  • Honda’s second-generation Ridgeline will appeal to those who want a vehicle that drives like an SUV, has the cushy creature comforts and technology of an SUV, yet has a truck bed and can still carry payload and tow.

John Dough Actually, the new Ridgeline was voted the MOST American made truck. Even though Honda is a foreign company, it employs more American labor in the manufacturing of the Ridgeline than the big three American companies do with their trucks. Ironic yes, but true.

The biggest thing I've had in the back of my truck was my atv. Every now and then a job site table saw and mitresaw and various hand tools. I don't off road, I don't plow and I don't tow 10,000 lbs. I tote the kids around, recycling and use it as a daily driver. This ridgeline is perfect.

Love my new ridgeline. Didn't need to pull a camper/horse trailer. Still has plenty of power, and handling. I am able to put my dirtbikes in the bed and gear in the storage area. At some point ill probably get a small boat and this will work just fine.

I mean, technically speaking, this isn't actually a truck, as the definition of a truck is a utility vehicle that is built body-on-frame, and the bed must be separated from the cab. The Honda Ridgeline is unibody, and the bed is integrated with the cab.

I'm not a huge truck guy, I drive sport cars and GT cars mostly, so I drive like a jack ass, but I've driven a Ford F-250 and a Toyota Tacoma and this truck is so comfortable and capable... in terms of handling and comfort. The biggest problem is the volume nob since there isn't one.

Bought the Honda Ridgeline RTL-T. Why? Tho it cost a lot more than the Chevy Colorado the Ridgeline RTL-T have more to offer and really great gas milage. If you own a Honda Pilot or even a CR-V, you will adapt to the many features inside the vehicle. Best reason I got it was I have no reason to have a heavy duty truck when I will not use it for heavy duty work or off roading. Now for everyday driving the Honda Ridgeline drives better than the SUV Pilot and is good for light to medium work of hauling loads. Another feature is that the Honda Ridgeline for now is the the only truck that has front wheel drive. This truck is for everyday people like me who are not into off roading, but have best of both worlds of a SUV / Truck.

My dad bought a white RTL-T two months ago which I recommended for him & he loves it to death! It has a nice high quality feeling interior, very strong power from the sweet 3.5L V6, very quiet interior, very comfortable seats & super agile handling for its size. It's the perfect truck for him & he doesn't do heavy towing or payload. He also loves the in bed trunk. It replaced a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (he bought it new back in 2003) which was still going strong, 302k miles with very few problems over the years, but felt very old & was long overdue for replacement.

To all the people asking why this isn't a truck - First of all I really like this vehicle and I would buy one in a heartBeat. The ridgeline is not a truck because it doesn't have a frame, it doesn't have any solid axles and it is front wheel drive which means sideways tranny like awd cars. It's a car with a bed, which would be perfect for me and many others obviously. imo a truck needs either 2 solid axles like a classic cherokee or one solid axle and a ladder frame like older trackers, hummer H2, chev 1500, tacoma or wharever. Ultimate trucks are dual solid axle and full frame like classic Land Cruisers, F350's, Dodge diesel, unimogs etc...

And they have air bag problems offroad

I am one of those people who want a bed to throw the occasional large tv purchase or trash for a dump run and may tow a small trailer now and then, but prefer the luxury sedan feel. What I don't need is a "Traditional" truck.. you know the ones that ride like hell, eat gas, etc. etc. They do tow and haul like a boss, but hauling and towing aint my job. Micah, you're a racer. You should be asking the question the rest of us are asking:
If I've got my Spec E30 / Spec Miata / etc. hooked up, I'm close to that 5k tow capacity. Can I now fill the bed up with several hundred pounds of tools / spares / wheels & tires / pit bikes / etc? Assuming a 10% tongue weight, that 500lbs puts me nowhere near the load limit. But I'm at the tow limit.
Can you hook up your SM, load it up with a bunch of spares, and go tow over the Grapevine a few times for us? For journalism's sake--I'm sure KBB would pay for a track day at Buttonwillow for you.

It's based on the Pilot because it shares more parts than the Odyssey. From the B pillar on forward, including interior and front doors, it's a Pilot.

They should have offered heated rear seats in the U.S. version like they do for the Canadian market.

only 1% of the people who buy trucks use it for heavy towing, the rest just uses it to haul air and 2 bags of fertilizers at most. Im not a truck guy but this is what i would buy because it has the practicality of a SUV just with a bed for those days u want to go camping or fishing.

Well, the fuel economy is a lot better than the last gen model, the big problem here, is now GM knows your fuel economy numbers and sitting in the wings is GM's new 3.6 V6 with (DOD) and (no stop and go, why), add the 8 speed auto (probably the new 10 speed auto, sometime down the road), and you equal if not beat the Ridgeline number (not to mention the diesel option), plus the GM twin tow more than it does, so, with the Honda Ridgeline unibody vs the others traditional body on frame midsize pickups, you would think gas mileage should be better, think about it, you're giving up over 1,800 (2,700 GM - diesel) lbs towing ability, here’s the different gas mileages: 2017 Honda Ridgeline fwd (19 c / 26 h / 22 c) ----- 2017 Honda Ridgeline awd (18 c / 25 h / 21 c) ----- 2014 Honda Ridgeline awd (15 c / 21 h / 17 c) ----- 2017 Chevy Colorado 2wd-V6 (18 c / 25 h / 20 c) ----- 2017 Chevy Colorado 4wd-V6 (17 c / 24 h / 19 c) ----- 2017 Toyota Tacoma 2wd-V6 (19 c / 24 h / 21 c) ----- 2017 Toyota Tacoma 4wd-V6 (18 c / 23 h / 20 c), glad they improved the gas mileage vs the last gen, seriously the last gen got similar mileage to a full size Chevrolet Avalanche, note I said full size, note, it has Honda's variable cylinder management (VCM), ok, just $70 more than the last gen model, but remember the last gen had awd standard, this model come in fwd and awd is an option (@ $1,800), so, really the new gen Ridgeland cost 1,870 more than the last gen model, the Nissan Frontier (aka Nissan Navara) it gets an asterisk (*) for being the oldest models here and a new model already available in some overseas markets, it will be interesting to see how the market is after the new Ford Ranger and Jeep pickup comes out, could Ford also be planning a Ford Explorer Sport Trac (remember the 2nd Ford Sport Trac featured a four-wheel independent suspension), would also be kind of nice for GM, too use GMC kind of like a Hummer substitute, meaning GMC needs more pickups and SUVs, it's crazy how well Jeep and Land Rover are doing, too bad GM sold the Hummer name, GM should have really done a Holden UTE or the GMC Denali XT concept pickup for GMC, now that’s an unibody customers would get behind, setup properly, meaning rwd based, no fwd here, either way the new Ridgeline does what Honda design it too do, yes, there are midsize pickups that tow more, are better off road and etc, but the Honda isn’t look for that, thus, the Honda Ridgeline, still the GM twins are the best overall, the Ridgeline has the best ride and Toyota is the best off road (I think the new Colorado ZR2 has something to say about this), end of the day, it’s pickup, so it will do pickup like stuff

I'd suggest the 2014-2017 over the 2021+ models. I'm not a huge fan of the new front end, and the ZF 9 speed automatic isn't a very great transmission either.

not much different from my 2007 ridgeline. best features are the 2-way tailgate, the trunk, the plastic box, the folding rear seats and flat floor. The old one had all these things.
