I agree that the book was not long enough, there were so many interesting things she could have explained more, especially things that were foreshadowed before! The angst in the first two books was perfect and I didn't really feel that in this one :( Also like you said, if there are multiple POVs, I feel like the majority of those should come from the two main characters, not one main and one side character :D It felt like Stephanie Garber kind of didn't care about Evangeline and Jacks anymore and she was ready to write about other characters. But I mean, still a 5 star series :)
Oooh yes I think you’re right about her wanting to explore other characters! I’d happily read spin off books in this world but really missed the Jacks and Eva focus
I'm waiting for my copy to arrive and then I have all the books and will finally read them haha. Have been putting off till I have all the books. Might have to do a readathon of Caravel then OUABH :)🍎

🍎 Your reading vlogs are the cutest! Did you say 'coloring in the maps'? As soon as I finish KOA, I'm reading Once Upon A Broken Heart 😌 I'm so excited to begin that fairytale journey. One song on 1989 that i was so disappointed in was 'Style.' Isaac and I both agreed we would have liked an acoustic version better. He used to dj all the time in Scottsdale so its cute to see his thoughts and opinions. Swifty will always be my favorite though 😊

🍎 I’m sorry this wasn’t a 5 million star read for you. It sounds like Stephanie Garber might write more books in this world so didn’t want to tie everything up - which is both fun but also frustrating. I’ve only read the first one in this series - I thought it was beautifully written and soooo magical, but I still haven’t read the second one yet. I think maybe I’m not as invested because I haven’t read the Caraval series.
Oh my gosh the first two books are SOOO GOOD! You’re totally right - magical is the best word to describe it. I definitely recommend going back and reading the Caravel series, as it is one of my favorites ever and will explain so much more. It also reads like a fairytale and you’ll see Jacks in there. I had started to read The Ballad of Never After upon a recommendation, and though it was so beautifully written, it just didn't do it for me. I'm not much of a fan of fantasy - romance

I totally agree that the book wasn’t a 5 star read but the series was a 5 star series overall. I think one of my main criticisms of it is that everything happens so fast. Or rather not enough is answered before the ending suddenly comes up.

What happened to Tiberius? I know that the Valors plan on taking the throne back but it’s not like the Acadian line didn’t have two heirs. So what happens there? Is jacks’s name cleared with the newspapers? And that’s not even half of the questions that we’re left with, those are just off the top of my head. My theory is that Stephanie left herself room to pick up where she left off but maybe with Chaos and Lala’s story instead. That’s what I’m hoping she’ll do at least 😅

YES!!! I am left with so many questions and after sitting on my feelings all day, I am even more disappointed. We needed more on:
Tiberius
The guy who randomly tries to assassinate her
Jacks giving her defense lessons two times and then.... it's over
LaLa and Dane and Casper now?!
The Valors in general
Aurora's backstory
Jacks curse and Fate history
Is Jacks now mortal (ish?)
AND THE APPLES!!!! WHY AND WHY THE COLORS?! I NEED TO KNOW.
I wanted WAY less Apollo POV and Jacks' POV felt like an afterthought. This was never a love triangle to me, so i think it is an odd choice to write the book in this way. Everything just felt so rushed. Ballad was such a perfect book that I can't help but feel sad about this one.

We don’t learn anything about Jacks upbringing, or about his parents, or really anything about his life prior to Lyric’s death. I wanna know if he comes from a noble house or if he came from a peasant family and he had to learn basic hunting skills to provide for his family. Or if he was orphaned at a young age and was adopted by Lyric’s father. I was hoping that this book would focus more on Jacks’ story and exploring more of his background. It was such a missed opportunity 😔
Absolutely! This is what we needed and I would have LOVED to know these things. It would've really help flesh out the character. This series easily could've had a fourth book in it. @@isabelnightly4408
