- The Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship will close out its season in 2021 from the dirt gold and amidst the mighty Redwoods of Skyline Rotorua Gravity Park.
New Zealand’s grand master of the discipline, Kelly McGarry, and his building partner, Tom Hey, designed and built one of the best slopestyle courses in the world before McGarry passed away in 2016. The event was renamed in his honour.
The Rotorua event is a special one for many reasons. Like every Crankworx Slopestyle, it is the marquee event of the festival, bringing together the elite of the discipline eager to prove themselves and start their season off with a bang.
Crankworx returns to the southern hemisphere for another exciting edition of the Rotorua mountain bike festival. In the grand finale of the Crankworx World Tour, champions will be decided, as Rotorua continues its legacy as one of the most exciting riding venues on Earth.

I almost screamed (not in excitement, either) when I saw who was in the commentary box; let's hope things look a little different in 2022.

Yes Emil's technical as hell with all the opposites and stuff, but Nicholi's runs are just so much more fun to watch in my opinion, love the feeling of aggressiveness and energy that he brings like no other

@@frostbitepokin9520 Emil is more technical than just throwing the same regular spins . Way better competition run . I'm sure both are great just having fun , but from a judges perspective , Emil easily tops it . Especially after being out .
@@ellocalcrew613 you cant discount the his spins though, they are high risk and highly difficult. both insanely good riders with different styles at the end of the day.
@@sizzleslider4334 Can't discount Nicolai's runs at all, but Emil won that fairly. He's a consummate contest rider and his technicality won the day. He's also been getting amazing amplitude this year, really popping of the lips, something that sometimes gets lost amidst the subtleties of some of his combos.

59:00 where they mention the twister and how the judges have seen that it does not hold that value anymore, but look back at today and before and Emil does similar runs all the time. yes there fire but i think a twister is just as tech as anything he pulled. particularly this year 2023 Dawid pulled a massive run the 2nd stop of 2023 adding variations to the twister and hard oppo tricks and only got 2nd!!!! those who watch religiously will know what i am talking about!!!

His first run was already the best he could do with the limited training I guess😅 It was a hella sick run though! Mega stoked for him🤘
He left everything out there on the course with his first run, which was an utter banger from him, after his snapped crank at BC. He did much better than I expected him too, and maybe better than he expected himself to do? It was a good result, and he walks away uninjured with a 4th. It's not too shabby.

I think it was nice for a change Cam and the others get supeeeer excited from even the most casual runs so it takes a bit off the real good ones from EMJ, Rogatkin, Bringer etc.

Have to agree here after rewatching the runs. Nicholi's run is just intense from start to finish. While I know oppo tricks score well I feel he gets marked down on crazy tricks no one else really pulls off just because he has had them dialled for ages.

I don't understand why Emil always scores so much higher than Regatkin. His run is not any better. They should be much closer together on the scoreboard. The triple oppo wasn't even clean and he cased the double whip.

Agreed, I've heard better more enthusiastic commentary at cricket matches, this is extreme sport but no crazy hype, rob Warner should of been doing this, could of done it from home 🙃

You clearly don't do slopestyle, Nikolai is known as a "spin to win" rider whereas Emil can do lots of technically difficult tricks that don't solely involve hucking off lips and hoping to land. If an oppo tailwhip was half as hard as it is, it would be twice as hard as you think it is. If anything the judges have been getting better as they now judge technical tricks fairly against spin based tricks
