I remember vividly, a few days before my Nana passed, she was sitting up in her bed and my Mom came in to tell her the priest was coming in to say some final prayers. She asked me to get her lipstick from her bathroom and she put it on for the last time. :)
I love this. Thank you for sharing. The previous generations didn't even sit on their porch without lipstick. I remember that no matter how poor they were or how old they were, a woman always had a tube of red lipstick. :)

If my house was burning I would grab my lipstick and apply it while I was sitting on the curb waiting for the fire department to arrive. Thanks for this very enjoyable chat. I was watching this again with my wife and in honestly struck by how many similarities she found between us 🥰 when you slip into Italian it feels like being home which is no longer a place for me but a time and you are so right about some places and people from Italy being stuck in time! I was raised in this tiny village in Piemonte in the 90s but it might very well have been the 50s and I guess being removed from more modern environment allowed it to keep traditions in a way, in both good and bad unfortunately and being the only mixed race child there I really felt that. I didn't consider myself a d expert in makeup but when you brought up russiand red and rouge noir my wife went "you need to use your ruby woo more" and so maybe I am a bit more into it than I thought 😅 I loved to see il tuo mazzo di tarocchi! Because I started practice here in the UK I mostly have Rider waite smith decks but I really need to get myself one of the Italian or Marseilles ones I used to see as a child because I have a feeling that even if it's supposed to be the same thing, the Bagatto and the magician, o il matto and the fool, or even the high priestess and la papessa are not quite exactly the same thing. I honestly cannot put in words what an amazingly serendipitous thing has been to find you and realised that we knew each other from beflre because of course! It makes perfect sense. And you really being me a feel of "home" that I haven't felt in a long time so truly thank you Grace. I hope you do another q&a soon!
I'm a new subscriber... Just joined after watching your video about your Sybil Leek book collection that came up in my You Tube feed a few nights ago. You're so down to earth, love it. Plus your makeup looks great 🤗 I'm a few years years older than you so I feel that I can relate to the times that we grew up in, and red lipstick rocks 😊 That and shades of red nail polish, it's def a power color. I got into needlework because of my maternal grandmother ( needlepoint) and a caretaker when I was a preteen. Haven't attempted crochet but my daughter is excellent at it. I enjoyed Italian Fold Magic so much, and I agree, it is one of the best metaphysical books I’ve read. It has so much more to offer than many other witchcraft books that are published lately. You are the only author that I’ve ever looked up to see if they’ve got more books to read (which is how I found your channel), and the fact that you live in BC is very cool too (since I live here as well).

Actually, love your signature look! Always wanted to wear red lipstick like my Mom did in the late 50's & 60's, & I thought she was so pretty! The love of my later life didn't like me to wear makeup 😢, so I didn't for years. Maybe I will again? But didn't wear red, because it didn't look good on me.

So fascinating to listen to. I'm Italian. Live in the UK. Brought up by my Italian grandmother. Strict Catholic rules. Especially when it came to boys... if I even thought of having sex before marriage apparently my arms and legs would drop off.. there's an endless list.....❤
As one w formerly Catholic relatives & friends (Italian, Irish, etc.), yes. I am lucky - from outside, I love all the saints business, etc. and your cultural traditions, but no, I could never buy into the theology. The devotion yes, heavy rules no.
I think the reason for the red lipstick question has to do with Natalia Tarot shrink video about the story of your red lipstick. she talks about empowerment and when did we really feel ready to wear one. it is worthy to have a look. xx
