      You clearly don't understand the implications. Those tanks represent the side-effects of ARI becoming permanent due to Norman no longer taking the drugs that counter it. The only difference is it's less direct than a flat-out fatal overdose. This one is showing ARI bleeding into his reality - he will eventually devolve into an incurable paranoid-schizophrenic with psychotic episodes due to continued use of ARI without the drugs to stop brain-damage.

    Actually, Case Closed isn't that bad of an ending as people think it is. Remember when Norman had hallucinations of a forest completely overwriting The room he's in? Well, now the only thing wrong are these miniature tanks. His problems are actually getting less severe.

      You've got it in reverse. Those tanks represent the brain-damaging effect of ARI now becoming permanent. This is due to him no longer using the drugs which counter-act ARI's side-effects, hence he's now starting to see things like digital tanks even in the real world WITHOUT the glasses even being on. I don't know how anyone can even think for a second this is hopeful in any way. He will devolve into an incurable paranoid-schizophrenic with psychotic episodes.

      I get the feeling people regard endings 'sucky' if they don't involve rainbows, unicorns and happiness. There's nothing wrong with his endings - in-fact, they seem to be the most varied of the characters, which is testament to his popularity. What more did people expect from a guy battling drug addiction, utilizing technology that can cause brain damage, and works in very dangerous profession? People like that don't tend to get happy endings - be happy that he at least has one.

  • @abelgtrzrt9221
    @abelgtrzrt9221 Před 8 lety +427

    People dont seem to understand Jayden endings, so im going to try to explain it the best way possible (Beware, my english is not perfect)
    ARI is like a controlled schizoprenia. It makes possible to imagine things that arent real like they were actually real, same as a psicotic episode does, but controlled. The thing is that with time, jayden starts to suffer a self induced schizoprenia that he cant control. So, he uses an antipsychotic (triptocaine) to stop this uncontrolled psychotic episode. Problem is, tripto causes addiction.
    The endings explanation is like this:
    -Jayden stops using ari and tripto, and so ends his schizoprenia, and lives in the real world.
    -Jayden uses both ari and tripto, and he dies from a overdose.(numerous tripto vials in the floor)
    -Jayden uses Ari, but not tripto, and develops a full wild schizoprenia, and starts having psychotic episodes.
    -Blake uses ari, and sees jayden. This is not real jayden tho, is a construct that his mind created in the Ari, most likely because he was thinking about jayden when he put on his glasses.

    If people keep asking why Carter Blake and his colleagues are being such an ass towards Jayden, isn't it obvious that they are actually feeling very inferior with Norman's presence?
    Because one, Norman is an agent of a higher rank than them. Blake made it clear when he said the local police won't trample on evidence even though they're not in the FBI and think Norman is one of those bureaucrats behind the desk ordering people around and showing off his high tech gadget only FBI agents could use. Have to admit, those moments seeing Blake flipping off on Norman a lot of the times and Norman giving a piece of his mind to Blake again were pretty funny. Two, their rivalry was very serious with Blake keep saying he's the one who found OK w/o having to have a profiler like Norman. He looks down on Norman thinking that Norman's method was a waste of time and unnecessary. Norman was the intelligent, by book kind of guy and had to take a lot of crap from them seeing he's the only FBI guy around. Even Perry said he didn't want the FBI to be involved but had no choice since the OK case got even bigger. Too obvious that these policemen had such huge egos and yet inferior at the same time. So you should see why everybody is having inferiority complex thinking they're supposedly good enough in doing their jobs and yet still needing one FBI guy around them to 'monitor and assist' them? Indirectly means that they're not able to do their jobs well. So of course the hissy fits by Blake all the time.
    I've been in Norman's shoes before. Believe me when you're from a higher rank and have to work with people like Blake and Perry, it is hell.

    As sad as that is, it's more real to life than a happy ending for Norman. Addiction normally does do irreparable damage to the addict, even when recovered and staying in the same place often causes relapses to be more probable so either way, Norman wouldn't have a happy outcome. It may suck but, it was a very real way to go about it. I'll take those endings over his Tripto deaths any-day. For the uninitiated, Norman has two distinct issues - ARI, his hi-tech glasses which can eventually cause lasting brain-damage, and Triptocaine, a drug issued with the glasses to counter its effects - though said drug is highly addictive. Norman is so hell bent on solving this case that he will essentially resign if Shaun is saved (no thanks to Norman), which turns out to be the best outcome as he hands in his glasses, opting to live in the 'real world', thus has no real reason to continue taking the drug (though whether he overcomes the addiction is unknown).
    If the case goes unsolved/Shaun dies, Norman will succumb to guilt-ridden paranoia and spends far too much time in ARI, with his own self mentioning the likelihood of permanent side-effects.
    If he solves the case and players failed to ween him off the drug, he will die of an overdose. If he solves the case but the player has weened him off the drugs, he will start to succumb to the brain-damaging effects of ARI - permanently - as shown by digital tanks now being visible to him in reality. Of course, just like Ethan and Madison, he can also be killed in various ways throughout the game, to which Blake will try on his glasses and be spooked by 'uploaded Norman'.

      Pastel Bambi The worst that happens to Blake is that if Ethan is killed at the warehouse but Norman is alive (I think you have to get Norman not to go to the warehouse though), the ending news report says that Blake and Captain Perry are suspended, showing that Norman reported their actions after learning of Ethan’s wrongful death. That or whatever ends up happening to him in the aftermath of the “Uploaded” ending when he sees Norman walking towards him when he has on the ARI glasses.
      Personally I’d like to think Norman slowly causes Blake to go insane by torturing him through the glasses, making him go through the same thing he did when he experienced withdrawal from Triptocaine.

    While in ARI the last time, make sure you look at the recording in the "clues" box. Go back to when Scot was choking you on the desk, and pause it and analyze. It should zoom in on his wrist. Do a geo search on the gas receipt and the "?" box. Hope this helps.

Now this leaves his ending open in that Jayden could stop using ARI for a while, after being freaked out by what he saw, and restoring his brains functionality back to normal. Or he continues using it and the visions get worse. Or he tells his superiors allowing them to fix it later.

    To understand the meaning of the endings
    Norman uses a special device ARI glasses which helps him During solving cases. This device using Normans brain as a direct CPU. This is resulting in the fact that the ARI users become exhausted more often than other people and hence needs sleeping more often. However since cases requiring faster solving of the puzzles the special drug Triptocain developed turning the side effects of exhaustion similar when people not sleeping for days dissapear. However Jayden does not keeps in mind about the usage of the drug and uses triptocain as an almost all the time solution for being exhausted which could result in massive side effects or even death.
    Uploaded: Norman died, Only some minor side show appears
    Smoking mirrors: Shaun dies and Jayden becomes a very depressed person after his failure to solve the case. Even after the Shauns case Jayden still attemps to find out were did he make mistakes and a finding out who the killed is but being unable to find out the answers overuses ARI again and dies pressumably by overexhaustion caused by his overtaxed brain.
    Resignation: Shaun survived but not by Jayden's work as he did not get the answers needen, After his failure he became depressed and not seeing himself being able to cope with the FBI's requirements and resingness, the rest of Jayden fate is unkown.
    Case Closed: Jayden solves the case and become a well known and succesful FBI agent. He decidess to not to use triptocain. At this point many says Jayden become brain damaged however it is a bit tricky since it is more of a simbolic end than an actual one. Without the triptocain Jayden can't shortcut the side effects of ARI. The scene plays at night in his office and Jayden using ARI The tank appearing giving him a warming like "That's enough for today!" and Jayden surrenders. Meaning that Jayden has to keep in mind the limits of using ARI in the future.

    This might be a stupid question. What makes Jayden go crazy? Is it the computer sunglasses he wears or is it the tubes of stuff that he takes sometimes?

    • @jaelyncoleman3991
      @jaelyncoleman3991 Před 6 lety

      paultheuglydog It’s not really explained. Norman is highly addicted to the Triptocaine (which is the tubes of blue stuff he carries with him in multiple chapters), which was given to him to counteract the effects of overusing the ARI glasses, which would cause his eyes and nose to bleed (as seen in the chapter “Solving the Puzzle”, if you stay in ARI for too long which can result in Norman’s death if you stay in ARI letting Norman sit idle and do nothing for approximately ten minutes). So it may be either the Triptocaine, ARI, or both that causes him to suffer psychologically. However, some players, including myself, have theorized that Norman himself may have some type of psychological issue himself, perhaps a split personality, which only got worse with the effects of overusage of ARI and his addiction to Triptocaine. It is possible that this is why he talks to himself in the ARI environment in the “Smoking Mirror” ending, because he felt so guilty over failing to save Shaun Mars and resolve the case of the Origami Killer that his differing personalities manifested separately for the first time, which shocked Norman (as shown by how Norman is shocked after seeing that the person he was talking to was himself.) This ‘split personality’ theory also could explain why he acts differently and more similar to Blake in some chapters, such as in “Fish Tank” when he aggressively threatens the bouncer after he refuses to tell him whether Paco knew the guy that had killed him. This is a stark contrast to how Norman had previously acted; he was mostly quiet and seemed antisocial around other people. Some of his dialogue in “Mad Jack” also appears to support this theory. If you choose to have Norman threaten to ignite the gas barrels, at one point he’ll say “Or rather, I’ll just say it was an accident, because you won’t really be able to talk, will ya, Jack?” Now, this could easily have been Norman simply threatening Jack in order to scare him enough to make him talk, but it seems sort of odd to hear Norman say something like that judging from his earlier behavior in past chapters.
