I do agree with this
In that one episode in season 2 where they travel back in time it shows that Kai NEEDS a motivator
He becomes extremely motivated to help those who are close to him
This guy has a point. I used to hate season 11 Kai. But after this video, he’s not that bad, he’s very reliable now.
I'd like to think that Kai's fear of water in Possession started because of the Overlord's rampage in Legacy of the Green Ninja, and his "We'll swim the ocean if necessary" in S2 was more of arrogance or adrenaline from the fight against the Overlord and Garmadon that passed not long ago.
The difference is that in Possession all of them lost their powers for some time and were not in desperate need for it unlike in Season 11.
Thanks for giving me a new perspective about the way Kai reacted about loosing his powers you made a lot of valid points and It actually makes sense once you analyzed
Before I watch the video, I just wanna say that, in Possession, EVERYONE lost their powers, but in sotFS Kai was the only one who lost his powers. So of course he felt ostracized.
Dang this is a good analysis of the situation I hadn’t thought much of it aside from the fact it seemed kinda inconsistent when ppl brought it up, but now I get it. Great vid overall, (pretty funny as well)
Good video, while I dont like this arc overall, Kai being out of character is not an issue I have toward it
@@Ollyiswild_04 Kai doesnt develop from the arc and him gaining his powers back doesnt feel earned because he didnt overcome any sort of obstacle to gain them back, he just does
@@skylandersfan6954 yeah, that’s a problem I had with this arc too, and it’s one of the many reasons why I still dislike season 11.
Very good points. I’ll have to take another look at these scenes and episodes and put it into perspective.
You make a pretty good argument, and I totally agree with what your saying.
When I first saw season 11 I didn't think that he was out of character per say, but his behavior was odd- but
stepping back and taking a look at things, it makes sense why he was acting this way like you mentioned.
Great video, keep it up
@@Crusty783 No Problem! Seeing Ninjago discussion videos is rare so its nice to see
Season 11 Was so rushed. If they didn’t cram 2 storylines into the same season, Kai could’ve had some real development. But S11 tried to put this Kai story arc in half an episode which wasn’t enough. Most Kai fans (like myself) think this was out of character because Kai overcame his worries so quickly, whereas his development in earlier seasons took longer
I wouldn’t say it’s out of character because he got over it too fast, it’s more so that his character arc is simply rushed. But based on his reactions to those events, even then I still don’t think it’s out of character, they had the right direction with where they took Kai’s character but in execution near the end it failed too soon
@@The_ch0sen0ne5 As a Kai fan, I was super unsatisfied with this “arc”. So when I say Kai needs some focus and character development, I hate when people say “But what about Season 11?” because it’s barely anything for his character.
@@Regeor well there’s still some substance to his character in season 11 but wasn’t fleshed out enough, however they did do some justice to his character in dragons rising currently with his dynamic with wildfyre
@@The_ch0sen0ne5 I haven’t finished Dragons Rising yet. I really wish it was on Netflix so it’d be easier to watch. I’m on Episode 12.

Ya man, the kai not being able to swim was really stupid in season 5. Although I still didn't like the kai treatment in season 11. His character wasn't out of character but was just really overshadowed by Lloyd throughout the season even though he should have been the main ninja, he was on the box art and everything. Even though he should have been the main ninja, kai didn't even use forbidden spinjitzu at all and Kai really should have fought Zane in the finale. If season 11 just had 2 extra eps, they would have had a way better finale.
I disagree with all that. Id take Lloyd vs Zane over Kai vs Zane anyday. that lloyd story is one of my favourite arcs in the show
Your logic is sound have a very good day.
But for real holy crap I never actually looked at it that way, different situations will bring out different parts of people.
Also 1:14 a demigod and five elementals 😂😂
Who would have bought that in Ninjago fan would actually have some logic when looking at story arcs.
Awesome Ninjago video it was fun hearing the other CZcamsrs voices dailyroLord overlordX bricks by mind DTinaglia studios and generic stud I’m subscribed to all of them you included
I just wanna acknowledge you seem very angry in this video, it’s not really that big of a deal, I personally still disagree, though I do not totally praise season 5 and it’s representation of Kai, he still has a lot of reasons to keep fighting, he’s still a really good sword fighter, he’s got spinjitzu, he’s got a huge arsenal of weapons, he’s got mechs, and he ended up getting his powers back anyway shortly after. Kai is most of all loyal to his friends and leaving them completely in the hands of a fire snake army is straight up ridiculous.
yeah i feel like the way i speak can come across that way sometimes, something i gotta work on
@@Crusty783 master builder, is right bro, kai wouldnt let everyone down because he lost his powers like he said, its not about him losing his powers, its him completely giving up, and like he says, he still knows spinjitzu and can fight, so why would he completely leave the team, thats the downgrade not because of him being the only one without powers, but still he got back up pretty quickly which means he realized that soon, as for lloyd he took a little longer, and lloyd had lost , not only Power but friends and the fight against garmadon, it makes a difference when you put those 2 into perspective
@@ericmagana3215 well... think about it this way, having equal knowledge of Spinjitzu and martial arts as your peers(which Aspheera has all of them beat at) won't make you feel good enough, having no powers and equal number of martial arts won't help you defeat practically a demi god, it still makes sense but a way to do it better.
An alternative is to make Kai take a lot of Ls that he wouldn't have taken without his powers so that the inadequacy is understood.
Actually Kai is not really the most loyal if anything in Ninjago overall he's shown to be the least loyal.
In the Pilots, he continues to argue with his new comrades and even disobeys Wu's instructions.
In Season 5 while determined to save Lloyd, he put himself as the leader and although he lead the team he was shown to disregard the logical route by the most logical member of the team.
In Season 8, he's the most reluctant to save Lloyd's life to keep his powers.
While Season 5 is arguably hot headed - ness and the Pilots were the beginning of his journey.
@@TooSweet353 in 8 its like you risking your only weapon for someone that could or could not be saved, i mean at the end nobody lost anything and everyone was fine but losing 6 elemental fighters that at the moment could be the only way to win is to think of, but in season 5, i think he just disregards zanes guide for the sake of the joke, so dont take it too seriously, it was just for the sake of having the jak not listen to him and follow the others, and make the joke that theyre lost
You're videos r very enjoyable, about improvements I don't know your videos r good I would say improve the thumbnails but beside that the videos themselves the way you express your opinion it's really good stuff in your channel
Bruh the Ninja Al deleting your channel example 💀 also great video! Excited to see that future S11 Kai video
I agree! I even recently reposted a thing on Instagram about this and I told whoever posted it to grow up.
Anyways, the one thing I think you need to improve upon is your temper in your videos. As another person with autism, I can perfectly understand why this happens since I went through the exact same thing. But hopefully, as you age, you'll learn that being angry only brings sorrow to not only yourself, but to other people too. Keep up the good work!
@@Crusty783 I understand but I think you should at least take what I said into consideration since it might help you. Who knows?
@@Crusty783 It's mostly from your older videos. You seemed especially angry in those. But I think overtime, you have lessened the aggression but I still detected some aggression since you said in this video that you basically didn't know how to phrase it without sounding like a dick. Imo that implies that you're more careful of what you're saying but you had to suppress any anger just so you don't come off as a dick as you said. Don't worry tho, I have that same issue sometimes. There are things that get me riled up, but I just have to remind myself that it's not worth it as I mentioned before, it only hurts yourself and others
Also I'm curious
What do you think about that one moment in season 8 where the ninja needed to give up their powers to save Lloyd and Kai was hesitant
Do you think that's out of character or is there an explanation? I've seen a lot of hate on Kai for this one
kinda out of character maybe? but ultimately kai just watched the legendary green ninja get beat to a pulp. realistically the other 5 ninja's powers might have been all they had left
Tbh season 11 is my favourite season and will always will be idk why people hate it so much
Yeah your right
Like Lloyd can level a universe Kai doesn’t even have a lighter on him 😂
Hmm I agree. I also thought it was weird when the ninja where walking like that XD 0:28
i think if you're going to do a later video expanding on this, you should change the title because you're talking about something more specific than Kai in all of S11 or his whole arc working
why it works is more for adressing common S11 critisicms than character analysis, good call tho
I'm kind of done overanalyzing plot holes and minor character inconsistencies from past seasons. In a weird way it makes me enjoy those seasons less because I'm constantly thinking about how everything that Nadakhan does in Skybound is stupid, but I adore that season. For the most part, the main "plot holes" I really care about in Ninjago anymore are super out-of-place character inconsistencies rather than traditional plot inconsistencies. Ninjago is still super well written in my opinion, it's just hard to ignore some of these problems. This arc in SOFS isn't one of them though, I agree with you.
I know ninjago probably better than all of you put together, I'm the creator of all this shit. Wu and Lloyd may be the only Wildbrain characters with an arc in more than one season, but it pales in comparison to what Nya, Cole, and Garmadon used to have.

i agree he hasnt, however the situation he's in is different which is why his reaction changes
Rip Jake
But that's just his opinion
Nah bro, S7 Kai is peak
Dtnaglie don’t post no more 😂
The only reason I don’t like kai in s11 is how rushed his story is
Yeah instead of really annoying episodes that do nothing we could get more episodes to flesh out Kai’s arc
It literally is out of character for Kai not because of S5 but because if S1 Kai was always shown to be a person who always had the drive to do better in everything this can be shown in episode 10 of S1 where the ninja all had their true potential and Kai was the only one without a true potential kai would constantly train and would even go beyond what any of his team members would do and would try to stand up to lord Garmadon. Kai in S11 was also in the same scenario when he lost his powers but however he goes around and leaves the team and acts totally useless why because S11 is poorly written and the Kai powerless arc is underwhelming
That’s because he was desperate to be the green ninja and knew that because the other ninja weren’t the green ninja it could be him so obviously he would keep trying to fulfil his wishes but then in season 11 he can’t do much since he doesn’t even know if he can get his power back because aspheera literally absorbed it and it’s not like he can just magically absorb it back
@@blizzerd-brawlstars wouldn’t he still want to prove himself a hero
@@justarandompersonontheinte9738 he did tho a few minutes later he saved the day
Kai in S1 also felt like he was worse than the rest of the team because he didn't have his powers and made several stupid decisions in hopes of gaining his powers🤷
@@Crusty783 the stupid decisions were in character as Kai is impulsive but Kai in S11 is not impulsive at all
Good video man but I disagree Kai sucks in season 11 because it makes him quit way too easily and makes him Whining around like a four year old. Kai had more dignity than this.
I Disagree
Kai swimming: Kai wasnt really talking seriously he and the others should swim to Ninjago,Its just common sense is imposible to swim the big ocean to Ninjago city and He only walt to the corner just to make a joke,,In Lloyd being in the water it makes sense he call another friend to help Lloyd because doing that would be Brave but foolish,But if Kai were alone He would throw himself, Not knowing how to swim doesnt mean have anxiety to water,We saw him in the tub with all Ninjas in season 11.
Kai Lost Powers: The problem is not the context, the problem is the RECORD,Kai had that record with him not only possesion but season 2 when they lost their weapons, And none other knows more his Record than Kai itself.
About Lloyd handle lost of powers different I agree,Different Characters differents ways they handle it and the comparison with Kai is unfair.
But Kai is the fire Ninja,One of the NInjas the his spark is harder to turn off,Ofcourse Kai is human and can have its spark off,And he have it,an example is season 4,But one thing is losing the spark because of the dead of a Friend and another is lossing it for another crappy Snake attack for a crappy Snake leader with all his team together is lame.
Bruh why are people so dumb. Not everything in life is black and white. Literally that line, "I'll only get in your way". Like who's way is he getting in in Possession??? Ffs, and this is coming from someone where Season 11 is my least favorite season (not a bad season at all, I like it more and more every time I watch it again, it's still a fantastic season).
im glad you're coming around to it! I love it but in terms of being the worst ninjago season you could do alot worse (s2 s7 s3)
