Americans Try Beans on Toast

- We tried beans on toast in our first video trying British food. We had Heinz curry beans on sourdough, but this time, we are trying the original Heinz Beanz on Robert's bread with some cheddar on top.

What is your favorite way to have beans on toast?
my favorite way is with mini party sausages in with the beans and on plain toast... with a sprinkle of blue cheese and a sprinkle of bacon bits...
I don't have it very often because I don't like tomatoes that much. It's all about personal choice. British people add all sorts of things to it. On the toast or in the beans.
Brown bread, grated cheddar with a sprinkle of Worcester sauce melted on top then topped off with loads of Branston beans.
I prefer Branston beans over heinz.
Need to have more beans! Pour them onto the toast rather than spooning them. That way you get the juice which soaks into the toast. Yummy!
Just beans on toast,, try pouring the beans straight from the saucepan on the toast,, we normally keep the fork in the left hand and knife in the right hand.. I never swap over from hand to hand, must be the way we were taught when young here in England ..
Try Branston beans if you can get hold of them :) I used to always eat heinz but after I tried Branston I never bought heinz again.
Me too I only buy Branstons beans .
I don't recall seeing them, but it's possible our British import store might carry them sometimes.
Branston beans are to die for.
Heinz were the king but they reduced tomato content and then Branston stepped up to the throne with a better content and are now the best but its taking die hard fans of beans a while to find out. But always butter the toast before putting the beans on.
Yeah I agree , much more fuller tomato flavour and not so sweet..
Put a little bit of butter in the beans when cooking. Makes them even more tasty
I always do this thickens the sauce nicely
It's refreshing to see a lovely American couple using their knives and forks properly. I like to mix cheese with the beans as they are cooking, that way the cheese melts I to the beans and sauce.
At least one of them uses a knife and fork properly instead of holding the fork vertically like a spear!
We'll have to try mixing the cheese with the beans next time,
@@FinnLovesFood No, just sprinkle a bit on top. Perhaps grill it if you want it to melt it a bit more quickly.
Don't forget that if you put a lot of beans on your toast , which you should, they'll go on to your plate, so you really have to use a knife and fork correctly!f
Oh the knife and fork use by Americans I find so funny, such a waste of time swapping hands all the time. 🤣💕
@@glastonbury4304 not the most efficient for sure! 🙂
I always have beans on toast with cheese. Sometimes I mix cheddar and Red Leicester together and sprinkle on top then put under the grill for a bit :)
White Bread with more butter let your beans cook for a bit longer and make the source thicker. I add the cheese to the beans in the pan just before I serve and give it a stair.
You can add a fried egg first on the toast then put the beans on top.
Can have corned beef on the toast then add beans.
We will have to give the egg a try.
I’m from Suffolk, UK, you made your beans on toast exactly how I make mine, including the mature cheddar on top. Can’t fault your technique 👍🏻 it makes a great breakfast too. Addicted to watching you two, keep the videos coming 😊❤️😊
Thanks for watching!
I use my cutlery like you do.....my fork never leaves my hand.❤️ Much more elegant.
I’m in East London and you have to use Heinz baked beans with a knob of butter put in whilst heating and Black pepper, served on two toast with a couple of pork sausages on the side
When putting the cheese on I put it under the grill to melt the cheese and the bread was spot it's better crispy as the bread tends to soften alot with the sauce 😁 .
Good to know we didn't overdo the bread!
toast bread lightly, then butter one side and to that side as loadsa mild cheddar then splash on a few dabs of Worcestershire sauce the under THE GRILL for 3-4 minutes! belissimo
Loved your discussion on fork wielding
🙂
Five Beans are wonderful. Add a dash of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce in the beans. Then grill (broil) the cheese on top.
Perfection. X
We'll have to try that!
If the "Americans use cutlery the old French way" thing is accurate then its super interesting that Americans adopted French dining etiquette but rejected French influence on spelling (e.g. not adding 'u' to word like 'colour', softening 'z' to 's' in words like 'organisation', reversing 'r' and 'e' in words like 'centre', and vowel clusters in words like 'manoeuvre') - whereas the British adopted them despite our historic rivalries and in turn seemingly influenced French dining etiquette.
I'm not sure what the history is behind us dropping the 'u' in words and other spelling variations. There are also little differences like we don't pronounce the 'h' in herb (more like the French) and I believe it is pronounced in the UK.
@@FinnLovesFood .
You can blame Webster's dictionary of 1828, in which he decided to simplify some spellings. He also changed the 'S' in some words to 'Z'. In the dictionary he did give both spellings, some caught on, some didn't.
@@grahvis (and a@anybody who can be bothered to read the following!) not strictly true in regards to z and s switch. The z use was actually the original English spelling which was then carried over the Atlantic. It is actually us Brits who then started using the s instead. We often blame Americans for changing English which is actually unfair in many cases.
Case in point is the word soccer. In Victorian times there was a fashion of adding the -er suffix to words (started in Oxford) and is where we get words like Fiver. We then took socc from Association Football and made Soccer. Also any game not played on horseback i.e. on your feet is called football so actually Americans are quite right to call their sport football just like rugby is called rugby football (as in Rugby Football Union).
Webster did indeed want to simply English by removing extraneous letters does make sense.
Vive la difference!
@@grahvis ahhh, good old Websters!
Just plain hot buttered toast and beans only, on white bread.
Bacon is a good option for an addition.
I like eating beans with everything. Like beans sandwich with cheese, toast bread, fired egg bread, fish and chips, jacket potato , pasta ,
We just had exactly the same as you. You did it exactly right only you left beans in the pan there. Throw them all on too 😁
Would you use all of them for just two pieces of bread? We saved the beans and had more beans on toast the next day!
Hi, whilst putting cheese on your beans on toast is no longer treason, Not using HP brown sauce is almost a declaration of war.
LOL! We still need to try HP sauce.
@@FinnLovesFood Your A1 Sauce is about the closest you get according to my pal in MN - but not quite there according to him. HP is quite thick, like a ketchup, and is sharp (vinegar-ish) tasting, dark sauce, possibly akin to Worcestershire Sauce (or "wuster sauce" as we pronounce it) for tangyness, and is usually found on breakfast table when having a Full Monty
You can stir the cheese into the saucepan with beans which melts nicely. The bread should be crisp !
Beans on toast topped off with the fried egg is another delightful one with a bit of pepper on the fried egg can't beat it
I bet that makes it really filling! I'd probably want some cheese on top of that too. 🙂
fried egg on top , any beans left over leave in the fridge for a few days to thicken up a tad, a white bread, butter cold bean buttys
I like to grill bacon (streaky or not) and crumble/break up into the beans as they heat up. Im the only person I know who does this but I bet some folk reading want to try it now 😀. It takes beans on toast to another level.
We have a bean with bacon canned soup here so that makes sense! Good flavor combination.
In the UK you can get snap pots which come in a pack of four and it's a portion of beans in each snap pot
We saw those in our store. Such a cute size,
Glad you enjoyed your beans. Beans and cheese also good on a jacket potato. The heinz five beans is nice in a chilli recipe. Xx
Good suggestions! Over here I've seen people put chili beans topped with cheese on a jacket potato.
Baked beans enthusiast here from the UK. I like to add pepper and a dash of salt to mine. Otherwise it can taste a bit bland. No added sugar beans to me tastes exactly like regular beans. Branston is the best brand Heinz is second but expensive as frack. Beans are good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I like mine with pie and chips for dinner or on a nice jacket (baked) potato. For breakfast I have it with eggs or as part of an English breakfast. For a nicer, greasier taste you can use fried bread if that's your thing. I'm a bit late to this beans party I think but I hope this helps.
We're really enjoying having beans over a jacket potato, usually with some HP Sauce or Worcestershire Sauce and Cheddar.
In the U.K. you’re supposed to use the fork in your left hand and knife in your right hand. That’s the way it’s set at the table, fork on the left and knife on the right. It’s seen as good etiquette. I use them the other way ‘round though, because it’s more natural for me that way and I don’t care about etiquette. 😅
My two favourite ways to have beans.
1. On toast with lots of coarse ground black pepper.
2. With sausages and a baked potato.
Do you top the baked potato with the beans?
@@FinnLovesFood
Yes. Quarter the spud and pour the beans over. A sprinkling of Cheddar and a good grind of pepper over any exposed beans. Comfort food at its finest👍🏻
I sometimes have beans as a side to mashed potatoes instead of veg, usually with sausage or burgers (veggy) and a fried egg.
I want beans on toast now.
Mmm made just how I like it, I've actually changed to the low sugar ones and don't notice much difference! Definitely looks more awkward and time consuming swapping your cutlery all the time but hey ho each to their own. You're such a lovely couple and I'm enjoying your reactions 😋😁🌟
I look forward to trying the can of low-sugar beans we have. Thank you for watching!
Your toast was spot on! I usually add the cheese to the hot beans just before serving the beans and stir through until it starts melting , then pour onto the buttered toast. Heinz Baked beans are available with baby pork sausages, this is an alternative to plain Baked Beans on toast, again sometimes I'll add grated cheddar cheese. No criticism, just amusing American use of cutlery and passing the fork, it just looks awkward ! Enjoying your British food reactions.
We haven't seen the beans with baby pork sausages here, though I bet we could add our own.
Or poor the beans on the cheese covered toast
Americans don’t have as many hang ups about “how to do” things. It’s just that most Americans don’t care about such petty things.
when you have the beans in the sauce pan add the a knob of butter and and the grated cheese to melt boom its lush 👌
Yes finally... an American who can use a knife and fork like a Brit, great video perfectly executed lol
My dad was not at all domestic, but he insisted on making Sunday breakfast. He'd start by cleaning the grill pan. Reason being, after he cooked the bacon, he would pour the fat into the beans.
It really adds to the meal.
I bet that really enhances the flavor.
Yeah, I imagine that applies to quite a few dads. That’s one thing I use to like - before turning veggie - after cooking the bacon, heating the beans in the frying pan with some of the fat the bacon was fried in; a piece of fried bread was another essential!
My favourite way of having b.o.t. is having the beans cold with hp brown sauce (yeah I'm weird I know)
We still need to try HP brown sauce. At least you save a step by having them cold! 😀
@@FinnLovesFood HP is a great Brown Sauce.. loads of flavour and not too sweet )( HP stands for Houses of Parliament )
I like my toast well done. I don't like it when it goes soggy. Before I turned veggie, I used to have bacon with my beans on toast. Melting the cheese in the beans when you are heating them is nice.
We have a bean with bacon soup that I really like - bacon and beans are a good combination!
I have Branston beans and then we sprinkle some mozzarella on top and I often have it on sourdough toast x
We love sourdough!
Very authentic British meal. You did it well. I guess some people would put the toast back under the grill to melt the cheese, but not really necessary. I like a brown sauce called Daddies (similar to HP sauce) on top but that's only as I enjoy the tang it gives.
We still need to give HP sauce a try. I don't think we've seen Daddies here.
@@FinnLovesFood HP used to ‘the’ brown sauce, but, like a lot of things alas, to me, it’s not what it once was - it’s ok but….!
@@woodentie8815 that's unfortunate!
Love your kitchen 💖
Thank you!
Usually 1/2 tin per person, not usually any left over. Also I love more butter and a grinding of black pepper. A British classic
And we thought we were using too many beans!
@@FinnLovesFood if it's a dinner I usually have 2 slices of bread and a whole tin. They are also nice cold straight out of the tin, but that's quite controversial.
@@sarahc12377 I could see Ross eating straight out of the tin!
Never knew about the cutlery thing coming from France, very interesting!
I always get the beans with the little sausages in, simmer for 20 minutes till it goes thick. I put the beans in the middle of the plate and the toast cut in triangles around the edge of the plate! I've no idea why, it's just what I do.
It sounds like it would make an attractive arrangement on the plate!
l also like a fried egg on top of the beans so the yolk runs over the beans
Heinz beans are the best. Toast looks good but I would add a little more butter to the toast, and then a little bit of cracked black pepper over the top :)
Heinz beans taste like they've been watered down. The best beans are Branston, very tasty and full of flavour. After you put the cheese on top of the beans grill it till it melts. Another thing we have on toast is a tin of chopped tomatoes, cooked the same way. You could also grill some cheddar cheese on toast then pour the hot beans on top. In the UK a 4-pack of Branston beans or chopped tomatoes costs £2:50 = 62:5 pence per tin. Just curious, have you tried a couple of poached eggs, or scrambled eggs on toast, they are also yummy, as is 1 or 2 large baked potatoes with grated cheese then the beans on top. Happy eating!
We haven't tried the eggs on toast yet. We're getting so many good ideas from the comments! I'll have to see if our British store has Branston beans. I only remember seeing Heinz and even Heinz beans aren't very common.
Crunchy toast 😋 I was having eargasms when you were buttering 🤪😅
LOL! I was surprised at how loud that sounded!
6:50 How you are using the knife and fork is exactly how we use them in the UK as well - the proper way madam.
The way you made it was great, my mum who is Scottish also uses the cheese slices like you use for grilled cheese but the real cheese is great too.
My mum also broils it all in the oven with the cheese on top. We also used the deep browned beans for beans on toast. It's all personal preference as long as you enjoy what you make. 👍
The way you use your cutlery is FINE! Nothing wrong with it. WTF?
Love your videos FLF ❤
Thank you! We're looking forward to experimenting with some of the suggestions we've read here. Really enjoyed the cheese one top, but we want to try some of the sauces too.
To perfect once the grated cheese is placed on top of the beans put under the grill for a short time just so the cheese melts. Also salt and white pepper. Other than that that looked good.
Love beans on toast, try a few dashes off Worcestershire Sauce on top off the cheese then back under the grill till it melts 👌🏻 xx
We will give that a try!
We are odd in our house as we have cheese on toast with baked beans over the top but either way it’s delicious. Another great taste test x
It seems it may be easier to start with cheese, grill it and then add the beans.
My favourite is Branston beans on a crumpets. You have to toast the crumpets are crispy light brown in colour . Then butter then branston beans .leave a couple of mins so the beans soak the crumpets. Yum 😋. I had these yesterday. Can you get crumpets I America? x
We've had crumpets from Trader Joe's, but not sure how they compare to what you have in the U.K. We've had them with butter and jam or butter and Marmite. Beans sound like a good topping too!
@@FinnLovesFood If they aren't really fresh they can be a bit rubbery.
Yeah, I like beans on buttered crumpets, a must is that enough butter/spread is allowed to melt into the crumpets before adding a good dollop of hot baked beans.
@@woodentie8815 I love it once they've gone mushy lol . I can't walk past them inthe shop there straight in the trolley lol 😂
Baked Beans in a toasted sandwich is good or a toastie as we call them over here in the UK
This was fun. Been wanting to try this for a long time. Just ordered the Heinz tomato beans from Amazon but sounds like you get yours at Costco? Not a member but do you remember what they charge for the Heinz beans? Thx!
We got it at Cost Plus World Market and I think it was around $2.50 to $3. We occasionally see them in regular grocery stores, but on the very bottom shelf below Bush's and all the other beans!
@@FinnLovesFood So I got my beans in from Amazon as I could not find them locally. Even though I asked they be shipped in a box the cans arrived pretty banged up. Regardless, I heated up one of the less abused cans, toasted some bread my partner made based on one of John Kirkwood's receipts. I buttered half a slice as I did not remember whether to butter or not. Completely forgot about the cheddar but will try that next time as I felt it needed "something". The dish was filling & definitely a comfort like food. Be well guys!
@@johngalt5411 that's too bad that the cans arrived damaged. We did butter our toast (it seems butter is used a lot in the U.K.!), but some viewers mentioned also adding butter to the beans. We've had them with and without cheese. Being a cheese lover, I like it with cheese on top!
no added salt, no added sugar beans for me. with beans I like my toast probably twice as dark as that (some wood say bordering on burnt) and no butter. I dont put cheese on it either. for breakfast just beans and toast, if for lunch I may put a few fried eggs on top. for a snack in the evening just plain old beans and toast again.
I prefer my toast well done and just beans with lots of black pepper! You have done it perfectly fine with the cheese.
Try a dash of salt and black pepper on the beans before putting the cheese on. Also a little hp brown sauce on the beans. With a fryed egg on top or bacon try combinations
Have mine with brown sauce as well!! Mmm sometimes with a fried egg on top
Fried egg sounds like a good addition.
I like to put my butter on my toast when the toast has gone cold because the butter doesn't sink into the bread, you taste the butter better and you don't get soggy bread! So that's what I do for my beans on toast too. wait for the toast to get cold, then put the butter on, then pour the beans on only half my toast so I will still have some toast not soggy! No cheese for me because I am not keen on cheese. But I do sometimes add a tin of tomatoes to the beans as they are heating and add some extra salt because of the tomatoes won't have any. Also a dash of worcestershire sauce!
When it comes to the toast it sounds like it was over done causing it to be hard rather than soft inside or not enough butter was used but it I guess comes down to personal taste. I usually have mine one of 2 ways, the first is with a decent amount of butter on the toast and i usually drop some in the beans while they are heating up ( it causes them to become really creamy and tasty ), the other way is to add grated cheese however I do not simply have the cheese cold, after covering the toast with the beans i then add the cheese and then put it under the grill to melt the cheese till it gets that crispy top ( like a pizza ) sometimes i add a few drops of Worcester sauce
@Papa Brown Your point is? < they asked how we all personally have our Baked beans, ergo we give our personal preferences, that's next from you, pointing out water is wet ?
Next time we need to try adding butter to the beans. And we have a new use for our Worcester sauce!
@@FinnLovesFood Worcestershire sauce!
Or marmite.
@@neilgayleard3842 Yum! Love Marmite.
Adding a pinch of salt really brings out the flavour. if you want a quick BBQ dish try adding 1 dsp of HP sauce,a tsp of sweet/smoked paprika to a tin of beans,if you want you can also add a dash of your favourite hot sauce.
Those sound like tasty additions!
Oh yes cheese aswell. 👍you should try grilled cheese on toast first with a little bit of beans, but that looks nice to me. I like it when the beans make the toast soggy. Fried mushrooms 🍄 and bacon pieces. Tinned plum tomatoes on toast, that is another of our weird british snacks.
Fried mushrooms and bacon sound great.
I sometimes put a fried egg on top of that
Beans make a great anytime meal or snack and may be why they are so popular in the UK, apart from the fact they taste great. I eat a whole tin of them in one go.
We're finding that we prefer the baked beans from the UK. Our baked beans are very sweet.
My only stipulation is plenty of butter 😋 A couple of sausages goes nice too. You can actually get Heinz beans and sausages which have little hot dog type sausages.
We have something called Beanee Weenee or Beans and Franks in cans. I haven't tried them though!
I love beans on toast with cheese it tastes better if you put the cheese on the toast first then melt it under the grill add a splash of Worchester sauce to the cheese while under the grill then add the beans last delicious 👌🏻😋
Yum! We always say cheese makes everything better. :)
It's good on jacket potatoes too.
For true beans on toast heaven, use Lurpak butter. After putting the beans (no cheese,) on the buttered toast, the crowning glory is a small knob of Lurpak on the top........YUM! You haven't lived until you've tried Lurpak for this dish! 👌
I bet Lurpak butter is something we won't find here.
@@FinnLovesFood I think Lurpak is Danish
I love to add black pepper and Cheddar cheese then grill/toasty oven til the cheese browns a little bit! Or Worcestershire sauce and strong cheddar cheese. Mmm tasty :)
We need to get our Worcestershire sauce bottle out of the cupboard and give it a try.
The 5 beans make a great salad, or when you are cooking a casserole, tip the whole can in ... loads of different ways !
I tend towards plain - wholemeal bread, no butter and no cheese. Maybe a good sprinkling of black pepper. I'm curious how the British beans compare to your beans. I've heard yours are sweeter and typically bbq flavoured. Just wondered if that's the reason Americans can't understand having them with a cooked breakfast or on toast.
Some, but not all are bbq flavored, and most are definitely sweet. Too sweet for me. They are made with brown sugar or in the case of Boston baked beans, molasses. I much prefer British beans! You often find baked beans as a side dish at a bbq. I never have them in the cupboard (but now we have a little assortment of Heinz beans!) I do keep refried beans on hand as a base for bean dips. 🙂
Great video ❤
Thank you!
White , warburtons bread , beans and a fried egg then cover with brown sauce , your's looked good as well
We're seeing a lot of suggestions for fried egg. We need to give that a try.
Beans on toast with a runny egg and HP brown sauce 😋
Regarding the use of cutlery, I rarely eat with a knife and fork, relying on just a fork, the edge of which is sufficient to do most cutting of the food; etiquette be blowed! 😀
Alway's 2 slices of toast, I put butter into the beans not on the toast, makes the beans creamy, fried egg on top seals the deal 🤗
Another vote for egg on top! We'll have to try that.
Beans on toast is about the only thing I can eat during a hangover.
I like my beans on toast with loads of butter and a bit of peri peri sauce in the beans.. and cheese melted on top..yours looked fab. .. fin is gorgeous .. is he a cardigan corgi.. ? Love from England. Xxx🏴🇬🇧
Branston beans are great.. I think sliced loaf is good ..BUT it is personal choice.. and the choice of HOW to eat is personal too. ❤️❤️
Did you get the joke about Cardigan Corgi?
Corgis are Welsh dogs and Cardigan is a town in Wales.
Thank you! We just tried peri peri sauce on chicken for the first time a few weeks ago. Finn is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My first dog was a blue-merle Cardigan named Corky.
@@jillhobson6128 Finn is a Pembroke Corgi. I believe Pembroke is also a town in Wales?
@@FinnLovesFood Pembroke is a town in in Wales in one of the most beautiful counties in the UK, Pembrokeshire in West Wales.
i like to have it with a fried egg, and add little a bit of salt & black pepper to the beans
The 5 bean one is the best for just plain beans.
However Heinz also sell the beans with (very heavily processed...) pork sausages in them too. Those afre the best of all. Add cheese if you like - personally I think they are best with chilli flakes mixed in.
FINE DINING... this is not. But a quick snack that even a 10 year old can make - hard to beat.
It makes a great snack!
I like my cheese melted on the toast and then the beans on the top 😍
I like the Branston baked beans. Has a bit of a BBQ sauce flavour. Lol. I do like cheese on it but I don't eat a lot of it. I also like egg and beans on toast with a little sprinkle of cracked black pepper 😍 xx
Egg sounds like a tasty addition.
had beens on toast today with marmite yum
What I'd do is - I use a grill ( I'm not sure if you would call it a grill )toast one side only then place on pieces of cheese and back under the grill so the cheese melts onto the bread then pour on the beans .How you use cutlery is not important - I sometimes pick up a whole slice of the beans on toast without using any cutlery and just eat .Some people don't like HP sauce but I love it on beans . Well done - It's ideal as a quick light snack and is quite healthy .
I was wondering whether it would make more sense to add the cheese first. That does sound easier if you plan to grill the cheese.
yeah, when I was a kid the beans would be spread over one slice of toast then another slice of toast placed on top, cut into four pieces and no k&f needed
Beans on toast is a fantastic, low effort, snack. But it’s very different to what most Americans imagine. Savoury white bread, far less sugar in ours, with savoury, tomato sauce encapsulated beans. It’s so easy to modify as well, a splash of Worcester sauce, some cheese, maybe brown sauce.
I can't imagine our sweet beans on toast!
2 pieces of toast. An egg on one and beans on the other. Grate cheese on beans and egg. Enjoy.
I like my Heinz beans on toast with a splash of HP Brown Sauce. Tastes good with or without cheese. Heinz beans with low sugar content taste just as good as the original. I also enjoy Heinz Beans with a steak pie and Chips (fries), birds eye fish finger and chips, and with a jacket potato, a potato cooked in oven with skin left on. Sliced in half with butter pinch of salt then pour the beans over it.
Glad to hear the low sugar beans are just as good. I love the word "jacket potato." We use boring old "baked potato."
A baked potato in its jacket.
Growing up as a kid one thing I did enjoy was a dish of Heinz Tomato soup with Heinz beans. By adding a small tin or half a large tin of Heinz beans into a saucepan with the Heinz Tomato soup warming through together as you would do normally. Really delicious on a cold winter day, or any other day
Your bread needs to be super toastie in order to stay soft when toasted also cook your beans for abit longer until they soften up also add a bit of butter to the beans when cooking and then just add your cheese and enjoy
S on a shingle, last time I heard that mid-1970s I was attached to the Air National Guard 659 Av and the 503rd in Germany troop trialing Chinooks as load and troop carriers for the Brit army of the Rhine, we had a few like that Chinees wedding cake, Rice Pudding in tin part of out Rat packs, spam was called pink lint, looks like the patch we got to put on a cut as kids, our tined corn beef was Desert Chicken, Beans we called desert strawberries
You both seem lovely and respectful. Eat how you want to eat, as long as it ends up in your mouth who cares? :p Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
As you did it but with some brown sauce on top!
Brown sauce on it yummy!
I've seen a few people suggest putting cheese on the beans in these sort of videos, which i expect to be nice but I've never heard of anyone doing this in real life where i live i the UK. Tell us about that grill you used to make the toast, never seen anything like that before.
It's a toaster oven. We use it in place of our regular oven quite a bit if we're cooking something small (which is often!). It's great in summer when we don't want the oven heating up the house.
Wait until the toast cools down as the butter will melt into the bread and you won’t appreciate the taste of the butter. I usually have mine a small pot of beans surrounded by toast triangles and dip in, then the toast doesn’t go soggy
Lunch or dinner is definitely when you're supposed to have it, so you made it even more authentic! I don't understand these people who have it for breakfast, and whilst I've obviously had it for breakfast like many others, I've also had pizza for breakfast but wouldn't consider it a breakfast food. It's to load you up on energy again for the rest of the day
Here we would never have beans for breakfast, but since beans and toast are part of a full English breakfast, I'm surprised it's not eaten for breakfast more! I hear you on the pizza. I'd never make pizza for breakfast, but leftovers from the night before - that can be delicious! :)
There was an advertisement in the 60s and 70s , it had a little tune, a million housewives every day pick up a tin of beans and say, Beans meanz Heinz, the other one, which they didn't play, Beanz Beanz are good for your heart the more you eat the more you fart, I could carry on but I don't think you'd like it, you just use your imagination 🤣
😆
I like a splash of tobasco, a splash of worcester and black pepper for a magical experience
Beans on toast with grilled cheese Meade’s in a “bean-o” in my house
You gotta pour those beans from the pan with the cheese melted in there. Otherwise you get kinda dry beans and non gooey cheese.
We'll try that next time.
I like my beans on toast with salt, pepper and a little HP brown sauce
