People forget that Vex is one of the most unique villains. He was a very unsuccessful manipulator, and even more unsuccessful at fighting. He had no reason to have such power, but by sheer luck he managed to control Zane to commit genocide and rule practically an entire realm. While Vex still isn’t the most compelling villains, he’s definitely one of the most unique.
@@demonking3673 I honestly never found Zane as the Ice Emperor the main villain of the ice chapter, as Vex really was the one controlling him. He was more of a secondary villain, a red herring possibly to the main villain. He was pretty intimidating and powerful though.
In the “Quest for Lost Powers” book, Zane actually has something akin to PTSD from his time as the Ice Emperor. It’s actually really cool and gives Zane even just the tiniest bit of closure.
I liked this season, it was actually one of my favorites, because the writing felt so grounded and natural. The episodes where we saw the news adds and the paperboys made me care a lot more about the city. Suddenly it felt less like a plot device and more like a real place with real People. As for plot holes or inconsistencies, I could point out plenty in every season. It’s a kids show about magic lego ninjas. It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be fun
Season 11 did the best job they could possibly do in terms of developing Nelson's character and introducing us to Antonia. Compared to Crystalized for example where they tried to do something similar but failed so badly
Ninjago is not a cult cartoon masterpiece that marked a generation by being "just fun", it is extremely simplistic to say "it must just be fun who cares" for a universe and a work like that, yes it's a series for children, yes fun is one of its charms and it's important, yes nothing is perfect, but reasoning like that is just rubbish, where then to hate ninjago... it's the limit of leveling down + we explored and developed the life of ninjago city for 10 seasons... you should think about seriously watching the series (I would nevertheless like to point out that I respect the fact that you love this season and that I completely understand why)

For me, this kids show doesn’t need to be the greatest show ever, although I’d hope the producers put effort into the show. But as an adult now, I love this show for the nostalgia and fun of it. Aspheera wasn't bad writed, it was evil and hypocrite and after 1.000 years on a dark room she became insane (if you think it's ilogic how she survived, well, she's a witch, you could say that she used her spells)
Not only that, but Nya’s plot to control ice filled a huge plot hole in the elemental powers. S1 e10 Jay uses wind(but he is a master of lighting) Cole’s arms have lava in them. After Nya controlling ice plot they make sense and it was greatly expanded in seabound
I think the lava hands are just to look cool we never see him control lava it could be because Lava is always found In volcanoes large amounts of rocks/earth.
I genuinely do enjoy "filler" episodes because I'm invested in the characters of the show and it's fun to see their daily life. Also, the paperboy episodes are so good for this reason, they're wholesome :)
I feel like Wu's anger is justified. This takes place soon after the Oni invaded, and think of all the times before that that the ninja's carelessness after victory came back to bite them. It's no surprise that after the biggest threat to their lives yet was defeated, he wanted to keep them on their toes
I'm so glad I found someone else who likes this season just as much as I do! I honestly prefer the Fire Chapter, simply because I love how they expand on ninjago city and give some insight at how the ninja are outside of their big world saving adventures but I also like the fire chapter a lot! I hope we'll see Akita and the other people again, though I doubt she is still alive if we remember that between Zane and the ninja going to the neverrealm were decades...
I think the only thing I hated about season 11 was the end. Kai's big moment and Zane's fight/Zane remembering his past were both rushed so badly. They managed to take two extremely powerful moments and just kind of ruined them both at the same time.

I think there is more I will tell you of there's more, but anyway, most people who have elemental power aren't really special because they can duplicate their powers for themselves Also, aspheera WITH her staff can take powers not copy but their the same thing to me

All Ninjago season can either be Bad, or good. No In-between. For this one however, its one of the few instances where you would say "Its not bad, but not good either."
I saw the "zane is the bad guy" twist coming a mile away but i was still surprised by it because I didn't expect them to follow through with it since it wasn't 100% kid-friendly. The first half of the season was boring asf until the last part but aspheera is a baddie so its worth it.

Immense respect buddy. I have always thought that this season is the best Ninjago season ever. It has been my #1 since the moment it was released I remember being hyped up for every episode. I was never so hyped for new episodes in my life. I was waking up at 4 or 5am just to see the episodes because that's when they premiered Over time I noticed a lot of people hating this season which I never understood why. For that recently I decided to rewatch this season to see if I was wrong and if this season is actually as bad as they say it is. I did and well... No? I haven't changed my mind a single bit. I still think this is Ninjago's best season up to date ✨
I think how they nerfed nya to need a water source to use her powers is a good thing since it makes nya not so overpowered same thing with other characters who got a similar nerf it makes them more like they cant just make something out of nothing this logic doesn't apply to everything but its a nice thing.
The biggest problem with this season is the pacing; there are countless clusters of episodes in this season that are such a slog to watch through. The fluidity of the main plot in both chapters feels stiff. I can pass over other glaring points such as Asphira being a one dimensional antagonist, and I am personally a big fan of the animation changes. But this season's pacing is abysmal, and although all of your positive points are extremely valid, I can't bear to sit through it again.
i really liked this season and was confused how everyone hated it. the only thing i dont like is how like displayed jay's character. he was portrayed as this annoying and in the way character that keeps getting himself into trouble, slowing the others down. i love jay's character but they ruined it in season 11. im glad they fixed it though. and i loved both the fire and ice chapter and how (very slight spoiler) zane had trauma from the events of the ice emperor. overall it was a great season. a lot of changes but still an interesting plot.
This season was always weird to me, it was in 2 parts which is the biggest problem. I hated Part 1, I thought it was terrible and hated It, TERRIBLE HALF SEASON. On the contrary S11 P2 was Incredible🤩 and I think it is such an incredible half season. So having a season which I hated 1 half and loved the other was always weird and as a whole I have no idea what to think of it.
my issue with this season is the fact that they arent consistant with a lot of things. the emphasis of there being no way back wouldve been a better storyline to have after the ninja find out the travelers tea doesnt work and have one team after zan and one team finding a new way home, but then the result was, "oh just add a random berry i put in my bag and problem solved." also i feel like they shouldve made it two different seasons that relate instead of two parts in one season that have almost nothing relating other than cause and effect. if they had more going into aspheera maybe banishing wu and trying to take over ninjago and having the ninja stopping her, then realizing in the last episode that wu is alive and have wu be the one to save instead of zane (unlike literally every other season of ninjago). i could add a few more points but this is probably all the main stuff that needs to be covered
When people rate Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu, they usually rate both parts. If the Fire and Ice Chapters were separated, the Ice Chapter would be an S tier season
the only reason i really do like this season is because it is pretty fun but because my favorite character, lloyd, actually seemed to mellow out after the Oni trilogy which really excited me
No, if you look at how long the ninja were in the never realm and how much passed in ninjago, the passage of time seems about the same. It just is that the silly reason is that Aspheera sent Zane years in the past for some reason. It is a silly explanation, but it is the only one that works
S11 is one of those season that aged better than some others. Like for what s10 and crystallized were, despite most of us unanimously disliking crystalized, it’s one of those types of seasons. But seasons that aged poorly were definitely like Seabound unfortunately and MOTM (massive mixed review on that one)
I like the ice chapter a lot. The fire chapter felt too childish for me at some points since unfortunetly Ninjago is still a kids show, but the ice chapter was nearly perfect. My only complaint is that Lloyd got too much focus although it was Kais season and imo he definetely needed it more. Lloyds solo mission was well done, but I always thought it should have been Kai or at least one of the OGs to defeat the Ice Emperor. I would rewrite it so that Akita and the former emeperor got frozen and then Lloyd would fight both the Ice Emperor and Vex. He would try to get through to Zane but Vex would try to counter it. Lloyd would be frozen as well, but his last words would make Zane slowly remember his past. Then the other ninja enter the thrown room and a new fight between them and Vex and Zane would start, but Vex would call the remaining soldiers to join the fight. The others would also try to make Zane remember, each of them sharing something personal from the past so everyone has their little scene. Vex would still try to talk against it but because of his conflicting thoughts and the scrolls corruption, Zane would become mad and unleashes an enormous ice beam, but Kai counters it with a fire beam. Nearly before being overpowered by Zane, Kai would say something that makes him remember that he is built to protect and Zane would regain his memory. His beam weakens and Kai uses his to knock the scroll out of his hand. The rest would go like the show, Zane freezes Vex and frees the neverealm. It wouldnt have to be exactly like this, but if it just was Kai defeating him, the ice chapter would be Top 10 to me for sure.
Currently in the middle of re-watching it and my overall opinion, (this is my fourth time watching the season in total) is that a perfectly represents the entire wildbrain era of Ninjago, it has some really great moments, fantastic fight scenes, and fantastic visuals. It also has pacing issues, poor dialogue at times and can be a bit sloppy with its character writing. That being said it is a country mile season.
Guys, I don't think you realize how seriously under-rated this season is. All the time, people only focus on the lows of this season, rather than also acknowledging its highs. If im being honest, this season may very well be the funniest season of Ninjago. The Fire Chapter, although it lacked in execution, made up for it with awesome, fluid animation and funny dialouge. And the Ice Chapter, although it may have felt dry, made up for it with an amazing storyline. Sure, it wasn't the best season, but it defintely deserves more credit then its given
I like to think that in some years after Crystalized, after breaking things off with Harumi, with whom he had been in a toxic, abusive relationship (I'm 100% positive that's what would happen between them after the show's ending), Lloyd finds his way to the Never Realm and gets together with Akita. Sadly, I'm almost sure this will never happen in the canon, since Dragon's Rising whole shtick is resetting the world and deleting all side characters, I doubt we will even get a throwaway line about Harumi or Akita...
I think there was a tweet where they confirmed akitas probably dead. I would prefer Lloyd without a love interest personally. Also dragons rising didn’t delete all of the old side characters, they just have no reason to appear, itd just be messy to have all old characters return by the first seasons
Ok there is one thing that would make the season better that in the ice part its Kai that goes after Zane as it would make a great arc for Kai traveling across a land of ice with hardly any powers and in the final encounter with the Ice emperor he is able to fire a ball of fire at vex melting his ice crystal and then the lloyd scene plays out with the fire and Vex's choice of words reminds zane
The only thing I don't like about season 11 is pacing. It has horrible pacing. Maybe that's because of the new 11 minute episodes and the filler but it feels rushed, especially at the end. I didn't really care much for Fire Chapter. It was okay. The Ice Chapter was my favorite because the concept was great.
My biggest problem with the seazon is Nya being a complete bitch do Jay (her newly baked fiance!!), as well as Akita's romantic plot with Lloyd being completly ditched afterwards (though that's not the season's fault), I quite like it overall, 11th's low rating in my ranking is just due to most seasons being better, but then again, there isn't a season I particularly don't like in all the 15 seasons of the show, which is a good run. Dragon's Rising is a different beast though, I clicked off after 3,5 episodes due to it being pure disrespect for Ninjago's amazing legacy...
I have a question about this season. We see that if the wielder of the forbidden scroll has no elemental power, it can't really be used. We see this with Kai in the fight scene. But, when Pixal uses it, she seems to be able to be powered up by the scroll. This might be a plot hole, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a great ninjago season ❤
i won't lie to you, man. i don't like this season and no one can tell me otherwise. it's not that i hate it because i don't, i just don't like it but it felt so... generic, to me. the enemy is a snake, a ninja loses his power again, again. and loses his confidence in himself just like the countless other times this happened and will happen. the 2nd part was better but it wasn't that big of an improvement. zane is lost in the unknown without memories and the ninja has to find him. very standard things for Ninjago that i think became too standard. a new viewer won't have these problems but for an old time viewer like myself it takes away all sense of wonder and excitement for what's gonna happen next. and the new episode format along with the filler episodes makes breaks the pace of this season so much. i think 10-mins episodes were a mistake because everything goes so fast that many character development moments feel unearned and the fillers should've been bonus episodes or something because they really stand out and in a bad way for most of them. but this is just my opinion tho and maybe I'll like it on rewatch someday and maybe I'll like it

Agreed, for me S11 finally brought Ninjago City to life, which I absolutely didn't care about before.

I really like how Asphera calls Wu a "Trecherous Deciver" and not just a traitor. It might just be me, but I really love it nonetheless.

I cant believe people slandered my ice favourite. Fire part is decent. The ice part is legitimately my favourite half of a season
The biggest problem with this season is the pacing; there are countless clusters of episodes in this season that are such a slog to watch through. The fluidity of the main plot in both chapters feels stiff. I can pass over other glaring points such as Asphira being a one dimensional antagonist, and I am personally a big fan of the animation changes. But this season's pacing is abysmal, and although all of your positive points are extremely valid, I can't bear to sit through it again.

i really liked this season and was confused how everyone hated it. the only thing i dont like is how like displayed jay's character. he was portrayed as this annoying and in the way character that keeps getting himself into trouble, slowing the others down. i love jay's character but they ruined it in season 11. im glad they fixed it though. and i loved both the fire and ice chapter and how (very slight spoiler) zane had trauma from the events of the ice emperor. overall it was a great season. a lot of changes but still an interesting plot.
This season was always weird to me, it was in 2 parts which is the biggest problem. I hated Part 1, I thought it was terrible and hated It, TERRIBLE HALF SEASON.
On the contrary S11 P2 was Incredible🤩 and I think it is such an incredible half season. So having a season which I hated 1 half and loved the other was always weird and as a whole I have no idea what to think of it.
The Zane plot twist was very predictable for those who watched Yu-GI-Oh GX
It's a funny coincidence that the two longest seasons are also the two most controversial.
my issue with this season is the fact that they arent consistant with a lot of things. the emphasis of there being no way back wouldve been a better storyline to have after the ninja find out the travelers tea doesnt work and have one team after zan and one team finding a new way home, but then the result was, "oh just add a random berry i put in my bag and problem solved." also i feel like they shouldve made it two different seasons that relate instead of two parts in one season that have almost nothing relating other than cause and effect. if they had more going into aspheera maybe banishing wu and trying to take over ninjago and having the ninja stopping her, then realizing in the last episode that wu is alive and have wu be the one to save instead of zane (unlike literally every other season of ninjago). i could add a few more points but this is probably all the main stuff that needs to be covered

When people rate Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu, they usually rate both parts. If the Fire and Ice Chapters were separated, the Ice Chapter would be an S tier season
the only reason i really do like this season is because it is pretty fun but because my favorite character, lloyd, actually seemed to mellow out after the Oni trilogy which really excited me
i honestly prefer watching this season then prime empire and master of the mountain

No, if you look at how long the ninja were in the never realm and how much passed in ninjago, the passage of time seems about the same. It just is that the silly reason is that Aspheera sent Zane years in the past for some reason. It is a silly explanation, but it is the only one that works

S11 is one of those season that aged better than some others. Like for what s10 and crystallized were, despite most of us unanimously disliking crystalized, it’s one of those types of seasons. But seasons that aged poorly were definitely like Seabound unfortunately and MOTM (massive mixed review on that one)
To be honest, I really enjoyed Season 11 - maybe there wasn't too much "fire" in Fire Chapter but damn, it was such an enjoyable season.
I like the ice chapter a lot. The fire chapter felt too childish for me at some points since unfortunetly Ninjago is still a kids show, but the ice chapter was nearly perfect. My only complaint is that Lloyd got too much focus although it was Kais season and imo he definetely needed it more. Lloyds solo mission was well done, but I always thought it should have been Kai or at least one of the OGs to defeat the Ice Emperor.
I would rewrite it so that Akita and the former emeperor got frozen and then Lloyd would fight both the Ice Emperor and Vex. He would try to get through to Zane but Vex would try to counter it. Lloyd would be frozen as well, but his last words would make Zane slowly remember his past. Then the other ninja enter the thrown room and a new fight between them and Vex and Zane would start, but Vex would call the remaining soldiers to join the fight. The others would also try to make Zane remember, each of them sharing something personal from the past so everyone has their little scene. Vex would still try to talk against it but because of his conflicting thoughts and the scrolls corruption, Zane would become mad and unleashes an enormous ice beam, but Kai counters it with a fire beam. Nearly before being overpowered by Zane, Kai would say something that makes him remember that he is built to protect and Zane would regain his memory. His beam weakens and Kai uses his to knock the scroll out of his hand. The rest would go like the show, Zane freezes Vex and frees the neverealm.
It wouldnt have to be exactly like this, but if it just was Kai defeating him, the ice chapter would be Top 10 to me for sure.
Main problem with this season is the fact that in crystallized overlord didnt tell 'rumi Lloyd was cheating on her with a wolf furry girl
Currently in the middle of re-watching it and my overall opinion, (this is my fourth time watching the season in total) is that a perfectly represents the entire wildbrain era of Ninjago, it has some really great moments, fantastic fight scenes, and fantastic visuals.
It also has pacing issues, poor dialogue at times and can be a bit sloppy with its character writing.
That being said it is a country mile season.
Part of the reason it is so hated is because most of the story didn't go anywhere after. It felt out of place and not part of the big picture
Guys, I don't think you realize how seriously under-rated this season is. All the time, people only focus on the lows of this season, rather than also acknowledging its highs.
If im being honest, this season may very well be the funniest season of Ninjago. The Fire Chapter, although it lacked in execution, made up for it with awesome, fluid animation and funny dialouge. And the Ice Chapter, although it may have felt dry, made up for it with an amazing storyline.
Sure, it wasn't the best season, but it defintely deserves more credit then its given

I like to think that in some years after Crystalized, after breaking things off with Harumi, with whom he had been in a toxic, abusive relationship (I'm 100% positive that's what would happen between them after the show's ending), Lloyd finds his way to the Never Realm and gets together with Akita.
Sadly, I'm almost sure this will never happen in the canon, since Dragon's Rising whole shtick is resetting the world and deleting all side characters, I doubt we will even get a throwaway line about Harumi or Akita...
I think there was a tweet where they confirmed akitas probably dead. I would prefer Lloyd without a love interest personally. Also dragons rising didn’t delete all of the old side characters, they just have no reason to appear, itd just be messy to have all old characters return by the first seasons
My only problem was how rushed the ending felt, and I’m definitely not a fan of the 11 minute episodes lengths
I found it weird Zane felt no regret/experienced no consequences Post Ice Emperor. He killed people and took over a realm (planet, universe, whatever)

Ok there is one thing that would make the season better that in the ice part its Kai that goes after Zane as it would make a great arc for Kai traveling across a land of ice with hardly any powers and in the final encounter with the Ice emperor he is able to fire a ball of fire at vex melting his ice crystal and then the lloyd scene plays out with the fire and Vex's choice of words reminds zane

I don't hate this season, but I don't think it's quite as good as you do. I think it's a fairly average but fun Ninjago season
The only thing I don't like about season 11 is pacing. It has horrible pacing. Maybe that's because of the new 11 minute episodes and the filler but it feels rushed, especially at the end.
I didn't really care much for Fire Chapter. It was okay.
The Ice Chapter was my favorite because the concept was great.

My biggest problem with the seazon is Nya being a complete bitch do Jay (her newly baked fiance!!), as well as Akita's romantic plot with Lloyd being completly ditched afterwards (though that's not the season's fault), I quite like it overall, 11th's low rating in my ranking is just due to most seasons being better, but then again, there isn't a season I particularly don't like in all the 15 seasons of the show, which is a good run. Dragon's Rising is a different beast though, I clicked off after 3,5 episodes due to it being pure disrespect for Ninjago's amazing legacy...
Ok but can we talk about Wojira from the Never Realm vs Wojira from ninjago. My personal headcanon is that theres one Wojira in each realm
I have a question about this season.
We see that if the wielder of the forbidden scroll has no elemental power, it can't really be used. We see this with Kai in the fight scene.
But, when Pixal uses it, she seems to be able to be powered up by the scroll. This might be a plot hole, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a great ninjago season ❤

i won't lie to you, man. i don't like this season and no one can tell me otherwise.
it's not that i hate it because i don't, i just don't like it but it felt so... generic, to me.
the enemy is a snake, a ninja loses his power again, again. and loses his confidence in himself just like the countless other times this happened and will happen.
the 2nd part was better but it wasn't that big of an improvement. zane is lost in the unknown without memories and the ninja has to find him.
very standard things for Ninjago that i think became too standard. a new viewer won't have these problems but for an old time viewer like myself it takes away all sense of wonder and excitement for what's gonna happen next.
and the new episode format along with the filler episodes makes breaks the pace of this season so much.
i think 10-mins episodes were a mistake because everything goes so fast that many character development moments feel unearned and the fillers should've been bonus episodes or something because they really stand out and in a bad way for most of them.
but this is just my opinion tho and maybe I'll like it on rewatch someday and maybe I'll like it
Why does everyone hates filler? Everywhere I go people hate filler episodes....I don't get why, I really love them and they aren't so bad at all
I gotta agree the 10 minute format was bad....there are some shows like tawog or amphibia were the 10 minutes format is actually amazing and well good placed but it didn't work very well for ninjago
