She seemed healthy and was friendly when I shot this last year. I was really surprised to learn that she died a couple days ago. She will indeed be missed.
I'm 59 and still watch this movie. It was such a blessing to watch and listen to. I enjoy all the actors in their different roles. Loved it and still love it.
I'm glad I was able to record this, as Heather Menzies-Urich died a little more than a year later. Their recollections of life on the set were really charming.
Chamian Carr (Liesl) was the oldest cast member of the 7 von Trapp kids in the movie, and Heather Menzie (Louisa) was the second oldest. Both have respectively passed away somewhat before their time. Nicholas Hammond (Freidrich) is the third oldest cast member, followed by Duane Chase (Kurt). Kind of sad that most of them are seniors getting to the end of their lifespans.
Both Heather and Nicholas seemed hale and hearty when I shot this in 2016, but Heather died about two years later. I'm glad that I was able to record this for fans of the film.
