Everyone that understands boxing knew that Sean was going to win. Sean is one of the best defensive strikers that MMA has ever seen. The only reason people wrote him off is because he got countered by the most powerful counter-striker in the UFC; Alex Perreira.

Sean’s biggest intangible is that he shows up in the biggest moments. Not feeling too hot about putting money on DDP after watching this, can’t lie.
Like when he fought Alex Pereira? He showed up for that to get knocked out. What about Cannonier? Sean is a great fighter obviously but DDP is severely underrated. Strickland has more experience but also has a lot more losses.

Izzy underestimated him far too much but it’s understandable, be in his shoes , your last fight was knocking out cold freaking Pereira, his life long rival, a 6’4 monster that can probably compete in heavyweight. Izzy thought he was untouchable but it doesn’t work like that.

Izzy looked gassed and out of breath at the end of the fight. Probably tips to the stomach + low kick blocks+ Sean s pressure + knockdown made him look like that. His quads were sore as heck he couldn’t lift a leg to kick properly!
Sean has great defense and it's not only really frustrating if all your attacks get blocked but also very exhausting
I think the knockdown in the first round put him on his skates the rest of the fight and its tiring fighting off the back foot.
Not a fan at all of Izzy but it's incredibly impressive that he never got knocked out in the UFC.

The only thing I wish would've gone different in this fight is to have Strickland start walking Izzy down, trash-talking the whole way, starting about the 4th round. Or the beginning of the 5th. Damn, that crowd got HYPED when he started with that.
