not uncommon on psychedelics, either, to have the same kind of experience. Now, I'm not saying remote viewing is a viable tool -- I'm just saying...
