In this song lesson, I will teach you the bass part to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". This part is fairly simple except for the chorus where the bass also plays the horn line. - Hudba
That fret buzz is maddening
It usually doesn't come through the amp.
Just want to say you have taught me more than any of the fancy bass sites. I think you’re style of teaching allows me to get real basic and then expand as any musician begins to “own the song’ which can’t be rushed. I’m trying to say thank you brother you’ve made a difference in my life.
I'm a literal beginner, i dont even know if i'm supposed to even try to play songs like this one, but you broke it down so well, simple, now i'm actually doing pretty well.
Thank you.
Yeah it helped me too😁
m8 try playing absolutely everything and learn your scales they will help you 🙂
I wish more videos would take their time to explain the lines and riffs to more tunes like this does. I've been playing it wrong for years
You're my go-to man now for learning songs, very impressed with your patience and care in your presentation, at last!
great lesson! love that after you explained everything (which was really clear), then talked about how one can improvise
Great; thank you. I had exactly 10 minutes to learn this song and get to a practice. Thanks to you, Done.
Man this is a super great lesson, especially the explanation of swing, exactly what I was struggling with half way through, and all the minor pentatonic fills.
Great lesson! Thank you, very clear instructions, and I like the way you're able to allow the student learn the soul, feel to this totally awesome song!
Great great video!!!! I needed this for a gig and in about 10 minutes you had me all set. Much love!!!!
Thank-you for making this. Really easy to learn from your instruction.
Thanks for this!, for breaking it down and playing it slowly and telling us the notes! Thanks! 🙂
Learning this song for my band, found so many different tabs online. Decided to stick with this one!
I wish every tutorial was as well presented as this one. A+++
Thank you for posting this, I found it incredibly useful.
Great lesson, Well built up everything can be easily followed. Thanks from Rotterdam the Netherlands
Heyy man eerlijke vraag ik ben net een maand begonnen ben een soort van opweg weet jij wat goede oefeningen voor een goede rechter en linker hand techniek??
I’m a player. Keys n bass. I appreciate your break downs of the song parts. 👍👍👍
thank god someone showed me how to play this song correctly. THANK YOU
Great Video.
A lot of people can do things, but it takes a professional to transfer knowledge.
Thank you, and keep making videos!!!
you are a great teacher and have saved me a lot of time. Thank you
your bass sounds awesome and great tutorial!
I need to play this song for music class and I didn't understand my music sheet at all, but thanks to this video I finally get it, thanks!
Thanks so much for the POI on this tune!
It’s unfortunate that this channel gets so much attention to guitars and ukulele and only crickets for us bassists. This instructor is one of the best with breaking down songs and articulating the (“theory”) musicians’ basic fundamentals of why we are playing the notes and how they’re supposed to be played.
John, thanks for the compliment! Ashley is a great teacher for the reasons you mentioned above. Seems few are interested in the theory but it really is key especially for bass. You can find all of Ashley;s lessons at csbassacademy.com
Excellent presentation. Many thanks.
Great

Great lesson friend
Well done Keep er simple with slow repeats. Even I can learn. Terry
Nice and clear!
great lesson thanks
Spot on! Thank you so much!
Nice lesson. Think I got it first listen but it's similar to a lot of blues in E which i've fluffed around with so....yeah.
Good lesson.
Great thanks
excelente de las mejores explicaciones que he visto!
I'm not a fender guy, but thats a pretty sweet bass. Love the tone
many thanks.
great lesson, thank you. It would have been good to hear you play it with the song too...
Very clear and helpful. Thank you. Please lift the action a little.
Great video...
Thanks Anthony! Please consider subscribing as we plan on posting a lot more great content this year
This is one of the songs 5 string actually comes in handy. Agree tho most bands don’t wanna swap instruments or retune.
Great tutorial, and love the 3-camera approach. Sounds like your bass could use new frets...
I love this lesson! Too many tabs out there that I just could not follow. This lesson made it make sense and while I have a long way to go speed wise, I can do this! Any chance anyone has this tab’d ?? I tried, but could not match it up to the others and thus am not sure.
Agreed, it's hard to hear the bassline on the original and I looked at a dozen tabs and they are all different...
Merci! on comprend très bien, même sans parler Anglais!
Can you do the cover of Beck Bogart and Appice's cover?
I bought i 5 string because i can access e flat in standard
Does he have a lesson on the Jeffersons theme song? I’m a beginner 🫨🎸
What bass is that and what wood is the body
If you listen the original song, the bass don't reproduce the clarinet line, in fact
An old dog (me) learns an old trick. Thanks!
FRED DURST !!
having 3 cameras is Ace
thanks, I've playing wrong for so many years........oh well, back to the ear training programme,
Why there is no sound in this video?
sounds like bass parts for SEINFELD . . . hah @the licks
7:00
I thought my strings buzzed away. Guess its normal.
It's actually eighths not quarters in the beginning. The rest between the notes is what makes the riff that funky
Christian Odenwald No he's correct it is quater notes.
i can't get my p bass to sound like that...!
The bass being used in the video is a Fender Precision bass. Not a Jazz bass.
Не верно снятая партия. Особенно когда бас начинает играть с духовыми, некоторые ноты не верны. Бридж тоже слишком упростили.
Guitar buzzing bro.....
No sound
Wrong notes, not how it was played for either of the lines. This would work with a wedding band, but if you want to really know the part, don’t play this version.
The dude said in the beginning that he was going to show how to play the song in E standard tuning. The recording was done in the key of Eb. Obviously you would drop your tuning a half step to match the recording if that’s your goal. Or you could figure it out by dropping everything a half step which really isn’t necessary
