FINALLY! I'm getting down to one of the most Aliper-requested song reviews ever on this channel: Weird Genius' epically viral song "Lathi" from 2020, featuring Sara Fajira on vocals. This song went wild last year on social, spawning a host of covers (see my review of Josephine Alexandra's acoustic cover), remixes, and even its own wildly successful TikTok challenge (#lathichallenge) with over 300 MILLION views of the hashtag.
And it's easy to see why. This song is fantastic, and the video production is so cinematic it leaves you wanting to see the entire movie around it.

She is the last daughter, her full name was Princess Gayatri who had a nick name Lathi Rajapatni that lived in the Majapahit Kingdom in 1350 AD. She always got sadistic treatment from someone that claimed 2 love her. Until beyond the limit of humanity. Now. About lathi challenge. It's about the transformation the main character in the video. From first to the 2nd form. It's not something that can be interpreted to the audience. And it's noting to do with Halloween season.
I love the last Mohicans theme song and the originals.
FYI, those horse puppets re generated from the traditional Javanese attraction, called "Kuda Lumping". I wouldn't say it is showing the conflict with no body.

It's important to know that when we study the history of European music, the introduction of gamelan music in the 1890s was a major revelation to the style and writing of French music in the early 1900s, so there is time spent in the study of 20th century music on the theory of gamelan, and many composers of that time period were influenced by these sounds.

@@rodhiyahardifa3482 perhaps in a future video I can go into more detail. But for now, know that these are nothing more than the names of different arrangements of notes into scales we call "modes."
The Slendro scale in Gamelan instrumental music is a pentatonic scale (five notes to the octave). Although the tuning system is a little different from the Western equal tuning, the basic notes could be described as roughly similar to C D F G A (and C on top). Percussion instruments can't be tuned to other pitches, but vocal and wind instruments can insert other notes into the Slendro scale in performance.
The Phrygian mode in Western music is a scale mode built on the third degree of the major scale. Its character is defined by introducing the flat 2nd degree to what would otherwise just be a minor scale. In simple notes, this means the scale degrees (on white keys) would be E F G A B C D (E). The spaces between these notes (the distance from one to the other) make this scale similar to the relations between notes in the Gamelan Pelog scale.
Slendro is older, and more commonly used in Gamelan because the main instruments are built expressly for it. The Pelog scale tends to be used more in ritual and is usually the sung part of the scale, with the Slendro notes being played on the instruments. There are dozens of variations of each of these scales though, so it's a whole subject in its own right!

By the way, Weird Genius and Alffy Rev featured only a very few traditional instrumental and sounds mostly focusing on Java and Bali. There are thousands more of traditional instruments and cultural practices left unspoken. Hopefully, someday we can have people like you to introduce more of Indonesian original sounds.
