    I am a avid Hiker...mostly 14ers all over California. I like the new Targhee III compared to my Targhee II. Feels more comfortable. Typically they last me 2-3 years. I always buy the mid.

    Great review man. I tried on Salomon, merrell, and keens today and the Targhee iii mid was the best of the bunch out of the gate. Unfortunately they didn’t have the wide in my size. And to be honest, I was trying to get away from the keens. Had 3 pairs and the soles break down after about 6-7months. Other than that, I have no complaints. But, I was surprised with the targhee iii. Thanks for sharing. New friend here to your channel.

      AppyMountainTrekkers wow! Thank you so much! Yes, the Targhee does break down! The soles are horrible in the 2, hopefully the 3 holds up better! I really appreciate your kind words! Cheers to you!

      The reviews are up and down on these. Some folks get good ones others complain. When I went to reglue mine the other day, there were 4 tiny glue drops. That’s it. Oh well, congratulations! Mine are holding up fine since I reglued them. Cheeers!!!!

    Interesting review even if 5 years old
    My Australian ''Keen Men's Targhee III Oxford Low Hiking Shoes Dark Earth Mulch'' are very different to the reviewed ones (??) . Most comfortable footwear I have worn but the soles wear up too quickly ---- bloody useless really :( 2 pairs in 3-4 years !
    I also have ''Keen Men's Circadia Waterproof Mid Hiking Boots Bison Brindle'' with the same sole ; again bloody useless for a 71 year old
    Any suggestions ?

    Great review! my question is have you noticed any decrease in heel slippage control in the 3? The two looks like the heel ribbon stays higher on the heel.

    Love Keens ...perfect for my rectangular 🦶

  • @susanandduncanmorrison2578

    I''ve had a pair of these for about 4-5 years. Loved them and stood up to much of Scotland's fickle weather but they finally wore out, however the quality is not as good on the new pair and the sizing is way out. I'm a UK6 for my size 25.3 feet. The sizing on the KeenEurope website indicated I should be wearing UK7s. Depending where you buy these shoes from depends whether you get the latest model or stock from way back (and the older stock is better) and with the newer shoes you'll need to buy the size up. I had to return a couple of pairs before getting anything near to the pair I had before. Also I don't think the leather is as good. Some of the reviews I've read on Trustpilot would suggest the quality has gone way down which is a real shame. My original pair were made in Cambodia, the recent pair were Made in Thailand. Wondered how you are doing with them now.

    Very nice video thanks. Quick question.. I will be hiking in hot climate (over 95/100 degrees) for extended period.. Do these shoes get hot and should I be looking at something with a better ventilated top? Thanks.

    • @douglasbrown9625
      @douglasbrown9625  Před rokem +1

      They do get hot! Full leather. Look at La Sportiva. Great shoes with full soles. Toe bumper yet, nylon breathable top. Cheers!

      @@douglasbrown9625 Thank you very much for that recommendation. It seems that even with their "breathable" technology they are waterproof. Not sure how they achieve that. (My Keen with mesh top is water resistant but not waterproof) However they (La Sportiva) are not widely sold on Amazon etc.. I will look at REI when I am there next.

    Thoughts on durability so far? I'm thinking of getting these or the mids, coming from Saltzman, which lasted me a solid 4 years. Just want another shoe that'll last as long for yard work and daily wear alike.

    what about the soles ? i am skeptical about anything that's not vibram. i hate slippery soles more than i hate sweaty shoes.

    • @douglasbrown9625
      @douglasbrown9625  Před 3 lety +1

      The soles have good grip, great traction. BUT, evidenced in other reviews, they separate from the foam. Horrible construction as twice it happened to me, they replaced one, and that one too sadly is starting to break apart! Sad! Cheers to you!

      I bought them and they're sweat boxes. No breathability through the top of the boot at all. They're waterproof alright. Any water that's in stays in, and any water that's out stays out.

    • @douglasbrown9625
      @douglasbrown9625  Před 4 lety

      skeetorkiftwon oh yeah. As with any gore Tex type waterproof shoe, the water stays in. Keen makes the Targhee Vent just for that reason. Check them out! Durable and breathable! Cheers!
