For those still concerned about the posthumous album, it will be the first and LAST of its kind due to already being 90% done, and her brother has been heavily involved, so this should be an example of a posthumous project done right!
and iirc feedback from SOPHIE’s close collaborators was received as well. apparently the album was almost finished before SOPHIE passed and just needed some finishing touches so we’re in good hands
Her brother is heavily involved. He helped with mixing on a good amount of her music while she was still alive. I think he has a pretty good idea of her style and what she would and wouldn't want out there. Also, like you said, this is apparently the only posthumous album they plan on doing ever and they're only doing it because they estimated that the music was already "90% finished". I've been a big fan of SOPHIE since the early PC Music days and am generally skeptical of posthumous releases but this seems to be one of the least exploitative releases of this kind I can think of in recent memory.
That’s a huge relief. My siblings told me about this and I was kinda skeptical, but I’m glad it’s being handled by her loved ones.
I remember being really concerned about Mac Miller’s posthumous album, but it ended up being my favorite album of his.
@@TheWatchersDancethanks for the extra info 😎
Whatttt?!!
We have to keep in mind that Sophie’s brother has always mixed and mastered her music. So he was working on these songs when she was still alive. No better person to do this.
Thank you for this context!

SOPHIE’s brother has taken so much time, that I think this project will do nothing but honour her legacy. With the amount of unreleased tracks SOPHIE had in the vault, there could be 10 albums out by now. All SOPHIE’s collaborators, people who actually knew her and her artistic vision intimately, have shown support for it too.
This lead track, feels like a gift to fans, and has the right sort of ruminative vibe for the first track off a posthumous album release. Can’t wait to hear it in the context of the full album. Bring on September!
I’m still heartbroken three years later. Oil of Every Pearl is my favorite album of all time and at this point I can only listen to it once or twice a year because it breaks me emotionally. She had so much more to give this world and she was taken far too soon, and in such a horrific and random fashion. Rest in power SOPHIE 💞🛝

@metahaladi Imagine using someone mourning the death of their favorite artist as an excuse to pedal your own shitty music. Disgusting. This is an awful look and you're never going to get people interested if this is how you approach promo. I've already made the decision to never listen to your music based solely on this comment, and I'm sure others will too.
Praying for this album to be a great send off for her and her legacy. Her influences are vast and massive in the world of pop, it’s what she deserves.
@metahaladi Go promote your music somewhere else 😭
As a Linkin Park fan that still grieves Chester Bennington, I hope this project does for Sophie fans what the Lost EP did for LP fans.
Beautifully said 🤘

I already lost hope years ago for Frank💀
Frank doesn't want to make music, he's too busy selling iced out buttplugs
I remember the rumor that SOPHIE’s sophomore album that was meant to be released was going to be half bubblegum pop half experimental dance, but it was scrapped after the quarantine
I miss her and remember the loss every other month and it always hurts
It seems like this project is getting the respect and love that Mac’s “Circles” got and that makes me happy.
Been a fan of hers since my group of friends and I discovered “Lemonade” in early 2015 while still in college. The absolute bewilderment upon first listen is an experience I will never forget. I miss her so much.
bewilderment is right - i remember hearing it back then too and having no idea what to make of it. VISIONARY QUEEN
This was the least expected thing to happen.
Her brother announced that he was working on this release long ago
@@milipo23 didn’t even know she had a brother. I only follow the music. I don’t really have any celebs / artists I follow on social.
@@fluffysharkdatazz9460 so how can you announce "this was the least expected thing" when it's just that you are personally out of the loop 💀
@metahaladi We'd appreciate you not continuously spamming your "art" and attempting to take away the focus from a beloved transfeminine artist by shilling your crap in the replies on every comment! If you can't be respectful enough to do that, I'm going to continuously report your comments as unwanted commercial spam each time I see your pfp pop up and pray to the CZcams gods that your comments are removed or your channel is struck down.
@@luckas221a idk most Sophie fans I know don’t spend their life on celeb tweets or digital living. It’s something for entertainment, not for life. It’s pretty simple. Hell I bet you follow a few celebs that just haven’t popped up in a while cuz the algorithms sometimes don’t show statuses from the same people for a long time. I mean literally besides that, what the literal fuck do you mean!??? A dead mf is dead, we don’t pay attention to their life update cuz the mfs don’t have one. Of course people aren’t waiting with bated breath to see if someone dead is still alive.

RIP to sophie, as a trans girl she means a lot to me. Glad we get a final album
You can't change your gender and you should learn to love yourself for who you are instead of being desparate to change things you'll never be able to. 😂
@@aesop2733 Oh how I knew you'd be here. I think OP already showed she does love herself by realizing her authentic self in a society that desperately tries to keep people confined into two constrictive and quite frankly boring boxes.
@@aesop2733 You should learn to love and accept others, which might end up helping these people love themselves
@@aesop2733 aesop rock listener and a transphobe? what?

I thought the low end would punch a bit harder, it’s kind of missing the airy spark that the demo had and seems a bit darker. It used to be faster and I think it previously used to sound more like ‘a dance track’ but I think Ben her brother probably knows best on how Sophie would have wanted it. The pop of the baseline on previous demos was a bit louder and punchier but I’m just glad we are getting official releases 🙌.
I agree. I don’t like the mix and energy compared to the demo unfortunately, the instrumental lacks energy and punch but the vocal is still suuuch a vibe
I used to listen to the live version of this track on repeat so having this final version is a heaven send
I know it's selfish but I often think how the world was robbed of so much potential, so much incredible music with her passing too soon
I feel exactly the same. A trans woman literally changing the face of music, she had so much still to give and I grieve everything we missed out on as fans. It's beautiful to see how much impact she's had though
@@charli.7889 wholeheartedly agree
She only had two studio albums, just like Amy Winehouse. So many artists who had way more music in them
@@essaly7969 as an electronic artist myself, her music- specifically her innovative production methods- really speak to me. Many people, not just musicians, are gone too soon.

from what i heard sophie was working on a straight up pop record before her passing and knowingly wanted to release a head to toe pop album after her debut album which was obviously out of this world, so i im really excited to hear the rest of what she was envisioning
i miss you every day SOPHIE
SOPHIE's music deserves way more attention.
She accidently fell three floors from a rooftop while attempting to take a picture of the full moon... RIP
Also those who assume anything Sophie releases has to sound deconstructed have forgotten a lot of her productions and remixes that sound like the slickest "reconstructed" club you've ever heard. Look at 1,2,3, Dayz Up for example.
ftr this song was essentially done, fans have mp3s not much different than the release, it was a track BC Kingdom kept saying was coming soon. I wonder if we'll get Lock It Up, that would be a banger 😭
We deffo are gonna get lock it up, the leaks have been taken down 😂
I really hope Sunscreen will be on there, pop is thriving this year guys 🎊🎉
rest in peace sophie 🩷
Something about the drop of this track seems unfinished, but that's understandable given it was unfinished material. As an electronic music geek, it feels so amazing to be able to celebrate one of the greatest in the genre once again. Can't wait to hear the rest of this LP!
“This unfinished track feels unfinished” ya no shit
I felt the same and I am glad you feel the same way
@@austins.2495uh no when you release a posthumous album it's supposed to be finished off lol they never release unfinished music without finishing it off
@@austins.2495 Hey a lot of people might disagree. Also I didn't say the track feels unfinished, just mainly the drop feels unfinished. I feel like it lacks impact, I could imagine Sophie having added more to the build up to make for a better pay off. But it really isn't much of an issue. I love the track and can't wait to hear more! It's quality enough
I remember listening to the demo 2 years ago on SoundCloud, and it's quite a bit different from the final version. The original had more "SOPHIE elements" and the synth in the chorus was much more thumping and hard-hitting, which, in my opinion, made it more unique
I was just listening to Oil of Every Pearl's Un - Inside's earlier today. Hell yeah

Modern Baseball?
It’s really unfair what happened with Sophie, she had such a bright future.
Younger artists that came after took her baton and ran with it (in a good way), but it also sometimes feels they’re getting the glory that could have been hers if things had gone differently.
That's a big amount of words to describe a pop song. hope the album won't sound too generic which is the one thing her discography is not
RIP Sophie
I’m beyond excited for the album. I trust that everyone involved wants to do right by her legacy and art. Miss her so much! Immaterial forever 🩷
So so so thankful and happy we will be able to experience Sophie's near-finished project. Her brother did work as her sound engineer so I have good hopes this will turn out to be a banger album. One last goodbye and tribute. I believe she would have wanted us to enjoy it. Rest in peace.

from what i've heard, a lot of, if not all, of this project is going to essentially be what would've been her sophomore album TRANSNATION, which was almost complete before she passed, hence why fans are already familiar with most of the songs

I'm actually relieved you like it 😅 there have been some opinions about it..
LET'S GOOOOOOOO
RIP
back in my day we would get a theneedledrop album review when we got a new album
I thing to note about this release was it was planned to be released before her passing. This song was originally BC Kingdoms track & had Sophie on as a producer & Kim as a feature artist. BC Kingdom had a whole EP produced & ready to be released by Sophie I think it was there label making them wait for its release & im assuming when she passed away all collabs & any projects got put on pause / cancelled. I believe they must have changed contracts with the artist & now any songs she worked on are her songs & the artist are now featured on them. Basside had a contract so that’s why there EP was released officially & i believe metal was released before her passing by Jimmy Edgar but it was confirmed to basically be a remix Jimmy did & Jimmy actually has her monomachine she used, to me Jimmy makes music the most close to what she was doing.
in this album we can have sophie
banger indeed. But also, what if I told you that your week will radically change once you check out Miss Misogyny, the album Villano Antillano released today? 26 minutes of relentless, violently eloquent + extremely hardcore bangers. We need you to review it and help us digest that shit Fantano. There's wildly dense spanglish involved so it's ok to take a couple of extra days to review it properly.
Worse case scenario would be a You Know You're Right but this is not that. Sophie forever
