TVRM Cab Ride Via Southern 4501 Memorial Day

A weekend three years in the making found us at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee Memorial Day 2023. My son and I had plans to get a cab ride during the 2020 season in Southern 630's cab, but this wasn't to be due to the global COVID-19 virus. Three years later, we finally brought that plan to reality and this video documents my sons unforgettable belated birthday present. Southern Railway 4501 is the star locomotive for TVRM's Missionary Ridge Local which covers 6 miles of former Southern Railway right-of-way, and before that, the East Tennessee Virginia & Georgia Railway, crossing over 3 bridges, and a tunnel that dates back to 1858. Tyler Chipman, the fireman/engineer and a longtime member of TVRM explained that the whistle was changed out for a Virginian & Northwestern 3 chime that came off of engine number 25 for the weekend because he said "I wanted something different."

I rode behind her Saturday at Missionary Ridge. First time. I've chased the loco from the outside Chickamauga, Rock Spring to Summerville...but I've only ridden behind 630 as a passenger.
