    They fired at the completely wrong times but hey, still the best cannon sound to an 1812 Overture on CZcams :)

    • @somedubmetakeshi7960
      @somedubmetakeshi7960 Před 3 lety +15

      To be fair, I think in the original they were fired relatively randomly to simulate a real battle. Not sure, don't quote me on that.

      @@somedubmetakeshi7960 i think it was because in Tchaikovsky's time, cannons aren't as reliable as they are now, hence they dont fire at the same time

    • @nochannel1q2321
      @nochannel1q2321 Před 2 lety +7

      The performances I've seen there's always a signal triggered that turns on an indicator light to indicate when to fire to be on beat. The guys firing have enough going with keeping their guns firing at a fast enough pace so they're supposed to receive a visual indicator from the conductor so when it comes the guy who fires just has to see a flash of light in peripheral vision and then fire. I think they often get delayed because the officer's in command get nervous and introduce themselves into there and they receive the visual signal and then give an order to fire and it fucks u the timing. Anyone remember when Russia (I think?) used a battleship to do one?

    • @slavish_superiority
      @slavish_superiority Před 2 lety +2

      With modern audio technology, it is not difficult to be accurate, just use the MIDI signal to make the program in advance. What you hear with wrong times, probably because of the delay of outdoor environment. For example, the snare drum rhythm in this video is not accurate .

    • @nochannel1q2321
      @nochannel1q2321 Před 2 lety

      @@slavish_superiority I think even if they were going off a MIDI indicator there'd be a human delay because the commander needs to see the indicator then issue the command to fire, then the teams of a cannon would actually fire and begin reloading. I think they'd do better to have someone measure how long it takes from the signal being received to the sound being triggered and then alter the signalling from the conductor or MIDI with that delay in mind to hone in closer to the actual timing.
