    Ok guys I’m starting to cry. They didn’t even show off the “Hide-A-Way” headlights!!! They’re so cool!! 235/65 Radial TAs on period correct wheels would set it just right. I replaced all of the wear items front and back suspension and brakes and even with OEM springs those tires on the wider wagon wheels gave it the hunkered down bootlegging look. Awesome. Till my best friend accidentally wrecked it into a tree that didn’t move.

    I had my fathers 68 Galaxie 500 convertible. These cars had lots of rust issues. This one here seems to have some rust hiding. And it has not wheel trim. All trim and anodized are 68 only. This stuff is very hard to find. Believe me I know. I love near Carlise Pa and searched high and low for years to find parts for my dad's old 68 Galaxie. This car is nice but just a driver like mine was.

    It’s Edelbrock not elderbrock. Maybe he says “nucular” instead of nuclear too. Oh well. This one is missing the stainless wheel well trim. Mine is missing the lower rocker stainless- too hard to find and too expensive if I do find some the price is stupid high. Stainless belt moldings are missing on this one.

      Why put tri power just put a Eddy intake and a 750 carb, that's what I did and Eddy heads and 584 cam. 4:11 gears car ran 13.70s with crappy tires was quick. Nice driver, 66 XL Galaxie, heritage burgundy, Cragars I miss it sold it 7 years ago

  • @jts8259

    The interior is not original - the trim was not chrome like that, it had a foil cover. Looks great, but his is not by any means an original car as advertised!

    • @andrewhigdon8346
      @andrewhigdon8346 Před 5 lety

      JT S I had the exact same interior and it did indeed look like chrome when unmolested but also was indeed foil on plastic. I’d say those are reproduction panels cause even in the best conditions there’s no way that foil would look that good. Maybe the camera is flattering the shiny stuff too. Mine also had a dealer installed under dash A/C, which worked, but it’s kind of hard to get a greenhouse station wagon cool.

    • @Braveheartman123
      @Braveheartman123 Před měsícem

      I agree. I have a 68 fastback w 390 all original and my door panels don’t look as “chromed” as that. No way they are from 1968.

    • @almodequindre8601
      @almodequindre8601 Před 3 lety

      It's a beautiful car but you can tell from that crack that there is a lot of Bondo in the lower rocker panels. If I was to buy that car, the first thing I would do is weld in all new sheet metal on the bottom rockers. If you look at the date on the video, it is Apr 2018 so that wasn't in winter but you are right,never bring cars like this out in winter.

    You keep talking about how the car would have been a show quality paint job when it was done. I do not see anything close to a show quality job. There is so much more to even a driver quality paint and body job that is lacking on this car. Just because paint shines up when you polish it don't say shit about a quality job. The very first hood line you showed in this video was a representation of the quality of the work that was done on this car. The first thing I see is a bent piece of chrome fitted over new paint. The trunk lid is about 1/2" higher than the line is suppose to be. Don't hit the lower body panels too hard anywhere you might end up with more of those big bondo cracks. Some if not all of the door cards are missing the right clips and are hanging onto the doors, especially at the bottom. The door seals are in most cases misaligned and not fitted properly and folded back onto itself in various places around the doors. Brand new paint over rust that is already bubbling up through the new paint. I could go on, but I think enough said. The car was thrown back together and has too much lipstick and not enough wrinkle cream. If that is a properly built 390, where is the large cooling resevoir, and a cammed 390, with tri -carbs better have an extra cooling fan with a 180 thermostat, and the auto tranny should have a heavy duty tranny cooler or you'll be re-building the one that is in it real soon again even if it's a C-6 and not a C-4. You can pressure wash, and put a new vacuum regulator, adjust the band wear and then paint it. And it might last for a very long time if you know how to make those adjustments right. You'd swear it was re-built even if it didn't need to be. Funny what scheduled maintenance can do when you actually do the work. Dude, they still have some people who know a few things about these old flivvers. If you don't know what you are talking about don't try to make out that you know more than you actually do know, somebody might call out a big sack of wind.

      I had a 66 XL Galaxie was Heritage Burgundy with a warmed over 390 to 400 and was a Oklahoma car. Black interior was nice, had it 18 years but due to financial issues had to let it go. Been to a few test and tunes and best run was a13.79 @ 98. Bad traction. Ya there's so much filler in this body it needs to be stripped to metal. The exhaust rumble don't sound right, like the motor looks. Mine had a 584-240 Comp cam and non port matched Eddy heads, headers, Flowmasters H pipe with dumps, sht my car sounded tough. Maybe one day I'll get another. The car still exists, it's up in Saginaw Michigan I sold it seven years ago, unless he drove the car in salt he should still have it ok. Hope he didn't take the Cragars off and put ghetto wheels on it smh. VIN I still know by heart, it was built at the now long gone Dallas Ford plant. 6D68Y157641

    That motor should not be moving like that. Hood shaking. Needs motor mounts.

    • @andrewhigdon8346
      @andrewhigdon8346 Před 5 lety

      MAC man that’s the cam man. That mofo is barely running. I love it. I had a 68 LTD and those hinges were a bitch if things got just a little bit out of line. People who close that hood from the side more than a few times will bend those hinges and they are very hard to get right so the hood is flush without having to step up and push down by the cowl. Awesome car. Mine was same color and interior but with the optional extra long roof, wood grain vinyl down the side, and a cool “Magic” tailgate.
      Mine wasn’t that shiny or clean or fast or efficient or free of exhaust fumes or reliable fuel gauge. But none of it mattered with all that character.

    Ugly wheels. Notice the chrome on the lip of the hood. It should be level with the chrome strip on either side. It isn’t.
