I called this last year. The fact Cleveland kept playing him as injured as he was made it was pretty clear they weren't thinking about his long-term future with the Browns. No one believed they had a chance at winning a Superbowl with him playing injured like he was. So, why not get him surgery and into recovery as soon as possible so he's good to go for next season? Because they weren't planning on him being around.
His choice to play he was medically cleared
The coaches didn't make him play. He was given the choice. The coaches should have been smarter and benched him for Keenum. They would have had a few more wins I believe and made the wildcard at least. Coaches fault.

He's definitely not always objective but respect to Colin for speaking the truth and how he honestly feels about this. Got more respect for Colin after this. Its a nice refresher to see someone talking positive about Baker. last year or two in college and his first 2 years in the NFL. He was real real cocky and he had every right to be, he went from a double walk-on to winning the Heisman. Then 2020 season he matures. He doesnt backlash at media or anyone else anymore like he used to. Doesn't taunt the other team or their fans like he did. Look at OBJ's dad and how he absolutely tried to end Bakers career because OBJ either ran the wrong route or wouldnt catch the ball or Baker did overthrow him. They just didnt have chemistry and it HAPPENS. But to publicly flame the QB whos been nothing but a friend to your son? Gave your son and that team everything he could year after year? What a class act

It's fantastic to see the Colin, Baker, Darnold football triangle unfold over the last 5 years. Darnold was the chosen one, and Baker was the runt who worked hard but didn't fit Colin's QB mold. Baker wasn't the "trunky coastal kid with a midwest personality." Baker was bold and unapologetic. As time went on, Darnold saw two teams give up on him. Baker has had highs and lows. Baker's time with Cleveland appears to be over. No NFL team seems to view Darnold as a starter anymore. Now, Colin admits Darnold stinks, and Baker is a franchise QB. Colin shows love for Baker that wasn't evident when the famous interview took place about 5 years ago. BAker was coined "Undraftable" by Colin then. Now, Baker is a Colin guy. You love to see it.

As a Cleveland fan Baker will always be one of my favorites. He brought so much hope and excitement to a team that had none almost my entire life. I’m 25 years old and the browns where never anything to cheer about for the majority of my life but he really was a big part of the belief behind the team now. Players aren’t out there just accepting defeat or just going through the emotions they believe they can when and have pride in the city and the organization.
Just know you don't owe anyone anything for doing there job, ok.

Yeah Baker Mayfield did show some maturity with his genuine heartfelt speech. But let’s not treat Cleveland like the bad guys. Baker did have them in the playoffs and get their first win in so many years but the majority of the credit was the OLine and Run game. And let’s not forget Cleveland has expectations with that roster. The front office in Cleveland saw Joe Burrow go to the Super Bowl with no O Line and ok roster, you think they were just gonna bring back Baker who hasn’t done anything like that with a top 10 roster? Nah, this is just them wanting to upgrade🤷🏽♂️
