I missed out!
thank you Rich for a no holds barred review, good, honest comment.
Glad you enjoyed it Rob!
I have my Neje Master 2 Plus in the laser tent and you're right no leaks and the blower sucks the air right out. Thanks for the video!
Awesome!
Thank you sir, for your patience and willingness to explain to us all the details related to engraving. At the moment, I don't have a laser / engraver, but I ordered it and am waiting for its delivery. It is an ATOMSTACK A5 Pro + 40W device. Greetings and thanks for your videos !!! Cheers from Croatia (Europe)
You are very welcome!
Another great video Rich. I have the P9 50M (about a month) also and have the same complaints you had. I did use a sticky back and ty-rap to secure the wiring because it move one of my pieces and ruined that job. My next move will be to make something with my 3D printer to put on the screw threads behind the laser to help it tighten smoothly. Other than that, this thing really does a nice job with the projects I've been doing. Of course I have been experimenting with settings before I do a project. Looking forward to your next. Take care.
Thanks Mark! The M50 module is a beast! I love it.
Excellent burn
It's a nice little laser Stuart!
Another great video Rich, But I think your room shrunk just a little bit with the new toy. Will be intresting to see that up and running. I would like to get one of those lasers one day,
Yeah, it's a big girl for sure Ian! But I needed the 24x36 work area. I just got a contract for a pet cemetery to do all of their headstones and they range from 6x12" to 20x32".
Another great Video. I have the P7 M40 and love it, one thing I do hate though is framming ! What would you suggest is th ebest way for framing when doing Pens, coasters etc ? I usually use a reference mark, but this laser module sits so low you can see the fine focus point ?
I have a couple of creative framing videos Andy. Take a look at this old one: czcams.com/video/YpaPV69Eou8/video.html
Great video, helpful to me. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Rich, thank you. Would you say that the P9 is suitable for the beginner and then after gaining experience they would step up?
Yes, absolutely, but then again, they're all suitable for beginners Lex.
thank you so much for the video, I cam by your chanel searching for info of how to use this model, I am still getting difficulties finding where laser will start burning, it is making me a lot of slsses in material due to bad sentering of the burn
Search for my video on framing Mohammed.
Hey Rich, When will you review the New 20+ watt OUTPUT generation of Laser Engravers from Neje 3 MAX and Atomstack A20/S20/X20 ?
I can hardly wait to see those 2022 Models burn thru stuff!
The Neje 3 Max is on the bench. I don't have any of the others yet.
Looks like a good laser for the hobbyist who has never used a laser before. I am a model railroader looking to build occasional structures. If I can cut out walls and windows in 1:48th scale this would be fine. If I can do it on the back covered deck that would be even better. By the way, I hail from Shreveport.
Yup, any diode laser would work for that.
Thx for your video. I bought my first engraver after it ). Bit I can't connect it to mobile app. )
I can't help with that. You'll need to contact the seller.
I do like this one; however, will you be reviewing the Atomstack x20 Pro, at all?
Only if they send me one!
Where did you get the grow box for this video. It seems to work very well for the size of the laser. Great Video. I'm stoked.
You can get one here Jim: amzn.to/3oceHF1
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
Have you had a chance to review the Atomstack X20 20watt (4 6w combined lasers)? Claims it will cut 0.5mm metal - would love your review before i buy. Using the Xtool D1 10w with air assist now - good detail but feel the laser cutting could be better - they have a 20W coming soon too
No, not yet. They're supposed to be sending one but they're on backorder already Michael.
Looking to upgrade mu Ortur Lasermeaster 2, 12 volt. Is this a good match as you speak highly of it. I do have a 12vdc 5 Amp block I could plug into it or the ortur board if required. I learn new stuff with each video.
I assume the Neje 3 diode laser would not work with my LaserMaster 2 12 vdc.
This is worlds above the Ortur 5.5W Merill, and it looks like the same wiring, but I can't say for sure because all the wires on Atomstack modules are black. You might need to test them to see if the pinout is the same, but it should be.
Great job Rich that air scrubber is money. Can it be used to exhaust fumes from spray painting? Thanks for what you do.
Hi John, It probably can but it would take some time to clean a whole room. I have an ozone generator in the shop that removes smells, but you can't be in there while it's working. I set it to run 60 minutes every night. amzn.to/3OdVT0t
My friend got cancer from doing a lot of spray painting in his garage. Get a good respirator
just to many to choose from, I just purchased the Xtool D1 with the 20watt upgrade, now I am wondering if that was the right move.
Thanks for all your very informative videos.
MW
It was...believe me it was. I got the x7 pro before and after 6 weeks i ordered the D1, because it is the way more better machine. you will absolutely not regret it in any way.
@@Lomaxxx
My only complaint is that last night they released the rotary pro, had I known that I would have waited a week to get it instead of the one that came with it.
My xtool is out for delivery as we speak.
Thanks for the input.
MW
You'll be happy with the D1 Mike!
Agreed
Pretty sure the rotary comes with all of them? Could be wrong.
I currently have a DYI laser with a 6 Watt Chinese laser module and am looking to upgrade. Which 10 watt module do you recommend? Love your videos BTW.
Well, my favorite module has been the Neje A40640 for the last 8 months and still is.
@Lo Yuen You always want the smallest dot possible. If you want to enlarge it, you just defocus it.
Hi! Can it cut through transparent and transparent colored acrylic without a paper or matte cover over the surface? I have acrylic sheets in my country, but they’re usually covered with a thin layer of a transparent plastic film…
No, diode lasers are on the 455nm wavelength, so light passes right through it. No diode can cut clear acrylic. You need a Co2 to do that.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy would it etch say 0.5mm into black acrylic ?
Which would you choose between this one and the 50w x7
Don't have an X7 so I don't know. Pretty sure they're both 10W modules.
How good with this work on gun slides and handles
Better to use a fiber or you might be sorry Tony!
Atomstack p9 VS xtool D1 VS comgrow 10w? All the same or is one better then the other? Lening towards the 10w pakkage deal though
I would say that's probably a good decision Ron.
What version of light burn do I need? Or do you recommend a different program?
The version of Lightburn is determined by your machine. The Gcode for a diode, DSP for Co2, etc. Descriptions are on the Lightburn website store. And no, I would never recommend anything but.
My diy mount for my Z1 (over on Cults) works great for adjusting Z.
Is this laser truly "most powerful" or just on par w/ other 10W output laser heads?
On the Atomstack?
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy no clue how that one mounts. Could possibly be adapted tho.
how does it work on metals the site says it can cut and engrave metal also what software do you use?
It can only anneal metal.
Great Video. Is there a chance to get your testcard file? ;) Thanks
Downloads are in my free forum. Link in the description.
maybe a pet laser pointer would help see the smoke/airflow better at the end of the video
And I have one too! Good idea!
How do you think this would work on a granite rock? I'm looking for something with a frame that would allow me to cut a memorial into a natural stone. I'll probably flatten one side off and bury it in a box with sand to get a flat surface on which to set an etcher. Would this be capable of cutting durable text and perhaps images into a granite rock?
Hi Scott. These aren't meant for that, and while they can etch most stones, you won't be cutting anything. Durable text? Not with a diode laser....
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy hmmm, anything affordable in a carbon or other laser that could etch stone? Part of the reason I was looking at the diodes was the compactness and portability. Anything in an enclosed case is probably not going to be usable on a natural stone as it wouldn't fit in the enclosure!
@@scottwood9181 Well Co2 lasers come in all sizes, up to 5' x 10'. But for what you're talking about, like cemetery stones, most people use a modular Co2 that they bring out to the jobsite in a trailer, and have a lift table for the stones. Check out AP Laser, they make modular lasers.
I have just bought the ATOMSTACK A5 PRO laser engraver. Have downloaded the Laser GRBL v4.8.0 software and when I open it its window shows Port and Speed, etc. In the Port square, it shows COM, but the manufacturer has sent me a USB cable. I open the Device Manager and I only have a USB port. How can I add USB to the GRBL PORT?
PS. Which is better to use, Laser GRBL or Light burn?
Greetings from Greece.
Hi Stavros, when you open LaserGRBL, click Tools --> Install CH340 driver. Without the driver, your computer won't recognize the USB. And I only use Lightburn.
I have already done this, and...but let me tell you a funny thing. At first, I downloaded the GRBL software and installed the CH340 driver. As I wrote before, the Port square showed only COM and the machine did not communicate with the laptop. So, I deleted the LaserGRBL software, and I installed the LightBurn, where I could find the USB3. So far, so good. For some reason, though, I had to delete the LightBurn and re-install it. Now, the newly installed LightBurn does non show USB but only COM, and, believe it or not, it works, although the connection between the Atomstack and the laptop is via USB cable. Isn't it funny, weird?
@@stavroshois No, a USB is a communication port.
Did you indicate this was a 50w diode laser or was this in input watts?
There's no such thing as a 50W diode laser Joel. There are 5W, 10W & a 20W quad diode laser coming soon.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy got it, thanks. I must have heard wrong.
Time for a larger laser room :)
You can say that again! 🤪
Another good un 👍🇬🇧👍
Thank you Tony! Cheers!
I have a question, why is my P9 immediately after turning on in the burning mode? I shut it down after 2-3 seconds but it has burned my table without a warning. I was about to turn it on and install everything. Is it faulty or am I doing something wrong? I have tried several times but it starts and burns right away.
Try setting $32=0 in the console.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy It stopped acting crazy. Now in Lightburn it moves but don't burn (no diode). All values in the console are as they should be, speed and power correct. I'm on Mac. Truly low quality device with incomplete instructions and shady manufacturer.
@@DrHumorous Try using another USB cable, or unplugging the one you have from both ends and re-plugging it. Also a computer restart might help. I have never had a problem with Atomstack.
I would like to look at any free Android software before I buy the m50. Any available? Thanks
I don't know Mark, apps are a waste of time with lasers, so I don't use them.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy ok, so you dont recommend printing from the phone, if you are portable?
which one is best for metal etching or thin metal cutting
A fiber laser Jason.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks
But thpse fibers ones are not cheaper like these ortur or atomstack ones
Correct?
@@Yukam1912 Nope, but that's what you need for metals if you want to be serious.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy ok thanks
Is it worth the buy ?
I think so.
I love your videos man, really and they are very informative for any user. But this video looks a little bit "paid for good review". No offense, but you serious calling this a perfect burn at 13:58 ? Corners are very blurrish, no sharp edges, way overburned. Dont get me wrong, because written words can sometimes submit the wrong emotion. I mean that absolutely no offensiv, but also the slate looks like mine, when i run with to much power over it.
Absolutely not paid! In fact, I give these away, so they wind up costing me $30-40 to do a review! You gotta remember, this was the first use, testing to eventually dial it in. I thought it did very well. And I love the M40, M50 modules. Awesome spot size and great power. Did you stay for the good, bad and the ugly?
