RIP one hell of a drummer gone to soon.
I'm gonna miss this man so much.
Agreed. Sean Reinert, Neil Peart and Reid Miller from Corrosion of Comformity. Sad news...
Fuk dude I just turned on the phone to listen some Death and when I scroll down to the comment section I saw that he died! I dont even know what to say...
Richard Hardman what was the cause of death
@@jackko21 Aortic Rupture and Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease
Rest in peace, Sean. These are hard times. Hug everyone.
No hugging
Honest, humble, polite, open-minded and passionate about music. The world is a worse place without you, Sean Reinert. Rest in peace.
Sean was my teacher during the early Cynic days. He introduced me to Vinnie Colaiuta’s albums. Humble and cool dude. He changed my world and set the foundation for my drumming. One of two teachers that were able to teach me because of how advanced I was starting out. I was blessed to have this Legend come to my home and change my life with his knowledge.
Im sorry for your loss. RIP Sean Reinert 💔
I would have given anything for one lesson from him, you lucky soul
The EliteGeek He was the best! I played bass for Cynic and I used to live at the warehouse In Kendall.
I was also the bassist for Atheist at the time Tony had joined Pestilence at the time.
Fusion was his passion.
So sad.
Darren
Very nice man and amazing player. Glad I met him
@@qstaratma9096 did you tour with Athiest because I may have met you.
Can’t believe he is gone. Such a beautiful, total musician. He will be missed. ❤️
Same here, Lisa. Best of the best in all regards imo.
Sean's drumming on "Human" is something to behold. How he was able to play with so much colour and groove to his playing, at such high speed was incredible. And I love what he says about playing what is right for the song. Such a flexible and selfless musician. R.I.P.
At only 19 years of age at the time as well, incredible! Sean changed my life as a drummer, RIP
The end of this interview, it makes you feel so nostalgic, because Sean was an awesome person, and plus even being so great at what he gave to music in general, he gets very much like if he was your best friend, sharing a part of his experiences in music, life, and getting so emotional as well, you may rest in peace Sean, such an inspirational musician!!!!!
Fully agree CarloS 🤘❤
I believe he was killed off, for his ways of believing the monsters in the government and decided to speak out against mind control.
This dude is one of the most underrated drummers in metal or maybe just in music period. The drums on cynics traces in air are so tasteful, groovey and dynamic.
He just died :((((((((((((
My friend... It's not traces in air, it's "traced", if you're gonna praise somebody for their work at least get the title correctly. Also, ever hear Focus?
@@jesterman1302seeing how the S and D keys are neighbours I’d bet on it being a typo
Really saddened to hear of his passing. Legendary drummer.
His work on the Death record changed everything for me. I was 13 and suddenly the options in heavy music seemed to be without limit. Such a great player!
R.I.P. Him and Sean Malone.
One of the most influential Bass/drum sections in prog.
I remember sitting in the back when this very episode was filmed. Great memories ❤️
Your work with Cynic changed my life forever. Thank you and RIP Maestro
RIP brother. You're the sole reason why I picked up drumming instead of playing other instruments. You're really one of a kind drummer, a trendsetter and a legend. Rest in power my friend... for you'll be sorely missed by millions of your fans in millennia to come.
In loving memory of Sean Landon Reinert (1971-2020)
I will never watch this and feel the same.. RIP Sean❤️
He mentioned Neil a few times. Who would have known they would die almost at the same time of this year. Two legends of drumming gone. Rest in peace, masters of percussion.
TRUTH!
2020 is off to a bad start. Funny he mentions Neil Peart here a few times and now in 2020, both Neil and Sean pass away weeks apart. R.I.P. Sean and Neil.
His playing is so beautiful
R.i.p
Rip. Dude was revolutionary with his jazzy chops in metal and never got the recognition he deserved.
The drumming on Death Human absolutely changed the landscape of drumming for metal from there on out. Flat out. So far ahead of its time.
Sean also drums on a Gruesome track called Fragments of Psyche and you can just tell it's him. Like that song wouldn't nearly have the personality it has without Sean on the kit. He's amazing.
Its part of the reason why human is top death metal albums of all time literally. How many dm albums can you say that when it comes to the drumming?
I would argue that without Death's Human and Cynic's Focus, metal as it is today would not exist.
@@shevanel92 it wouldn't be Tomas haake or any of the Progressive Kids out there!!
His drumming on Human is inhuman!
His drumming is 100% human, a machine will NEVER plays like him, if you know what i mean..
There wasn't really a drummer in metal quite like him at that time. That album is just as killer today as it ever was.
Has an extra special place in my heart. Got to hear it in Morrisound studios right before it came out.
No it's SUPERHUMAN
This guy literally was at the SPEARHEAD of techniques and playing that would change extreme metal....he was also at the spearhead of extreme metal at its first off time count in.....this guy IS METAL HISTORY!!
RIP Sean. You and Neil will have a lot to talk about.
TRUUUUTH!
RIP Sean Reinert. This interview is at the same time awesome and heartbreaking. You were a fantastic drummer, and to have your insight and behind-the-scenes look at your approach is priceless. Thank you for everything.
RIP sir. You changed drumming forever with Cynic's Focus
We’ll miss you Sean. One of the greats.
Human in my own opinion is the best Death album
+Gustavo Oliveira I desagree with such fury that I almost lose concentration! _The Sound Of Perseverance_ is the best one!!! By far!!!
+MikeVonDoom I really like TSoP as well, but human is like a fusion between cynic and death, that's the magic of that album
Human ist the best Death Metal Album ever
yep, absolutely
I love Death's version of Painkiller (more than the original), and the drums are a big part of the why....Cynic's album is just beyond words awesome....
Rest in peace, dear Sean. Your playing was gigantic, inspiring, way ahead of your time. You'll be greatly missed. Infinite love for you, wherever you are.
What a wonderful guy, never met him, but I miss his contributions to music. A true genius.
sean fuckin` reinert you were the best drummer i have ever heard, not just from a technical point but from the composition side you were and still are a constant inspiration, i don´t even play drums but who cares a shit, this guy makes anyone with some minimal apreciation for music love him and love his music.
RIP Sean.... gone all too soon.... one of my heroes and a foundational piece of this establishment we call modern metal...
Damn that was a loud ass clap..
blrsycth 🤣
Sean Reinert's theory of music is spot on! Plus, his conscious understanding of "playing for the music" and not being the fastest drummer around is so refreshing to hear from a drummer that could do just that. I love his mind
Totally shocked of his loss. What a great personality and distinctive drummer. Very sad. You’ll be missed for many :(.
for me, my favorite drumwork from sean was with gordian knot. the best style of drumming for me. rest in peace, sean. thanks for your contribution to music.
RIP to a great drummer and what seemed to me like a great human.
Recap Jack pun?
Golden grillson what do us mean??
Recap Jack because of the Death album he played on is named human.
The way Sean texturizes his drum playing is outstanding and unique. Genius.
Reminds me of Mark Zonder
zonder is a fucking monster also¡¡
Incredible drummer and musician. Seems like a genuinely down-to-earth guy, too! I hope Cynic continues to make great albums.
A great legend. You left a great LEGACY behind. We'll always remember you. Thanks for evreything. R.I.P. Sean! 😢👏😢
One of my favorite drummers and MAN he got BIG!
RIP brother. Your music on human totally changed the way I look at bass.
Respect.
The star 🌟 I'm following in the night.. Thanks for all Sean..
human was a paradigm shift in death metal drumming
Sean is an inspiration. His drumming and his character.
My favourite drummer ever. Got to meet him once in Gothenburg. Nice guy. Sean will be missed greatly.
Rest in peace Sean ❤
Rip Genius. Such a great musician, what a heavy loss. Le concert de Cynic à Paris au Nouveau Casino en 2010 restera gravé à vie. Merci.
R.I.P. man. Amazing drummer and more so, an amazing soul/person.
Great musician, one of my heroes.
This is a guy who plays on a whole other level. Not necessarily an influence of mine, but holy shit the level of technique, knowledge, and chops that he possesses is tremendous.
Yeah, I remember hearing the first song off Death Human at a friend's house. I got back into my car, went to the nearest record store, and bought the CD..Amazing album and Sean's contribution was just amazing. And I missed the fucking gig. I regret that. I did see Death with Gene though.
Great unsung hero in the Metal drumming community, but you know what? He loved and enjoyed his craft. R.I.P.
I remember when I first heard this guy. It was in 1992, and my band had finished soundchecking at the Escape club in Salisbury, Massachusetts. The sound guy started playing this insanely fast song over the pa system. The fastest double bass drumming that I ever heard, but with a fusion twist over the top. It was the death song flattening of emotions. I instantly was a fan of this mans playing. The way he combined insane jazz fusion chops over machine gun double bass, whether it was 16th notes,16th note triplets, he delivered a truly breathtaking performance. And, doing it at 19 or 20 years of age makes it even more jaw dropping. Sean, your skills are missed, but will always be remembered.
Very genuine and humble, gone too soon. Will check out all his work.
Sean was an amazing musician. Nobody can play the drums like him.
so sad he's gone! Time to replay with Chuck RIP
This guy got to play on the most incredible technical death metal record of all time. And at 19 years old. He will always be remembered for bring a completely over the top player.
Dude was like a Vikings with his hair in a ponytail when he toured for human.!
He’s also right about blast beats and I absolutely love them...
However his attention to detail on that record is phenomenal.....
R.I.P
Was lucky enough to see Cynic play a bunch of times locally here in South Florida back in the day. They were always amazing live. Sean was a true musician. One of a kind. He will be missed. RIP, brother.
RIP Sean, thank you for all !!!!!!

Rest easy, master Reinert.
RIP. One of thr greats.
Rest in peace! Truly a fantastic drummer!
Rest in peace you beautiful man
What a cool fucken guy, just smart and chill, talented yet humble. Christ, just that last one is a rare quality, but seems to be something all the truly great guys share.
RIP brother.
Incredible musician. I saw Cynic in the early 90's in a Jersey Shore club and they were on another planet talented. After the show I shook Sean's hand and told my guitar player I was going home to throw my drums away because his playing was light years ahead of mine. Focus is still one of my favorite albums.
Thanks for the stooooory, maaaan!
RIP... such a cool dude
RIP... One of the greatest...its a sad day
Rest in Peace Sean 😭
Rip Sean.. you will be greatly missed
What a thorough professional and such interesting perspectives. Go Sean!
I am not surprised that he mentioned Neil Peart first. Such an awful loss to lose Neil and Sean this month.
This interview resonates so much with my upbringing on drumming. Thank you for sharing.
I cant believe it...R.I.P I wish I had met you at least once :_(
Glad I met you. Rest in peace man.
Almost 5 years gone at this point but Focus will always be on my regular rotation. My favorite drummer of all time.
great interview, interesting questions. Sean certainly deserves a 20min interview
Rest in peace! One of the most innovative drummers the world ever saw.....
A true master of his art...beautiful @!
RIP SEAN YOU WILL BE MISSED AND YOUI PASSED TOO YOUNG.
R.I.P. Sean...
he was a master at what he did.
RIP man you will be missed.
RIP Sean. He was such a good drummer.
wow...lots of humility in him.....good soul. RIP Sean.....😞
Very sad to learn that he passed away recently. One of my favourite drummers ever.
Fantastic interview!
Rest in Peace Sean!!
RIP Sean & Neil :-(
RIP; amazing drummer.
I love this interview. Return to it often.
Hey Seth, thank you!!!
this shooting was and is very dear to me. Sean is one of my main influences and it was such a struggle to get this done for a number of reasons: crazy difficulties, odd circumstances, physical demands and what have you. I learned a lot while doing this episode, not just about Sean or drumming but about how I should proceed with this programme.
@@drumtalkofficial thats amazing
Rest in Peace brother.
thx for your comment Santi! 🙏
Legend. RIP.
