  • Complete step-by-step electrical and mechanical repair options for a Mk3 Clio windscreen washer pump - fault finding and repair. If your washer has just stopped or smells 'burnt' - it's likely electrical, check the electrical stalk assembly (Section 1). If the washers have been slowly getting worst / weaker over time, it's not the electrical switch, it's the pump, go to the second repair Section from 08:24.
    1) First section from 0:00 covers removal and checking of wiper and washer stalk removal, electrical checks and reassembly,
    2) Second section from 08:24 cover the windscreen washer pump removal and electrical checks and reassembly.

      Thanks mate. Didn't really start out to make a 'channel', so I only post things that I don't see anywhere else - my main drive is to educate and push for the right to repair... Thanks for the +ve feedback!

    Excellent video mucker, very informative and useful, gonna have a go at sorting my daughters car now, she did have a bit of smoke from near the ignition one time so i think I'll go straight to the switch first😊

      What was the outcome with your daughter's car? I'm having the same issue now. Smoke and no power/sound from the pump, just the wipers moving.

    Very informative. Now I know it'll be simpler to check pump plug first, nevertheless I was checking how to remove switch. Thanks.

    Great video 👍🏻 Hopefully you see this I’m having a problem with mine but I have changed my motor and still nothing I’m not getting any noise or click on the switch don’t suppose you know what the problem is?

      Have you pulled it apart? If it's physically damaged you may have to replace it. It clips out very easily. Down at the washer end, are you getting voltage (two person test). Start with the simplest things first...

    nice mate, have thought about making a video on changing the headlight/foglights bulbs? you reckon doing what u did to get to the water pump is enought to reach the headlight/foglights?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem

      Yeah, headlights are tricky - you can change them without too much effort, but others are wrong when they suggest you need to remove the bumper - which is just nuts! Maybe that'll be next!

    Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina, great video it is very informing. Recently I have had a problem in my Clio mk3. I didn't turn on the ignition fully on and I pulled the lever for the wipers and it started smoking followed by the smell of burnt plastic/wires. After a couple of days my windscreen sprayers wouldn't respond after pulling the lever. No sound of the pump or anything, just nothing happens. I'm wondering if that could be solved the same way you did because it looks fairly easy and straight forward by just dissasembeling it and cleaning the contacts or should I look into buying a new washer switch all together?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před 5 měsíci

      It sounds like you have to pull the switch out anyway, which is simple. So I would pull it apart and check for signs of electrical shorting. The short may have been caused by a shorted pump, but the fuse should protect from this happening. Strip it down and have look. Good luck and let me know in comments how you get on.

      Update on the situation, I cleaned the connections but the green board beneath is also burnt. When I put everything back together nothing happened when pulling the lever. I'm guessing I am going to have to buy a new washer switch. Thank you for the video and the help you provided, keep up the good work@@pescado99

    I wonder is there way to open rear washer switch? Mine got stuck on and its preventing front wipers from working, also the rear washer pump is probably goner at this point.

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před 7 měsíci

      I've never opened it up, but it can't be more difficult than dismantling the main wiper stalk. Have you tried to spray some silicone spray or CO contact cleaner in there to dislodge any stuck parts?

    What do you think the issue is if the pump works for the back window but not when I do the front? Do you know if there are separate fuses for the front and back or maybe it's the switch? Cheers

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem

      Actually not sure how the back is plumbed up. In my Clio there is just the one pump. Do you hear the pump running for the front as well as for the back washer? There's just one fuse.

  • @fluorke

    I just replaced my pump for a new one, it don't cost that much. Do you know how to fix the headlight washers? Mine doesn't work on one side but I can hear the motor spinning.

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  Před rokem

      I don't have those (Aussie delivered car). Suggest you run some descale through them - check simple things first. Note they (normally) have a tiny check valve in them so water doesn't drain out, so water/descale solution has to go from the reservoir side to the outlet side, not the other way around.
