  • One of the strongest influences to shape human nature is also one that we usually overlook: context. Where we are, who we're with, and what's going on in our lives at any given moment transform what we think, how we act, and who we really are. Sam Sommers tells us what you can learn from your next situation.
Sam is an associate professor of psychology at Tufts University. His research examines how people think, communicate, and behave in diverse settings. His first book, Situations Matter, written for a general audience, was published in December 2011. Sam has won multiple awards at Tufts, including the Lerman-Neubauer Award for Outstanding Teaching and the 2009 Professor of the Year. He blogs regularly on the psychology of everyday life for Psychology Today and Huffington Post.

i think you should look at what events frequently get the attention from most people in a crowd. you ask us to question every little thing and that can be too taxing on our energy at times.

If there is one thing you cannot assume it is context.

"you ask us to question every little thing and that can be too taxing on our energy at times."
    really???
its because you dont enjoy doing it (and even if you enjoy doing it will not help at every situation) and are not into the habit nor accustomed to it... like philosophy among other things its a mindset that needs to be instilled, it gets easier the more you do it but its always challenging that doesnt mean you DONT do it or avoid it, your kinda affirming what he was trying to say
