    I had a smart mouse a few weeks back, it took three weeks almost to catch it.
    I purchased three live traps two of which were different, £20.00 they cost.
    It wouldn't enter them.
    I built a bean can trap. The mouse entered this and ate the peanut butter many times but I couldn't find a sensitive sweet spot.
    I built a magnetic bottle trap that broke the hinge point when a mouse walked past that point but the mouse never entered it, it had a large enough hole.
    This mouse did not trust anything plastic, probably had been caught before in a plastic trap.
    I went back to my bean can trap, removed an elastic band which allowed more sensitivity for setting.
    Two hours later that darn mouse was released five miles out into the countryside.
    Only one mouse no others. It looked to be possibly pregnant lol.
    One of the traps that I purchased was the same kind I was successful with in a previous house, catching two.
    That mouse cost me £22.00 counting fuel. My daughter and I missed it for a while.
    It was fun trying to catch while on lock down.

    That is a wonderful trap design. The triggering mechanism as far as I am concerned is perfect. I am not sure if the plastic container can hold a gnawing rodent but it can for a time for sure. Thank you for so carefully sharing your design and measurements and important condsiderations.

    • @chrisnotap
      @chrisnotap  Před 4 lety +8

      Thanks for that! Mice need a start point to get a hole chewed to get out. In a smooth plastic container like this there is nowhere for them to get started. I caught 6 mice with this in a row ( over a 6 night period ). They all spent the night in it and there was no chew marks anywhere at all.

    Nice trap bud. Love the channel. I just came across it a few minutes ago and you “ Good Sir ) have earned yourself a little Canadian subscriber.
    A pop can with a piece of straight wire threaded through the pop can. Make an indentation on each side of the can and add peanut butter on one side.
    Place this across a 5 gallon pale with a little water in it. When the rodent steps on the can, the can will spin and drop it in the pail. With the indentation and the peanut butter the can will automatically reset to ( Bait Up ) and is ready for the next one with no resetting required.
