    If you have any doubts: this is not a training session. It's an admission test for fighting contract. Once a candidate wins the ticket, he'd be trained by the same trainers with utmost respect and care.

    I had a trainer from thailand and this is exactly how he would train us. If you don’t block you get hit! It sharpens your reflexes and helps you deal with the fear of getting punched/kicked/kneed. 20% technique and 80% power.

    I was there, 3 Weeks. Very hard training, and in Thailand the Trainers have 2 differences :
    Nr 1) The Trainers/Padholders attack back!, very hard! U dont have that alot in western Muay Thai Training.
    Nr 2) If you lay on the floor, and u dont stand up, you get beat up EVEN MORE! Dont lay on the floor! Always stand up, no matter how much it hurts. U get beat MORE if u dont.

  • @Mrepikfejl
    @Mrepikfejl Před 5 lety +347

    All the people saying this is borderline abuse clearly didn't train anything. It's training by punishment, if you let your guard down you get punched in the face just as in a real fight. You have to breathe out when hitting and kicking otherwise when you get counter-punched in the stomach it hurts. It's just as, if not more efficient than "normal" training, these people knew what they were signing up for

      Mandrag0ra it’s because most don’t understand the logic, they’re used to the Thai tourist camps where they learn the basics and throw a few kicks to the pads and clinch for a bit, not the physical and mental conditioning that comes with it.

    This how I learnt in boxing mines the kicks. After a few weeks of doing pads like this they couldn’t land a on me. You’re punches gets shaper and you can see every punches coming. It looks brutal but it’s the quickest way to learn your attack and defence at the same time.

      The follow up on a falling fighter is a well known and permitted practice in muay thai and continues until the referee breaks it. In thai it is referred to "water runs downhill". And it is a consequence of the mindset that the fight continues as long as the referee allows it. You'll see it being taught and practiced in clinch training and sparring.

    lmao back then the training for the thais are harder than what you see here.
    Namsaknoi "the emperor" had his shoulder dislocated by his pad trainer when he was 14 or so. His teammate was sentenced to doing left kicks on a bag without sleep after losing a fight. Heard Khaosai galaxy trained incredibly hard. Wouldn't be surprised if the Galaxy brothers trained even harder than Namsaknoi. The galaxy brothers were considered hard working in an era where everyone was training borderline military style.
    The old lumpinee used to have a sign saying don't punish your fighters here. Back then they really were extremely extremely tough on their fighters. Nowadays, that treatment and training wouldn't really fly anywhere. What you see here is a toned down version of the training given to older thai fighters from a young age.
    Everyone here wants to be a professional top level fighter. If the training is easy, how would they see who to pick? There is only 32 hungry professional fighters fighting for a few sponsorship.

      Ben Peng Damaging their bodies isn’t gonna prove anything but who’s got the best poker face and who is dumb enough to keep going. The best fighters are the ones that inflict damage while minimizing intake not who can bang his head against the wall and still stand.

      Ben, the sign in the old Lumpinee stadium you referred to was a reminder to tone down what was known as "round 6" backstage, where unhappy gym owners who lost some bet took out their anger on the losing fighter.

    This is a tryout, of course, it would not be easy. The Thai people there may suffer so much worse and try so much harder but don't get a scholarship, so if the foreigners want a scholarship, they are definately gonna need to go through a tough test to show that they deserve it more than others who are not able to
